Re: Legacy's new digs

Going into the confines of the building Hotwire takes off his mask and goggles, allowing his glowing green eyes to be easily seen.  Moving through the building quickly he mutters to himself under his breath as he explores, grinning as he sees the labspace.  Oh this was just what he need.

"Reed ain't got shit on me in these digs.  Er...  us!  I mean us!"

He's absolutely giddy.  Looking over some of the communications equipment he thumps a few fingers against his chin something seemed to be right.  But what?  What was it that he needed.  There!

They had plenty of communication equipment and they wouldn't miss one and it had the parts he needed.  A twitch comes to his right jaw as he looks around before quickly disassembling the communication equipment and pulls out a few microchips that were within it.

The next stop was the med labs.  He needed...  something.  Again what he wasn't quite sure.  Muttering to himself he sets the microchips aside and starts moving quickly through the inventory of the medlabs as well as other equipment in the building.  If what he was looking for was here, he was sure to find it, and somehow instinctively he'd know it when he found it.

Lucas had the bus drop him off a couple of blocks away. He then looked down at the piece of paper he wrote the address on that Hotwire gave to him.

He continued to walk until he looked up at the building that was now their HQ.

"My God....this is the place?"

He then walked in, looking to see if he could find anyone.

Re: Legacy's new digs

"Yeah."

Zeke was definetly still distracted.  To an extent it seemed he had found what he was looking for, or atleast found things that he could substitute for now.  There were already several pitri dishes sealed up with chemical notations all starting with carbon.

There was a small aquarium sitting infront of him that he was watching intently.  It is empty except for a small patch of pinkish flat glob sitting at the bottom of the aquarium.  Written in black marker along the front are the words 'DO NOT TOUCH'.

His fingers were tapping quickly, furiously and his brow was furrowed as he watches the glob intently.

"Ugh... wish I had a clue what was going on here.  Any leads about those daggers yet?"

The Pitiless are believed to be the next target of this thief...whoever he or she is...Ozzy...or Painter..one of the New Age Defenders....has wizard connections, so he was checking out a lead on it..."

Re: Legacy's new digs

"Pretty much, apparently it was the Tome that Enigma used so he didn't blow himself up with his handwaving.  As for the Dagger's, they're believed to be able to kill anything.  They're at the museum."

He frowns as he taps at the aquarium, the single glob growing and then seperating into several more globs.  Zeke curiously tilts his head and gives a little sniff.  Something really didn't smell right.  Picking up a pen he drops it carefully into the aquarium and it begins to rapidly dissolve.

"I'm not sure what it's supposed to be entirely.  But apparently this particular strain is capable of asexual reproduction and produces an acid as a byproduct of sugar.  Useful but not exactly what I think I'm wanting to work on."

Giving a slow sigh he sits up and starts to get equipment to drain the aquarium of what apparently has become mostly acid now.

Re: Legacy's new digs

Draining the acid with care and precision he closes the container and moves to dispose of it, then carefully disposes of the samples and aquarium as well so as not to contaminate the rest of his experiments.  He then moves to the medical lab to run a few simulations.  Apparently the eighth pitri dish would have the same byproduct, though that acid would probably even eat through glass.  Great.  He removes the eighth pitri dish and destroys that sample as well.  Picking up the first pitri dish and looks to the seven others still sitting on the tray.  This was going to be a long process.

"Hopefully you atleast give me an idea of what's going on here."

Setting up a new aquarium he places the sample in the aquarium after filling it with water.

Not waiting for Hunter's response, Lucas then began to look around at this new complex. Had the City funded this for Legacy? Friday would have been proud....

...if she were here....

Face it Lucas...she's probably going into a situation that is going to keep her away for a long time...time to move along...plus you've got your own problems to worry about..

He then walked back into the room with Hotwire and Hunter...unsure of this "experiment" that he was running, but still lost in his thoughts.

So...what now? Is the Legacy going to stay together? And where's Mirage?

Re: Legacy's new digs

Zeke had been waiting for a bit for the first sample to reproduce.  As soon as he introduced sugar and a few basic amino acids into the water the sample reproduces at an incredible rate.  In the forty gallon tank there are soon fifty to sixty small one inch by one inch flat floating patches of flesh like critters.  Tilting his head to one side he gives a soft sigh and then blinks.  He gives a little nod over towards Hunter.  Makes sense he tried to steal them.  They'd be useful tools all in all.

Grabbing some tongs he carefully picks up one of the flesh like critters and sets it in a bowl nearby.  Looking to the forty gallon tank the remaining critters move towards the side of the aquarium closest to the fish bowl, the movement is mirrored by the single critter in the fish bowl.

"Hunter, help me out for a second?"

Grabbing a white curtain he sets it between the fish bowl and aquarium.  Picking up a notebook and pencil.

"Let me know what, if anything, they do."

They don't do anything for a short while but soon they make very rapid movements.

Soon though they make several shapes.  A square, a circle, a house and the outline of the Decepticon symbol.

"Interesting.  They even did it the right order.  And in time.  For all intents and purposes apparently instant communication.  Fascinating."

Pulling the screen back so that they both could see he holds out the flash cards he had drawn.  The Decepticon symbol had more detail to it than the outline, but there were not enough critters for the symbol to be completed.

"So, it would seem we have things that can communicate with each other.  And they are able to transmit images.  If images as well, why not thoughts.  I know with Friday around we had ourselves our own little network, but this...  well it can keep the need for telepaths to be jumbling around our heads to almost nothing.  Excellent."

Zeke is grinning ear to ear, until the critters in both the aquariam and the fish bowl suddenly stop moving and float slowly to the surface.  The upper part of them rapidly drying and breaking into dust.

"Apparently they are extremely short lived however.  Still, atleast I have an idea of what I'm dealing with here.  Hmmmm...  I'll call it the Thelarian Network.  After the Thelarian Mindslug of Alpha Ceti V of course."

Re: Legacy's new digs

Zeke had a few things to do just now.  Watching this critter again would be a bit annoying.  Standing he stretches slowly and decides to explore the area a bit more.  Heading for the gym he sets his labcoat aside and heads in to get changed.  Coming back out he's dressed in a slightly loose fitting gui.  From the folds of it he pulls an item about the size of a maglight out.  Inspecting it carefully he twirls it a few times away from him, still trying to get used to the balance.  And in many ways the lack there of.  Breathing slowly he holds the emitter away from himself and the crimson blade errupts from the handle with the telltale humming sound of an energy sword.  Setting his feet he gives a little smirk to himself as he moves few the last several lessons he had missed at Tanaka Dojo as well as the few recent ones that he managed to make.  All in all he was a fast learner and since it was technology he was learning the energy blade a lot faster than the Kendo form.  Of course, he had to adjust for the fact he didn't want any of the blade touching his chest or the rest of his body.

