Re: Weston Superior Court.

Both Oswald the Elder and Ozzy the Younger were there, and both were dressed in their finest clothes. Mr. Gysbourne looked quite comfortable in his usual attire, and though Ozzy was rather handsome with his hair nice and neat and his dark green three piece suit, he gave off the impression as if he felt he'd been wrapped in that itchy pink insulation and forced to stand still. The only comforting thing were his glasses, which were re-fitted with lenses that didn't modify vision, only changed from clear to black when hit by UV radiation, just like his old ones.

In Ozzy's mind, his conversation with his grandfather while they'd been en route was still reverberating between his ears.

"Grandpa, why am I going again?"

"Because you know Mr. Derring, and are going to show your support."

"Uh-huh. And why am I wearing THIS?"

"I told you, it would look suspicious if you just stopped wearing glasses altogether. After all, that 'oh I lost them' cover story of yours was only going to hold so long at school."

"Grandpa, you know what I mean. The suit. Why in the world did you have to make me wear a f... flamin' suit?"

"Because, boy, you are the heir to the Gysbourne name. I'll not have you appearing at such a serious occasion while looking like you just shuffled in off the streets."

Ozzy sighed again, hoping some sort of trouble would call him away. He'd give ANYTHING to get out of here. Fortunately, Grandpa had let him keep his mp3 player on him, as well as the headphones, which luckily folded up and more or less fit in one of the coat's pockets. The only thing that he'd had to change was the location of the button, which was now hidden beneath his coat.

There was more shouting as Hunter made his way into the courtroom The crowd stayed outside as the door closed behind the accused vigilantie anyone who needed to be in there was already in there
Outside not far from the collected New Age Defenders a reporter woman and Camera man are reporting on the events.
"And here we are at the historic trial of Donald Derring former Army Special Forces Sergeant who is rumored to have brutally killed dozens of people in a one man war on crime which has wreaked a toll on our fair city. As you can see here there is a large crowd gathered some in support and others in condemnation of his acts. We'll spend some time talking to a few of the m to get their opinions."

"I'll live, but I swear, I'd be more comfortable if I was naked. I hate dressing up. I'd say take a picture for proof, but knowing Grandpa here, I'll be in this thing a lot. What's up with you, Meg? How've you been?" he said, managing a smile despite a discomfort.

Oswald the Elder sighed and shook his head. "I do apologize for his rudeness, Miss Kattakara, but it seems the boy has forgotten his manners. He tends to do that a lot."

Ozzy rolled his eyes and muttered, "Sweet Zombie Jesus, not this again..."

This was met with a quick, sharp rap on the shoulder with the head of Grandpa's cane.

"Mind your tongue, young man! There's a lady in our presence!"

Dragon Fist had spent most of the last week searching for the whereabouts of his brother (presumably with no success). It appeared that The Dark Champion had stooped to a new low...this battle had usually been between just the two of them, but now...

But...the trial of Hunter was in commencement...and Dragon Fist knew that Hunter would need all the help and support he could get...even if he himself wasn't going to admit it.

Nodding at Meg and Ozzy, he took a seat not far from them as the trial made ready to begin...

Rodger had come to the courthouse, dressed in a conservative navy business suit and striped tie, with a heavier overcoat and an old fedora as protection from the cold.

Unless someone knew about him, he showed no outward sign of being anything more than a middle-aged man in the crowd, although if asked why he was here he readily admitted to being one of Derring's tenants, and concerned over whether or not his family would still have a place to live after this trial.

There are far too many people who use lethal or potentially lethal force in crimes, and if superheroes are going to be sanctioned, even sponsored by the government, they really ought to be held to a higher moral and ethical standard than the troublemakers they are stopping."

Seemed like an awfully short day in court, to him, but perhaps there were witnesses and arguments that couldn't be presented today for whatever reasons. Amazing that jury selection would have gone by so fast with a prominent case, however, he mused to himself.

An idea suddenly crossed his mind, wondering if somewhere in his mess of spells was a means to talk to Don, suit-to-suit, or even to eavesdrop through his senses while he was in the courtroom. But if there was, he didn't know which spell or how to use it, so it remained just an idea.

Re: Weston Superior Court.

Ozzy nodded and said, "Oswald Michael Gysbourne, and my social is *number*. And here's the five bucks."

He then grinned down at Clarissa and said, "Indeed we do! How should we celebrate, love?"

The clerk finished filling it out, and notarized it, then handed it to Ozzy.  "I think Judge Reams is about done with court, would you like me to have one of the bailiffs show you to his chambers?"

  Clarissa replied {{Love, OMG fits.  Because oh my GOD are you mind blowingly good!!}}

Ozzy smiled and asked, "Actually, her mom's in the hospital, and we were wondering if he could come down there? You know, so she could be present. She got hurt in a parahuman incident last night. Er, not me I swear. I don't hurt people who don't want to hurt other people."

Clarissa nodded, and said "Please?  He saved my Mom from mutation, by taking the shot himself."

The clerk nodded, and said "I'll ask him for you.  Now you two kids go get ready for what I hope is the happiest day of your life."

Ozzy grinned and handed the clerk his registration card, saying, "If you think that'll help convince him, feel free to use it. I know the picture's a bit old, but that's me. Like she said, I got mutated in the line of duty."

Ozzy shrugged and said, "Sure. I kinda wanted to wait for the judge, but meh. I figured we could at least give the poor guy a ride, so he wouldn't burn any gas. Stuff's expensive!"

Re: Weston Superior Court.

A few minutes later, a late middle aged man who looked almost emaciatedly thin in long black robes came down the hall toward them.  He called "Are you the two wanting to be married?"

Clarissa tilted her head, and said "Bet he's a light weight!"

Judge Reams smiled, and said "I would be delighted.  I only ask that you give me a photograph of you in your wedding clothes after all is said and done.  I firmly believe that civic minded, respectable young parahumans like yourselves, who are being responsible, registered, and doing the right thing should be given all the support they can get."

Clarissa smiled, and said "That sounds more than fair to me."

Ozzy grinned and said, "Thanks! It's good to hear you say that. You hear so much about anti-para activity that you forget there are people who actually appreciate what we do."

He then kneeled and held Clarissa against his chest with one hand, while he made a step for the judge to climb on his back if he wished with the other, saying, "Shall we?"

Once the judge was good and situated, Ozzy took to the air, headed for the hospital!
