Re: Weston city park - Children's Festival on the Green

Donnie smiles widely at Maverick, but tries to dial back his excitement to seem more 'cool' and 'aloof'. "That'd be cool. I'd probably be real good at it, since I can fly. But you don't have to, I know your gonna be real busy with your new hobby" The way he emphasized the last two words making it sound like he was trying to imply something, as subtly as a 7 year old could.

Donnie shot a grin at Mittens. "That sounds super fun, but I doubt we could get away with it without Dad or Grandpa around."

Re: Weston city park - Children's Festival on the Green

Situations like this are why it's hard to take seriously any claims that Mittens can't take things seriously.  Because trying to make vengeful angels as boring as possible is hard work, even when they already came with pamphlets.

"I think the biggest issue for giving a 'fast' Disney tour Mittens, would be the fact you still need to wait in line without paying extra.  Though it would certainly cut down on walking between all the best rides."

He considers the stack of pamphlets he's been tasked with, and his own track record. "...Think I'd get away with just pulling a Mittens and handing out balloon animals, if it was for charity?  Because I feel that might still annoy vendors trying to sell balloons fifty feet away."

Re: Weston city park - Children's Festival on the Green

Maverick widens his eyes at Mittens as if the thought hadn't occurred to him that she can just go to any and all themeparks in a day... and then Matt reminded him of the reality. Yes, you could TECHNICALLY go to them all in a day, but you couldn't ride all the rides in a day and you'd also be breaking the law if you didn't wait through the lines outside those parks. But Matt also made the point of "spending more money" implying that "I get to come in for free all the time" pass. So.. still feasible?

"Going to all the themeparks... thanks for the offer, Mittens. Soon as you have figured out what Matt pointed out, I'm game."

It also occurs to him immediately after that just how amazingly impossible to catch Mittens is and that if she decided to become a villain, she could rob banks, leave bombs all over the place, and all sorts of things without ever being caught. Cameras don't look under chairs or at the inside of safety deposit boxes, after all.

Maverick smirks at Donny and winks. "I'm gonna be spending the night at your place this Saturday, right? Looking forward to that."

He then is handed pamphlets and looks at them. "Oh, OK." He casually hands out the pamphlets even while partaking in the festival's activities with Donny. He does eventually test out Donny's skill at one of the shooting booths, but DEFINITELY wants to do the bouncy castle with Donny. One thing he likes about not growing up so far is being allowed into things like bouncy castles or the ball pit in Chuck-E-Cheese's.

To Matt, Maverick says, "If it's for charity, they wouldn't be able to say anything without looking like jerks. But it would be kind of mean to do that since that's probably their only means of income and they are staying put all day like any other vendor at the festival. But... you coooould make free balloon animals for the orphanage this pamphlet is talking about. Maybe even ask the balloon animal vendors to help with that and everyone wins."

Re: Weston city park - Children's Festival on the Green

Mittens is a well behaved kitty!  She can haz Lifelight cuddles too?  =^.^=

Upon being gifted a double lightsaber, Mits jumps for joy!  "Woohoo!  Thanks times infinity, Di!"

She immediately puts the toy to good use with some authentic Darth Maul techniques!  ( https://youtu.be/3Hrni0z871A?t=10 )  Careful to be sure nobody is in any danger of getting thwacked, of course.  Di is then gifted with an authentic Hong Kong Minnie Mouse Ears Tiara.  (She couldn't resist getting several of each size, so she's still got plenty to spare.)

Mits is mesmerized by Lifelight's color show and Seraph's fireworks because of course she couldn't resist the temptation to check in on them frequently.  Passing out fliers for Lifelight was as natural and automatic as making silly faces at babies.

To Donnie and Mav, Miss Adventure leans in to whisper mischievously, "I know exactly how to get them interested in coming along," and shows them a beer stein from Gaston's Tavern with an exaggerated wink.

To the objections about long lines slowing things down, Mits puts on an air of "I'm awesome," shines her fingernails on her shirt, then busts out a VIP FastPass as an explanation of her confidence, and sings a familiar Disney tune, "Also I have a 'plus guests' membership, You're Welcome, to stretch your days and bring you fun!"

To Matt Mits offers a booklet of 5,100 kid's stickers.  "One sticker per should leave you with plenty for the future while still not troubling anybody."