He works up a bit of a sweat, the smirk still on his lips as he tosses the hilt in the air and catches it easily with his other hand.

"Heh.  Told'em I was a digital Jedi."

Looking at the hilt he gives it a few more practiced twirls in a flourish.  Holstering the hilt he gives another slow breath, looking to his hands.

"Hmmm...  Atlantean Anti-gravitational device huh?  I wonder..."

Breathing again he looks to a few of the free weights laying around, nothing heavy just a few five pounds weights.  He gives a little high but low pitched cackle, immitating Yoda.

"Mmmm   hm hm mm...  The Force surrounds us.  Binds us together.  It is in you.  Me.  The rocks.  And yes even those weights."

Taking a breath he gets serious.  Closing his eyes and visualizing the weights.

"All right, just calm your mind.  Feel the Force flow through you young Padawaaahhhhhh!"

Zeke goes flying several yards in the air, crashing into a wall, knocking the wind out of him.  Landing on the ground in a slump he groans slightly.

"Oww...  yeah... that was...  that was.... OWWWWWW!  Ugh."

Wincing he slumps a bit more, closing his eyes and just giving his head a chance to stop swimming.

There's a good sized crack in the drywall a few yards up the wall where he hit.  Obviously this was the gym designed for the mundane members of the Legacy.

The wind got knocked out of him for sure and he cracked a few ribs when he smacked into the wall.  Despite all that, there is still a little smirk and a soft snicker that is expelled after he looks at her.  It's pretty obvious he's already a little loopy from the natural painkillers in his body.

"Again Meg, thanks for coming.  I know it wasn't all that serious but still, good to be healed."

Heading along he gets to the lab where unsurprisingly there was just one single waffer thin 1 inch but 1 inch patch of what looks like flesh.  Giving a breath he looks at his watch and shakes his head.  Picking up a few read outs he had gathered on the information he flips through the pages.  Setting them side by side he looks over the results for pitri dish two and three.  Tilting his head to the side curiously he pulls on a lab coat.

"Interesting.  These strands are close but, there's something..."

He blinks slowly as he looks to the chromosomes.  Tapping his fingers against it and sighs, shaking his head slowly.

"Damn...  well maybe this can still work anyway."

Picking up the third pitri dish he drops the duplicate waffer thin patch of flesh looking critter into the aquarium with the critter from the second pitri dish.

"Thanks for taking that, Meg.  We should still have plenty of them at Machinesmith's Lab.  Between playing god and practicing with my energy blade emitter I havn't really had much time to move our stuff."

That being said he looks back to the work infront of him.

With that he absorbs into the building, searching the information super highway around the payphone in question, looking for any cameras that might be in the area that could have picked up anything.  As well as cameras around the outside of the home where the abduction apparently took place.

Re: Legacy's new digs

Zeke had barely left the building for the past few days, his apartment pretty much being allowed to be completely taken over by his guest.  He had a garage, equipment and a room available to him here, that's all he really needed.  Plus he had two projects he had been working on.  He had to smile and take pride in his work.  The computer was finished, he just needed to show it to the representative of the government and see if they would be willing to purchase them.  The first one being done he was sure he could produce more rather easily.  Show others how it was made.  Or he could just sell the plans to the government as well, it'd probably be easier to just do that.

The other project was at what he considered to be the final testing phase, or atleast the start of it, and that was what he was watching now.

The aquarium infront of him was teaming with life, several other aquariums lined the room with different dates listed as to when the lifeforms in them were created.  They showed to have asexual reproduction as well as the possibility of extended life outside of a host as well as communication among each other.  There was no harmful after effects either.  Thankfully Meg had been rescued, he still hadn't got the whole story, in some ways he wasn't sure he wanted to hear it but he was glad to have her back.  For many reasons.  Looking up for a moment he gives a soft sigh, giving a phone call to Meg.

Slipping one hand into hers and the other wraps around her in a hug, pulling her close.  Thankfully her mom was able to help and if it was a demon possession it was probably best that he wasn't there.

"Alright, it's good to see that you're safe."
...
He grins and looks over towards Machinesmith.

"Here's hoping.  I had Meg call them a few days ago, still waiting on a rep to show up."

Pulling back reluctantly from the hug he gives a breath then heads over for the oldest listed aquarium.

"These little guys will probably not last the longest outside a host so probably good to get all but one in.  Gotta see how long they can last without a host, after all.  Unfortuantly."

Picking up a pair of forceps he picks out one and looks to Meg.

"Think I said it before, but calling it the Alpha Ceti network.  And these are Alpha Ceti Mindworms.  This may feel a little...  alright it's probably going to feel very weird.  Just hold your breath, hopefully it doesn't take that long for it to do what it needs to do."

Moving to place the critter below her nose, which it will then promptly crawl up and into her brain.

"Pretty much."

Zeke shakes his head a little again, moving to one of the more recent tanks and pulls down a screen to block the sight of the other tanks, just incase.  Standing so Machinesmith can see him, the card and the other tanks he removes one of the critters from its tank and quickly places it in the empty one.  As he holds the flash cards up, each with different shapes, the critters in the other tanks move to mimic the shapes.

"Apparently they are capable of communicating with each other, able to transmit pictures as well as ideas to each other.  Meg and I are able to do that as well, it takes a little getting used to but it does take a purposeful thought to transmit the message to someone else.  After all I'm not getting Meg's thoughts of how sexy I am when I talk tech and explain my scientific breakthroughs."

Carefully placing the critter back into its original tank he gives a little smirk.

"Course in a way I guess I'm more of a parasite than these little guys.  I don't really study I just learn from the research of others and then hyper-expand on it.  Thankfully there wasn't any side effects from Excel giving me his powers.  That could have been...  terrifying.  Though I have a feeling it did allow me to better understand other things that I would be exposed to.  This little situation for example.  An interesting mix of biology, technology and magic was the inspiration for this next step of communication technology.  Heh, guess this would ruin that asshole Steve Jobs, huh?  With all his better than you, black tight wearing holier than all the pissants that flock to buy the newest thing he puts out because only they can buy the newest piece of technology."

Muttering quietly under his breath.

"Not my fault I ate my first iPhone..."

Zeke looks over the blueprints and reaches out for the monitor with his one hand.  Brushing his fingers along the screen they blur and seem to meld in with the screen.  Data begins streaming along his eyes.  This was.. far more advanced than...  the implications of everything.  They didn't even have most of the technology invented to make the tools needed to create the craft.  The materials were there, certainly.  But the tools.  Breaking the connection he shakes his head, giving a check to be sure he still had control over the power of the prison before looking back up to Machinesmith.

