Meg...  gather your troops.  Looks like we'll be having that meeting after all.  I'll be by your apartment in about five minutes.  Just call them, it could be worse than I was thinking it was.

  To Zeke:

Gotcha.  I'll call them all.

Ozzy picks up the phone.

"Sup, Megs? I'm just sittin' in the office, getting my papers done."

To Ozzy

"How fast can you get to my place?  And if any of the others are there, tell them to come too.  It's an emergency, it looks like."

"Gimme a couple minutes. I gotta finish up this paperwork, and then I'll be right there. Jeff and Rodger are here, too. What's up? Zeke manage to set up that meeting with his 'friends'?"

To Ozzy

"More like, something has come up, and he needs us in our long johns to show for a meeting regarding an 'issue'.  ASAP."

"Agh! Fuckin' seriously? Dude, Jeff, get ready to roll out, man. Megs, we'll be there as fast as my blades'll go. Put the word out to Bill and Iris."

With that, Ozzy hung up.

To Mirage:

Hey Lane...I know that I've been royally screwing up lately with leaving when unexpected. So I wanted to apologize to you, first and foremost. I've had a lot of personal issues come up lately...with Friday and then some stuff happening with my family. Long story...I can tell it, if you want. I know things haven't been easy...especially with the New Age Defenders coming to the forefront. I know they're not perfect, and I am in no way trying to defend them, or trying to sell you on them.

Look...if you want to talk later...you know where to find me. I know we've got business as well, so if you want to put our heads together and kick some tail, I'm OK with that too :)

To Dragon Fist:

There's nothing to apologize for, Lucas.  We all have personal issues that require our attention, and believe me when I say that I am very well acquainted with personal issues.  Why don't we get together and talk later, over a drink.

Call me when you find Hunter.  I'm going to take care of the weapons.

Was in bad cell area.  Missed out on Hunter.  Got to museum too late but saw him being taken away.

To Meg:

* Incoming phone call from Brenda Eskin - not a text. *

"Hello, in the middle of something, please tell me you don't have an emergency right now."

To Meg from Brenda:
"Well, not right now, no. But remember what you said about Rodger maybe having a task from whoever had him that week? I think I got a few more clues about it. Rodger came home in the worst depression I've ever seen him in, worrying himself sick that he's going to have to murder someone."

  Meg said "Well, we all went down to City Hall and registered today.  Well, the rest of us.  Including Rodger.  I did it yesterday.  Maybe they have some ideas, or he was already registered?"

"Well... I think he was at the registration office. I haven't asked, since I don't think he knows that I know. But part of his gloomy thoughts did center on a registration card. For some reason he thinks the clerk registered him as a supervillain, although the only thing he's said out loud was one mention of my not having security clearance, then acting for all the world like he'd said something he really shouldn't have."

  Meg nodded, and said "Remember how I said that he was linked?  That I've sensed others that match?  Well, maybe he got into something when he disappeared, and it's high government security, so he's not ALLOWED to tell you?"

"No, I don't remember that... are you sure it was me you told, Meg? What's this about a link?"

  Meg said "Maybe I only mentioned it to Rodger.  You know I can scan?  Well, I sort of sometimes to it on passive auto.  Rodger's biofields are NOT unique."

"So there are other people out there suffering through - whatever this is, too? Would one of the people you've sensed be a scruffy man named Johnny, who harangues people at Weston Mall about the end of the world like a sleazy preacher or a cultist? That's who he went to when I tried to get him to talk to somebody about what's bothering him, but apparently it didn't help."

  Meg said "Fair assumption.  But they may know more than Rodger does.  I can't say, yet.  Can I call you back in a little?  Things are probably about to get hairy where I am, and the cell reception may go downhill fast."

"Oh, of course. Talk to you later Meg."