When Mitts watched Lifelight, she was sure to have her supersuit form a smiley for her at some point. And then the smiley got kitty ears and pigtails.

After Seraph held the little angel close, Lifelight went to wrap herself in one of Seraph's wings. "You hold an angel in your hands. An angel holds me in her wing." she smiles brightly at Seraph. "We should get some food."

Apparently some time has passed, so Mits has had plenty of time to regain an appetite.  Not that she woulda turned down the invite even if full.  The company would have been plenty incentive.

"You bet, Life-of-the-party Light! <3" Mits replies.

Lifelight takes Mittens and Seraph to the food vendors and goes for some pulled pork sandwiches. And a side of salad. ^.^

Lifelight isn't one to initiate conversation (it is difficult for her), but thankfully, Mittens is. And mittens is there.

Maverick follows the girls because he's hungry and gets some noms as well. Besides. He figures Mitts will talk about fun and interesting things.

Re: Weston city park - Children's Festival on the Green

Dane strolled through the park, always alert, but ever so slightly more relaxed than usual. He was between assignments, and had decided to treat himself to a few hours of down time. He'd noticed the festival, of course; the lights, the motion, the distinctive music, the scent of roasted peanuts, and the low murmur of the crowd. Good people, having a good time. On a whim, he decided to investigate further.

He noted the booths serving fried dough, cotton candy, and kettle corn. There were games, where eager contestants tried to cover a large, painted circle with three smaller disks, and failed; shooting games, which he avoided because he saw no need to fleece a poor carnie out of their large stuffed animals; ring toss, where a steady hand could throw rings over bottles, and many more.

Suddenly hungry, he walked over the booth where the smell of meat originated, and said, "Three cheeseburgers, please. With everything you have: pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard."

His pile of food in hand, with a drink, he wandered over to the picnic tables and found an empty bench.

Matt has given out an indeterminate amount of children's stickers.  But we're pretty sure it was less than 5,100.

As usual, he can't eat. But he can ensure the ice in soda won't melt prematurely.  "Mittens, is your protagonist sense tingling?" The hairy lady is much better qualified for outbursts of 'Hey, it's that guy!' after all.

OOC: Rise from your grave-wait, Matt already did that before.

"I would like one of those enormous turkey legs and an icy cold Coke, please," Seraph told the person manning the food counter.

Once her food was ready she happily joined the others in sitting down and having a bite of the first real food she had eaten in days. When Serena was on a long binge she drank her meals so solid food was as welcome as the company.

"Thanks a bunch for giving me some focus, Lifelight," Mits says, bouncing in her seat with a smile, "Helps reduce my Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny!"

She was sure to avoid having too much sugar since she's plenty hyper as it is.  And sadly, they put looots of sugar in even pulled pork.  So hamburger it is!  With nothing on it.  She surreptitiously adds a secret sauce and mysterious toppings from her own fridge.

"I understand that Apokryphos kinda doubles as an orphanage it it's own right.  (Funny how they skirt by child laber laws by allowing the kids to 'volunteer.')  Which reminds me of a story some missionary folks from my church told about the Romanian orphanage they went... to...!"

Miss Adventure's eyes widen upon seeing Professor Rips-Alien-Ships-Apart casually nomfing burgers at a nearby picnic table.

In a conversational-volume whisper that doesn't really qualify as a whisper, Mits declares, "Don't look now, but THE Dane Sinclair is right over there!  Oh hey, that rhymes!  Someone wave him over!"

Maverick nods to Mittens and gets up to walk over to Dane. Donny following him or not is up to Donny, but it is at least obvious Donny was part of the entourage Mav just came from. When he gets up to Dane, he says, "Hello, sir. My friends and I would like you to join us."

Maverick motions to the table where the others are hanging out. Personally, Maverick understands when someone wants to eat alone. But if Dane truly wanted to be alone, he would have avoided the Children's Festival.

As Maverick is getting up to go see Dane, Lifelight smiles at Mittens and says softly, "You're welcome." but then looks around to see what shiny Mittens is talking about, not understanding it was a joke.

As if on cue, Lifelight's delayed response to Mittens' request has her smiling and waving at Dane right around the time Maverick gestures to the table Lifelight and the others are sitting at.