"Thanks I.. I think I can..  build it but..  shit..  where'd that information come from?"

They were all lucky Zeke had not gone to see this little visit by Hunter's future daughter.  Though there was probably a reason for that, too.  Zeke is likely the one that wrote the rules to prevent time travel in the first place.

Re: Legacy's new digs

Mirage read through the information that the computer system had on the man, but her eyes kept being drawn back to his face.  There was something about that face.  She just couldn't quite put her finger on it.

She printed out his information, intending to track the man down, and then she saw it.  There was a date in the arrest record, a date that she would never forget.

Her eyes widened and Mirage looked back at the image of the man.  The face was impassive on the monitor but she could hear him.  Laughter, black hideous laughter.  It was behind her, seeping into her ears like a viscous liquid.

That face.  She knew that face!

Laughing again.  His head thrown back as he revelled in the power that he held.  Mirage could feel his hands over her, tearing, caressing, ripping, fondling.  Warm hands that were icy to the touch sending chills down to her very soul.  And that laughter again.  There were other voices.  Shrill, high voices, feminine terror personified, shrieking, crying.  And that laughter.

Mirage shook, her body trying to process the memories coursing through her.  Her fists balled up, muscles tensed.  She cried.  Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.  Mirage fell to her knees and cried.

She threw her head back and screamed.

Re: Legacy's new digs

Mirage spent several minutes on her knees, tears streaming down her face.  Images flashed through her mind like a badly directed and editted montage.  Her sister.  Pain.  Laughing.  The sound of crying.  Laughing.  Gunshots.

Always there was that laughing.  Smug, male, powerful laughter.

She was going to find this man.  Find him, beat him to within an inch of his life and then smile as she pushed him those final few inches into oblivion.  All of her pain and anguish, all of the sadness in her life, all centred around this man and what he had done.

Mirage rose to her feet.  She was no longer weeping, that mood had exhausted itself.  There was only a mask of grim determination on her face.  Her image shifted, responding to her mood, her anger.  Her wide hat and slinky dress disappearing into thin wisps of crimson smoke.  Her skin changed to a darker hue and her clothing grew more jagged and dangerous.

She let out a scream of rage as she threw a chair into the computer system.  The large main monitor shattered and sparked but it did little to quell her mood.

She was going to find this man.  She'd have her hands around his throat and she'd smile as she squeezed his...

Her cell phone chimed, indicating a message.  Mirage was tempted to ignore it.  Tempted but she did not.  It was about Friday.  Mirage sneered at the message, conflicted.  Friday was her friend, a very close friend, much like Lucas.  If the woman had gotten herself into trouble, could Mirage refuse to go to her aid.

She looked back at the banks of monitors.  Each one showed her foes face and vital information.  She destroyed the monitors, sending nearby furniture into them and then her fists when she ran out of things to throw.  The room was trashed by the time she was finished.

She'd find this man.  If he was able to track her, find out where she was, then her sister was in danger.  He might decide to use her as bait.  Maybe she could get him to follow her if she went to go and help Friday.

Satisfied that her foes image was no longer seen, Mirage stalked out of the room.

"I'm fine." Mirage lied.  She didn't even try to disguise her answer as she looked behind the pair at the tank that Zeke had been playing around with.  There were several slimy slug like creatures swimming about in the liquid.  The tank earned a disgusted look from her.

"Put one of those things in me?  I think I'll pass." she said, not bothering to hide her disgust at the idea.  Zeke was breeding telepathic slugs to go into people?  Couldn't he ever do anything normal?  She wasn't going to be staying here if he was doing these sorts of things.

"Your flight is in a few hours, eh?  We can probably find one sooner."

A beaping started from a nearby monitor and Zeke looks up to it, giving a slow sigh as he clicks it on.  A message about the break in at the school being sent to them to look into, if they could.

"What the fuck are we now?  The super friends?"

Muttering under his breath he shakes his head slowly and goes back to his room, without his needed coffee, and grabs his goggles and mask, completely forgetting he's still wearing just his sweatpants and a tank top.  Absorbing into the power grid of the city after giving off a quick message.

"The more things change."

It's a half hearted attempt at humor as he looks over the damage done to the base.  He was going to need to work on making the place more secure.  This damage wasn't done by his assailant from what he could figure.  Most of it anyway.  Shaking his head he starts moving about cleaning up what he can of tables, chairs and the like.  The technical stuff could wait till later.  Moving a chair he feels his arms and legs start to shake and he collapses onto the ground, arms wrapping around his stomach as he curls into a fetal position.  Tears beginning to flow freely down his cheeks.  Broken quiet words coming through his sobs.

"I'm sorry..  I'm.... so..  so...  sorry."

Hearing the code being punched and a small epiphany on his part brings him out of his sorrow.  By the time Hunter would find Zeke, it would sort of be like the technopath had never left.  Most of the area still had the signs of Hunter's fight but he had got a few computers and monitors functional again.  Multi-tasking to a whole new level he was catching up on recent events and finding out what he could about the death of Machinesmith.  He was spending a lot of time looking over the newest trend of 'Para-Parties' however.  The grief and sorrow of Machinesmith was still there, as were stains from multiple tears running down his face, but from the looks on his face there was just grim determination left.  Each coroner's report, each name, each face being commited to memory.  Another list was forming on a monitor at his side.  At the top was Robert Lee Ermey.

"Robert Ermey.  It isn't a typo."

The voice comes out rather plain as he unabsorbs from the computer system, hands still positioned to be touching three keyboards to be able to do the work he needed to do.

"He is a retired Marine Corp Drill Instructor.  His official military records have him listed as Ronald Lee Ermey.  You would probably recognize him as the Drill Instructor on Full Metal Jacket.  I am going to approach him and offer him a position as a Drill Instructor for a series of Boot Camps I am going to develop for a college I will be organizing.  To help train those wishing to be heroes.  It is a secondary response to this series of 'Para-Parties' teenagers seem so hell bent on throwing now."

He pauses somewhere in there to adjust his glasses slightly.  Apparently the few weeks he spent in space hasn't changed him one bit.

"Oh, any idea where Machinesmith's murderer was incarcerated?  I am guessing that the 'old friend' he refered to was Brain but with a time traveler, who knows.  Maybe trying to assassinate us was a last ditch effort.  Could have tried other key moments in the developement of para-humans as they are now to try to stop the events of the future without such drastic actions needing to be taken."

It's said in that same quiet tone he had been using with the other explanation.

"Someone attacked me here, too.  Didn't really get a look at them, think it might have been the aforementioned time traveling assassin.  I hid in the wiring of the building and sorta had my attention pulled to a shuttle launching that lunar probe.  I'm the reason it splashed down near Weston instead of Los Angeles like it was supposed to.  And you'd be surprised how well mechanical suits can hide if they give it some thought.  Stealth technology.  Teleportation.  Celluar excretion.  Any number of explanations can be used for a giant robot hiding itself.  Always prefered the Tranzor Z method though."

Putting just a little of himself into the keyboard he starts running a search for Richard Taylor.  He'd need a description of him so many years in the future, though, to have an age range to look for.

"No problem, besides in some ways there isn't a reason to confront the Dr. Taylor of this day and age.  Assuming that the Dr. Taylor at Weston University is even the guy we're looking for.  Still, think I might look into him in my own special way.  Following the breadcrumbs he leaves online.  Nothing I can't do from here or the safety of the information superhighway."

He pulls that Taylor's file from the list to help it stand out but he keeps looking to see if there were any outside of the city of Weston.  All in all it seemed like there was some connection with Weston and the Parahuman explosion, but that didn't mean in the future others would be effected.  Still with Legacy being here, it would make sense that Weston would be in one of the first strikes.  Tapping his fingers a few times a smirk slowly forms on his lips.  He could multi-task sure but now.  Typing in a few commands he starts a search, digging up information, setting up a program that would search the network of people that this likely suspect would know while filtering through the others.  Cracking his knuckles slowly he looks to the jet.  If it was a trap, likely while he was building it he would discover if someone could remote pilot it or sabotage it in some other way, and he could fix that situation as he came across it.  First though, he was going to make something a little more effective than a computer search.  And something he could access at any point.

"Did Machinesmith leave any recordings?  Any goodbyes or anything?  Other than his will?"

The will and biography had hit Zeke pretty hard, it was like dealing with the loss all over again, just when he was ready to move on.

{{Sorry about the delay, Iris.  I hope Meg is alright.  Things got pretty big around here, I just watched the biography and will of Machinesmith.  I'm back though.  Got some work to do though.  A lot of work.}}

Even through the mindworm network he gives a soft breath, a lot was weighing on him, gone was the jokes for now.  Starting up his cellphone he looks through the numbers at the HQ and calls their contact to the Department of Defense, figuring that'd be the best course of action.  When the phone is picked up.

"Hey, this is Ezekiel, or Hotwire.  Listen, I need to speak with the President and anyone else you feel should be there at their earliest convenience.  I figure someone from the DOD and new Paranormal branch of the military should be there, too.  Also going to need to arrange one of those speeches infront of the media things.  Press conference, right.  Just get back to me once you've made the appointment please.  Thanks."

A breath is given as he hangs up the phone, arching an eyebrow at the news of the Legacy Movie and who had just been signed for it.

"A movie?  Really.  Shit Hollywood really is dragging their knuckles if the only thing they can think of doing is a movie about people that have only been around for a while.  Money grubbing no imagination dregs."

Standing up he stretches slowly and heads for the kitchen to get himself a bowl of cereal.

"I wonder who they're going to get to play me."

The meeting and press conference had gone well, and now he was back in town.  All in all he was having a pretty good day.  There was a lot of paperwork and other work to get done with everything that was happening.  Cracking his knuckles he sits down at his desk, looking over the file that had been sent with him.  Paging through it he gives a slow sigh.  He knew what he wanted to do, but wanted to talk with some people first.  See if he could get some information outside of 'official' channels.  Probably a good time to take Don up on that offer for dinner.

Thankfully this was quiet enough that it would only be heard by those in the Foyer.  Zeke was in one of his moods.

Speaking of which they would find him surprisingly enough not in a lab but in what serves as their library.  Given he was actually reading his sunglasses had been set aside, allowing his electric green irises to be seen.  Every so often a spark of current would flow along one of the green 'veins' from the iris to the side of his eye.

Lucas discreetly made his way into the Legacy HQ. The place was quiet...almost eerily so. Which was what he needed right now.

It seemed that this grand sprawling complex offered solitude.

Lucas then made his way into the computer room, and sat down on the chair. It seemed that the demands of being the Champion of Light, not to mention one of Weston's greatest heroes, was starting to weigh on him. It seemed that he didn't have time for himself anymore. So he was taking this unique opportunity to engage in quiet contemplation.

And soon found himself in a restful, blissful sleep.

Lucas slowly began to awaken, feeling a lot more rested than he did before. So much had happened....so much was still happening. He sighed for a moment, rubbing his eyes, then stood up and looked around.

He was surprised that Mirage and Katy weren't screaming at him mentally for being summoned out of the dojo, though he also knew that they could more than take care of themselves.

Lucas knew that he had to mentally and physically prepare for the coming conflict. From what he had heard, this "elder evil" was a force to be reckoned with, and certainly not one to be taken lightly.

The rest however had done him a great deal of good. It had been a long time since he had been able to have some relatively uninterrupted rest periods, as he had been busy with so many issues. It certainly felt like the weight of the world was on his shoulders.

It still was.

Rising from the chair, he exited the HQ, locking up and then heading back to familiar parts.

Zeke, unsurprisingly, had one of the biggest headaches he could ever remember having.  There was empty and quiet, and then there was Zeke muttering under his breath in a pair of boxers, a tank top and a dark blue bathrobe that had been left untied.  Moving around the kitchen of the sprawling complex he digs out the coffee can and starts brewing some up.

"Be it ever so humble.."

It had been too long since he had been back in Weston.  Working with the government, of all organizations, to get the colleges and boot camps set up for people.  And how they would be run, funded, everything.  It was snowballing away from him, at for the most part he was alright with that.  It was just nice to be somewhere he knew he belonged.

Machinesmith had been bouncing from place to place since his latest resurrection. He spent some time staying at the kattakara's some time in a few of his old bases. Now that he was back he felt restless like he needed to do something, he just had no idea what that was. He'd gotten word from the systems he'd set up in the Legacy's base that Zeke, his friend and former apprentice, was finally back in town. The door beeped as a long haired blonde man with a lean muscular build dressed in a pair of slacks and a short sleeved blue button up. He nodded at Lucas as he entered. For a change, Zeke had actually walked.  He could have taken the coffee with him into the power grid but, it just didn't come back out tasting the same.  Drinking the liquid slowly he turns, expecting Lucas and seeing someone else new.  For a building that was out of use it was certainly filling up.

"Not difficult enough it would seem."

There wasn't any of his trademark banter or 'good' nature annoyance.  It was the tone of someone that had just had all the energy to live sucked out of them in one fell swoop.