She then turns her attention to Serena and offers a bite of her pulled pork.

Dane looked up, a little surprised to see a group of people he knew. A brief look of irritation crossed his face, directly inwardly that he could have allowed himself to relax so much, but then it passed as quickly as it came.

He set his 2nd burger down, and gave the approaching group a friendly wave. "Hey. Sorry, didn't see you all there. That's what I get for not paying attention."

Then he asked, "I suppose it makes more sense for me to join you at your table, rather than making you all move over here."

Thus resolved, he grabbed his food and stood.

She waved at Dane and made sure there was room for him to join them.

"Mittens refrains from asking Seraph what side of Heaven she's from, fearing it too cheesy a way to ask where she's from originally.  Upon seeing Manly Man accept the invitation, our feline heroine looks for ways to cool her inner fangirl reactor lest she have a nuke-squee-lar explosion."

"Wait.  Ostrich?  Isn't the consumption of exotic wildlife illegal?"

The bionic A.I. voice in Mittens' head informs her that, "The common ostrich is farmed around the world.  It is claimed to be the healthiest red meat alternative.  Boasting more health benefits than skinless chicken breast and turkey, Ostrich is 99% fat-free."

Mits blushes to once again have opened her mouth to remove all doubt of her ignorance.

He looks at Mittens with her self-narrating. "You could always earn him a plushie."

If Dane blushes, that brings him more down to Earth. If he looks unamused, that would be a killjoy. Either one of those would lessen the overactive fangirl emotions.

She noms a bite of the turkey out of Seraph's hand. After nomming, she looks at Mittens and ohs. She looks at the vendor's menu, as if double-checking. Then back to Mittens. "It is turkey."

Lifelight looks at Dane with a smile. But before she can say anything, some unhappy yelling children can be heard outside the food court. Sounds like it is coming from the direction of the bouncy castle. Doesn't sound like screams or anything, but definitely protests.

Dane chuckled. "I did see Matt in space. As a soldier, we're trained to look for logical, linear explanations for things. Which served very well until I met you folks, especially HER..., with a nod to Seraph, "And most especially HIM." nodding at Matt. "The exact physics of walking around unseen with the tail of a huge scorpion sticking out of the back of your head completely eludes me, but as Lo Pan said, to Jack Burton, 'You were not put on this Earth to GET IT, Mr. Burton.' Words to live by."

He looked over at the odd conversation between Maverick and Mittens, looking confused, and amused. "What's a plushie? A stuffed animal? Probably wouldn't go with my decór, which can be summed up as, 'Make the Spartans Look Like LIberace' but I appreciate the thought."

"The wonders of retractable anatomy certainly helped out, Dane. Though I don't bother hiding it as much these days, to be fair.  I'm sure there is a shallow metaphor for my subconscious in there somewhere."  But hey, that's still comparatively minuscule compared to what Dane saw in space anyways.

"Though maybe you should try your luck with a knife toss again, for more movie quote reasons." All in the reflexes... Wait, would that only work in a 'knife thrown at you, THEN throw knife' game?

Wait, wait. Matt has no longer been a normal jaded teenager for some years now.  So even without leaning into his wildly arbitrary Awareness he picks up on kids being disappointed(?) nearby.  "Mittens, is the bouncy castle being hogged by idiots or are we dealing with an actual problem here?"

She turned to look at Mittens. "Actually ostrich is eaten quite widely. There are farms in Australia that raise them for meat so I've had ostrich before. I was simply being silly in regards to the size of this leg. Any bigger and I'd start looking for a one-legged T-Rex."

Drat!  Mittens was hoping her lack of edible bird knowledge would have been overlooked.  But now she's imagining momma Seraph telling little Seraph, Eat your ostrich, Hon.  That's how you grow up to have big strong wings.  But momma!  Ostriches are flightless!

What's a plushie?  Was this guy never a small child?  Was he born with a shotgun in his hands?  Then he neeeds a little fluffy critter in his life...  And sadface that minimalism makes it that much more difficult to give gifts to the guy.  Oh well.  Olive Garden gift certificates are generally well received.

"And then thoughts get derailed by sounds of children in distress!  Being the nosy kitty she is, Mits immediately opens a window to the bouncy castle so the question can be answered by what is seen through it."