"I would make a Tony Stark quote right now referencing Consultation Hours but not really in the mood.  So, you found me.  Now what?  And who are you?"

As he talks he sets a hand against a nearby keyboard, bringing up the plans for the jet Huntress gave them.

This was certainly a red letter day.  For the second time he was caught speechless, even to the point that the rush of data and images across the screen came to an abrupt halt.  A shaking hand and arm slowly setting the coffee cup down.  There was just a flood of emotion and doubt that washes over him.  He swallows, forcing the knot in his throat to join the one that had already formed in his stomach.

His weight shifts and finally he gets a little energy, moving to hug his friend and mentor.  That knot returns as he tries to speak, even opening his mouth but nothing comes out except for a sob as a few tears start to form at the corner of his eyes.

"I... didn't get to say good bye to you.  I.."

The debates, the disagreements, his own typical banter beyond all that.  Closing his eyes he just takes a steadying breath.

"I'm glad you're back.  You're the closest to a father that I've ever had."

Slowly pulling away from the hug he swallows and he just wavers a little.

"Ozzy's married?  I really have missed a lot.  I just found out about Mirage."

He looks back to the screen and just cracks his knuckles a little.  Picking up his cup again, taking a drink.

"So what brings you here today?"

It at least gives him a little chuckle, as his hand reaches out for the keyboard again.  To his knowledge the jet hadn't even been given a name yet.  That could be easily remedied.  Phantasm.  He smiles a little at that, it fit.

"Glad to see you are up and around again then.  I've been working with the government lately, thinking about this jet from the future we got but didn't give it a lot of work.  Reverse engineering it to build back up to what it is at.  How about yourself?"

As for the human form of Ozzy, he'd just deal with that situation when he runs into him again.

Appearing back in the lab he stretches just a little, his face dropping, slumping his shoulders just a little bit more.  Pressing it all aside he gives a breath and starts compiling information for the theory to share with Iris.  Giving a nod over towards Machinesmith.

"Any word from Iris?"

Back in his comfort zone and the joy of his mentor being alive passing slightly, he was shifting back to an attitude that was a little off for him.

The door to the lab opening was a bit of a surprise.  Even more of a surprise was who was walking through it.  He takes a breath as he nods, looking to the screen at his side.  There was a list of blueprints and formulas flashing across the screen but come to a halt as his hand leaves the keyboard.  Motioning for Jared to follow him, heading over for a few aquariums.  Picking up a few charts.

"You know, there are more ways to serve than joining a group that teaches you to just follow orders without question.  And yeah, I do have a problem with any government that cries about spending problems and then drops several million dollars into Armadillo research."

His eyes slipping over the charts then settling on one of the tanks.  Each of the four aquariums are filled with several wafer sized flesh toned things swimming and floating in the water.

"Grab one from this tank and just set it under one of your nostrils.  The mindworm will do the rest."

Jared shrugged, and he reached into the tank, deftly grabbed one of the swimming things, and set it under his right nostril, as directed; he tensed a little, finding the entire process way too "Star Trek: Wrath of Khan" for his taste.

He said, "Opinions vary.  While the military is by all means not perfect, it is an honorable career, and is a force for good in the world."

Then a shadow passed across his face, unbidden, and then vanished before he said, "Mostly.  And, armadillos notwithstanding."

He does relent a little at that.

"There are good people in the military.  And to an extent there are some people in the military that I can deal with.  It's more the politics that go into it, and get good men killed because a politician is worried about blowback on their career."

He gives a little smirk to the look on his face as the mindworm does its thing.

"We all respond about like that.  Don't worry, you get used to it.  The worm works with you to filter thoughts and what is transmitted to who.  You can put an all call out to anyone or you can select a few to get it.  You can also send and receive images as well.  They are very realistic."

Then he shook his head again, like a swimmer clearing water from his ear, and he said, "That's it?  We're done?  Then, thank you, I guess... Candy is waiting to take me back, so, I'll see you around."

He paused for the perfunctory return greeting, and then left the lab, walked back to Candy, and said, "All set."

Closing the window for her, he turns back to the computer he had been working on.

"We were given plans for this jet a while ago.  Most of the material doesn't exist.  At least not yet.  But we have the composition, I think we can pull this off, we just have to get creative.  I think the answer lies with a bit of Alchemy.  Sort of.  More for inspirational purposes than anything.  In a way, that's what Einstein's Theory of Relativity is.  Energy equals Mass times the speed of light through a vacuum squared.  It's what the Super Collider does.  Energy divided by C, let's just for the sake of argument say that C is the same as C squared, since it's a constant.  So who's to say the energy used by the Super Collider is the only energy we can use."

Tapping his finger against the screen with the energy signature.

"This is me.  One of the projects I'm working on is figuring out how to protect technology from someone like me.  I become this energy signature when I absorb into something."

Zeke did enjoy their discussions though, even if he was set in his ways, he appreciated hearing someone else's thoughts.  And occasionally they did change or at least expand his views.

The special education teacher they assigned me always seems befuddled when I talk to her, so it's all good."

She looked at the designs, "Is it lighter than titanium? The metal, I mean. That's what I tend to use when I can get ahold of it. It's a good combination of lightweight and sturdy. And if you need some flexibility, then you can always try a beta titanium alloy."

"Mostly non-lethal."  He thinks on that for a little more.  He hadn't killed anyone himself, but at the same time he didn't have a problem with it happening.  Sometimes there was no other choice.  Then there was the image for the team.

"Yeah, non-lethal with some counter measures as well.  I was thinking some lethal might be good in the case of some of the Metahumans we run into.  But usually stuff that is lethal to humans will just piss those off we'd be able to use lethal force against.  So no point in having it.  I'll have to talk with Meg as well then."

He keeps studying the energy signature.  Matter to energy to matter conversion, he did it all the time, at least for his own body.  And when he was given the abilities by Excel, he did it with objects as easily as he breathed.  Getting this puzzle solved was within their ability, he was sure of it.

Iris nodded, "That's good. Most of my stuff is arguably non-lethal. I may have to expand, but I really don't want to. The laser pointer can technically get lethal at short distances if I have it turned up, I guess... But usually the people we fight shrug it off. I need a light-saber." She considered the plane a bit, "Even with light materials and an anti-gravity drive, you're going to want weapons that are lightweight and don't pull much on power. Especially with that drive, actually, because you'll see some slow-down in circulation if the weapon pulls to much, and if they're on a separate battery then there's the chance of a functional plane with non-functional weapons. In other words, the best lethal options you could have would be drop options where the power output is opening a door and letting gravity do the rest. I would recommend lasers, but at a distance there's too much chance of accidental interference. Gotta remember; you're hanging in thin air, and the stronger the weapon, the stronger the kick-back."

After all, weapons were what the project was developing when she was there. She'd learned a lot from the various and sundry doctors who weren't supposed to have let her in their labs.

"Yep, most likely we have.  In a future that no longer exists, when we made these plans.  I'm guessing the sound is me, that's the only batch of this weapon system I can make heads or tails of.  Well, alright I can figure which side of the other weapons I don't want to be on.  But that's about it."

And he has to laugh a bit more.

"Do we even have a car?  I guess there is a garage here, I've never been to it.  Right now we're just going to head over for Meg's house outside the city and wait for her and her mother to show up.  So if you want to stop at McD's, you probably have plenty of time.  Or you could talk to Meg, too.  She was grilling up hamburgers when I was there a bit ago."

Iris grinned, "I'm famished, so I could do both. It's a metabolism thing; Meg's Dad said that it's something about the energies active inside my body that aren't used to being contained. The long explanation gets really esoteric really fast, especially 'cause there aren't any real constants between case studies."

She flicked the metal wing open again, "I'll just fly by and pick something up so that I don't eat all of Meg's burgers. Do you want anything?"

Iris looked at Machinesmith curiously, "I could ride with you, but this is a normal traveling method."

She popped the window and jumped out, clinging to the nose of the board so that she dropped several stories before it kicked in and hovered to light, speeding over nearby buildings to the McDonalds. She did a drive-thru sitting on the top of her hoverboard. It always surprised her how puzzled the window staff were when she flew up and picked up food.

That done and a large bag of food tied to her bookbag, Iris stood and headed for Meg's house.

The  Weston Superhero Museum

>>>>>After Timeskip>>>>>>>>>>

Lucas seemed to be feeling somewhat better after the visit from his old friend, Donald Derring. The loss was still on his mind, but it was softened by his surrogate niece and nephew, Don Jr. and Diantha.

After paying the entrance fee, he walked into the Weston Superhero Museum. All of the various memorabilia of the original Legacy was laid out prominently. Every piece, every display, held countless memories. The statues of each of the original members were shown in great prominence.

Peregrine. Dragon Fist. Hotwire. Hunter. Mirage. Lady Psyche.

So much had been accomplished. The city of Weston and the world saved many times over. And yet...there was so much loss. Peregrine and Mirage....fallen in battle. Hotwire moving on to being a respectable instructor. Hunter now venturing into the world of politics.

And what had Lucas done with his life? Made a lasting impression upon the martial arts community. But for what? Even that great accomplishment seemed hollow to him as he continued to traverse throughout the museum.

Sighing, he put his hands in his pockets as he looked up at the statues of Peregrine and Mirage.

"It's been a while, I know," he said, looking in the direction of the statues. "I....I've done some things that I haven't been proud of. And I know that you wouldn't advocate them either. In being blind to my rage, I became the thing that I hated the most. The thing that I swore that I would never become. For that, I am sorry. Sorry I gave in to the weakness of rage. I hope that, wherever you are, that you please try to find some way to forgive me."

The  Weston Superhero Museum

The display Dragon Fist stood in front of depicted the six founders, standing together as if prepared for battle in their original costumes. Peregrine and Dragon Fist were towards the front, Peregrine poised as if about to take the air, dressed in dark blue motorcycle leathers and black leather jacket with a fabric mask and scarf covering the lower half of her face, the ends of the scarf behind her shoulders as though she were in motion already. Dragon Fist stood with one hand glowing back held ready to strike, his gliding wings unfurled behind him, dressed in his original armor before he unlocked greater power in a battle with the Champion of Darkness. Mirage was slightly back and to the left in her silky long red dress, coat and hat, the only member of The Legacy to never change their look, she held one of her psionic swords as she struck a pose that showed off her figure, exposing one shapely leg and a pouty look on her face. Hunter was dressed in urban camouflage with face mask, short swords crossed behind his back, quiver at his waist and bow in hand as he nocked three arrows at once. Enigma and Hotwire stood in the back Enigma in his wizard's robes flowing about him, a spell book in one hand as the other glowed with energy, Hotwire in cargo pants and a Decepticon t-shirt, crouched down with one hand touching the ground electricity extending from his fingertips.

The Legacy first appeared doing battle with a fire generator parahuman known as Flamethrower. The six founding members simply happened to report to the same scene, but once the villain was defeated they learned he worked for a powerful psychic named Brain. Brain was the first major threat The Legacy faced and one of their deadliest enemies.

In The Legacy's initial appearances their costumes were very simple and utilitarian made from easily available materials. Once the team connected with the MachineSmith he and Hotwire were able to provide suits made of a special lightweight and armored material that closer resembles what we would expect of superheroes.

This information was written on the plaque in front of the display, but it was information Lucas already knew, he had lived it.

Lucas looked at the plaque below the statue display. Everything it read, it brought back memories in a great flood. The experiences helped mold him into the hero that he was today, other experiences steered him towards a darker path.

Several museum goers walked by him, marveling at the authenticate nature of the heroes' likenesses. Lucas smirked, as if he was in on some sort of inside cosmic joke.

"I wonder what he's really like?" one of the patrons said. "His life must be amazing, to have the adoration of millions.." another one said.

Lucas shook his head as the patrons walked off, then looked back at the display again. "If you only knew the price of being a hero. Would you be so eager then?" he asked, seemingly to himself.

His thoughts turned back to that fateful night. The night that changed his life forever. The night that he lost his heart, but gained a new purpose. The hero now stood at a crossroads, inspired by his long time friend Donald Derring to be better than what he was.

It was a lofty aspiration. And a challenge.

"Let's see what else this place has," Lucas said, melting into the crowd of museum goers as he continued to explore the rest of the museum.

He was wanting to interview the families of the deceased but ultimately he felt doing that would just add more stress to people that may not know anything.  Still he had installed a few micro cameras in the area, just to keep tabs on some of them incase his instincts were wrong.

Since coming here, he had felt some of them were off.  Maybe it was just how different this place felt from Gotham City.  After weeks of being away from there, it was almost like a fog had lifted that he didn't know was even there.

Micro cameras were also installed near the location for Lady Psyche's magical informant.  he figured paying a visit there in costume during the day would not be very fruitful.  A place like that just seemed to be more active at night.

So taking a day off from his Uber Job, here he was.  He trusted them, but still it was time to do a little research on this world, get a little caught up in the Hero realm.  The statues of the founders of the Legacy are looked at.  The style of their costumes were not lost on him.  Availability of materials over function and equipment.  Though most of these were not active, still looking to the two fallen members depicted there, he felt a little pang.  A fallen hero was difficult to look at whether you knew them or not.

Quickly though, his steps would lead him to the more recent group, the New Age Defenders.  He had met Fluidity and Excel of course.  Still the others, better to start looking at the more recent history.

Lucas briefly glanced at the newcomer who looked at the Legacy's display. He was most likely some sort of tourist, no doubt drawn into the "Superhero Capitol of the World." He seemed to be a simple admirer, or maybe there was more to him than just mere admiration. At first glance, he seemed unassuming enough.

And in an instant, he was elsewhere. Melted into the crowd of museum goers.

"You're getting paranoid, Lucas," he thought to himself with a chuckle. He then noticed a sign which pointed out the New Age Defenders exhibit, and he was curious what accolades the young heroes had received.

Ozzie Gysbourne seemed to have done well for himself as of yet.. Lucas was a small part of that, but he was glad for the young man.

Putting his hands in his pockets, he then made his way to the New Defenders exhibit.

Both men make their way through the rest of the Legacy exhibit, passing statues and paraphanelia of the individual heroes, speaking of each in greater detail. The exhibits also portrayed major battles and moments in The Legacy's history. The Conflict with Brain, including the Death of Paragon and the liberation of Excel. The conflicts with the Bertelli mob, both with Antonio and Michael. The Demon invasion along with the death of Peregrine and the defeat of Ahriman. The Death of Mirage at the hands of The Traveler. Lucas could feel the memories flooding in as he viewed his own history from an outsiders perspective. Some exhibits brought strong feelings of pride and accomplishment and others were painful to look at. In addition to recreations there were a variety of 'artifacts', gear donated by both Hotwire and Hunter as well as pieces scavenged and sold to the museum which included Peregrine's scorched mask. Lucas remembers she wasn't wearing it when he cradled her body to his, but couldn't recall whether he had taken it off or it had been knocked off during the battle.

Don's advice that Lucas needed to "Remember who he really was' probably wasn't meant this literally, but it was a way to spend a quiet afternoon. The two, unknowingly on the same path, make their way towards the New Age Defenders exhibit.

Much Like the Legacy exhibit the entrance contained statues of the founding members of the team poised for battle against "New Paragon" (Lucas being one of the few people who knew that the 'New' Paragon was merely the old one in a new body).  Painter stood at the forefront, encased in the first version of his 'paint armor', he had one arm extended a sphere of the magical paint that was his namesake in his hand. Directly behind Painter on either side were Excelsior and Erinyes. Erinyes was dressed in a simple black and green bodysuit her electricity dancing around her eyes and fingertips as she had both hands extended to her sides.  Excelsior wore his red and gold suit he was positioned as if he was preparing to take to the skies, one fist in the air while his cape fluttered behind him. Rainbow girl was wearing a rainbow colored unitard positoned as if about to run, some kind of gadget in her hand. Icepick stood in what looked like a ninja outfit in dark blues and blacks, a sword of ice in his hand. Paragon stood menacingly before the heroes, the mask on his blue and gold suit  torn on the left side of his face as he hefted a car to throw at the heroes.

The New Age Defenders were first seen defending the city of Manhattan from the second being using the name Paragon and using similar powers. Paragon suddenly appeared out of nowhere and began attacking at random, he was soon met by Manhattans Defenders Druid and the Leather Avenger (Not pictured) and immediately engaged them, goading them throughout. He quickly overpowered them and was reported to have shouted to have shouted "C'mon, bring me a challenge!" before Druid disappeared. The Leather Avenger tried to hold Paragon back but the differences in their power were obvious.

Druid reappeared moments later alongside the New Age Defenders. Combining their might the team managed to drive Paragon back retreating from the combined assault.

It is worth noting this is the only known incident of Paragon attacking at random and not part of some greater scheme.

Lucas looked at the Defenders exhibit, and had a new sense of what the young heroes faced in their first battle together. He had been told what had happened by Ozzy, but this was the first time that he was able to have a visible representation of that defining moment.

Paragon had always been a pawn in some fashion, whether it be serving Brain or someone else, but this was the first time he had acted randomly, and not part of some intricate plan masterminded by someone else.

Things had changed between student and mentor, but Ozzy always had a good head on his shoulders, and that insight had served him well, even now. So did the rest of the Defenders. Now there were new heroes that were coming out of the woodwork, and Lucas could not help but wonder: would they follow in the steps that the New Age Defenders had blazed before them?

"Amazing how things have changed," Lucas said, seemingly to himself as he continued to contemplate the assembly of the young heroes in battle. "You all have grown in your lives, and you deserve these accolades."

"Sound like you almost know them.  Sorry, just seems like you care about them."

He offers his right hand towards Lucas, the emerald stone seeming to flash just briefly as it catches a bit of light in the movement.  Though the light coming from deep within the stone, not on the surface.

"Name's Greg.  They save your life or stop your store from being robbed."

"A few of them, yes. One of them was a student of mine, who has grown far beyond what I could ask or imagine."

He then turned to the newcomer, returning the offered handshake. Noticing the stone for a brief moment, he dismissed it for the moment.

"My name is Lucas," he said. "And you're right...they can save your life. They can also stop you from making one of the biggest mistakes of your life. Yet they can be as fragile as you or I could ever be."

He put his hands in his pockets, looking back again at the young man. "First time seeing the Museum?" he asked.

He trails off just a little bit at the end there.  For a brief moment he got a far away look in his eyes before snapping back in to that relatively aloof persona.

"Dated a parahuman once.  Ultimately she and I had to part ways though, was a little bit ago.  She could do amazing things but at the end of the day..."

Ozzy had his own section of the exhibit, depicting the different styles his armor took as he grew in power and experience, as well as specialty forms like the defense armor and speed armor. It also contained a depiction of his monster form as well.

"Painter was the leader of the New Age Defenders with Excelsior and Erinyes as sub-leaders. The three remain close friends to this day. From a long line of mages Painter was trained in his abilities as well as combat and tactics from a young age, making him the most experienced of the New Age Defenders and a natural choice for field leader. In non-crisis situations the group was mainly democratic in nature.

Painter is both his codename and the variety of Mage Oswald Gysbourne is. Painter is a sub-class of the Conjuror discipline which focuses on creating magical paint which the Painter can then shape and manipulate.

Now Painter is a member of the Global Guardians and does occasional work for Masks Inc, though he has spent less time working for the Parahuman Mercenaries to focus on his art career. He is married to Clarissa Gysbourne, a reserve member of the Global Guardians."

The smile on his face remains friendly, but there was something to his eyes that darkened just a bit.  The silent weight that those that carry it make sure to wield it themselves.

"Might be wrong, but I sensed a bit of a kindred spirit, too.  Been walking a path to victory by myself for a while now.  With the introspection, inspiration I was looking to find here...  it has been a dark and lonely path.  Sometimes you need to remember where the light is.  Where sparks you have helped spread started."

"I believe I can make room for you, Greg," Lucas said. "Who knows? With what you've shown me in this short time, there may be things that you could teach me. My sensei imparted on me that you can still learn from others, even as you are well advanced."

Lucas' eyes narrowed slightly. This young man seemed to have wisdom beyond his age, and when he mentioned a dark and lonely path, that thought seemed to resonate with him.

"Interesting that you mention about remembering where the light is. I've been in the dark for so long that it's taken me this long to come out of it. If I am even out of it at all. And not by my own hand....I had some good friends who helped me to see that I don't have to go through any of these hardships alone."

Lucas sighed, putting his hands in his pockets and looking all around the museum. "When I look around here, I not only see the displays. I see friends....family....compatriots...sometimes it is best to go back to the beginning. To remind oneself of what brought you to this point. And then pick yourself up and continue on. And that relaxed look returns to his eyes and while his hands do not go in to his own pockets, there is noticeably a relaxing to his stance as well.  His eyes still move around the area but not to the point of looking at the displays, more looking to the people that were there.

"Friends can be excellent for that, still their timing has to be just right.  If they reach out too quickly, they just manage to push you away.  And if they wait too long, you may be beyond their reach."

He frowns a little as he hangs his head, seeming to consider his next words carefully.

"Even Champions bathed in Light can falter, our faith in them can be lost.  It's most difficult then, when our heroes fall from the pedestal we have placed them on.  Maybe the most difficult part for them climbing back up from the fall is from those of us that refuse to see their efforts to restore that faith."

There was a change in his tone, a bit more softness to it, speaking more out loud for himself at that point.

He smiled.

"Ego, I've learned, gets in the way of being able to do the right thing. It can dim our vision, and cause us not to see what's in front of us, or even to hear the well-meaning words of those closest to us."

He nods easily at the explanation, but it was still needed.  There was a lot of respect there for the veteran hero.  The question at the end visibly gave him pause though, his thumb absently rubbing at the ring on his hand.

"It does not sound crazy at all.  Where I did my training, it was not home, but I still protected it.  I needed to protect it.  There was certainly a living entity vibe around it, too.  As for where I called home, it was on the West Coast.  I was visiting my girl friend just a little south east of DC when an alien wiped out where I called home.  It did not make the news here.  People that did read about it, they just thought it was fictional.

I do not blame them for thinking that.  It has been five years, feels strange that Weston is starting to feel like Home."

"Looking at these displays...these plaques....sometimes I wonder if I am truly worthy of the praise that they bestow. Loss is a part of what we do. "You must have had one amazing teacher to help you gain such insight, Greg," Lucas said. "He sounds a lot like the sensei who taught me when I first started practicing the martial arts."

He then began to walk towards the other exhibits. "So...what's next? The Hall of Villains? Or would you like to take a guess as to which member of these teams I am a member of?"

"My Mentor did not teach me that.  My Uncle did."  Clenching his right hand tightly into a fist, there was just a glimpse of that rage brewing under the mask of calm as it cracks just a little before he expels a breath.  Relaxing his hand.  "He killed a lot of people.  Tried to kill a whole lot more.  And I did not just have one teacher."

His voice quiets through that, shifting just a bit.  The smile returns to his lips as he tries to put on that mask again.

"Figure I already took a guess, so the Hall of Villains sounds like a good next stop.  I wonder though, there are many paths that can be taken.  Did they have to be villains.  Some times there are other ways and there is a certain level of escalation that needs to be recognized in the situation.  Some times you do not have the luxury of time to discover the avenue to de-escalate the situation of course."

Lucas nodded, noticing briefly that Greg had tensed up, only for a moment. Explaining about the death of multitudes of people.

"I'm sorry...I didn't mean to dredge up anything unpleasant."

He then gestured towards the Hall of Villains exhibit.

"The villains that we have fought against....and still, in some cases, continue to fight against...each have their own unique reasons for going down the path that they did. Some thought that they could make the world a better place, albeit with themselves at the head of things...others tried to make humanity better through unethical experimentation...others felt that society had disowned them, so they wanted to burn it down."

The last phrase Lucas uttered seemed to resonate with him, bringing back memories of the villain known as Flamethrower. The only person to die by his hand. And that death still haunted him.

"I'm sure that the plaques for the Villains will be very informative."

One of the first exhibits they come across depicts an African man with a shaved head dressed in a military uniform with a long tan coat. The Plaque read:

Rehab

Born Chibundu Okafor in Nigeria, the man who would become Rehab was recruited as a child soldier and spent most of his young life in the military. During one conflict his best friend was shot and his abilities awakened. Rehab possesses the ability to manipulate biology allowing him to heal his allies as well as paralyze and debilitate his foes. After healing his friend Chibundu was found by the leader of his faction and locked up and used to heal injured soldiers.

After three years in captivity Chibundu escaped along with other parahumans who had been enslaved. Okafor escaped to America early on in the parahuman boom, before the parahuman rights act and hate crimes were commonplace. Witnessing slavery in one country and hatred and discrimination in another Chibundu became enraged.

Taking the name Rehab, he founded the New Parahuman Army, a terrorist organization that clashed with both The Legacy and The DPA. Rehab has not been seen in the U.S. in years, focusing his efforts on third world nations, but the NPA has a worldwide network and still maintains a presence in the U.S.

"It is fine.  There does come a point when you need to stop running and face what torments you."

That gets a legitimate smile from him and as Lucas speaks as to their motives he gives a slow nod.  These were all very familiar to him.

As they get to Rehab's exhibit, he takes special care to read over the plaque.  Going so far as to remove his cellphone if the museum allows pictures to take one of Rehab as well as a few 'bullet points' of information shared within.

"This, is a prime example of someone that could have taken a different path.  Who maybe still could.  I am sure he and this group he founded have done countless horrific acts of their own, still."

"This one here is a prime example of a blurred line between villain and hero," Lucas said, lso looking at Rehab's exhibit. "A lot of things that he is fighting for are good causes, however his methods...they tarnish whatever good he wants to do, and that is all that anyone sees at the end of the day."

Setting his cellphone back away he listens to Lucas, slipping his hands in to his pockets.  Idly his thumb brushes against the ring on his right hand.  Lost in thought as he reads the plaque for Rehab again.  Though his eyes were open, it was clear he was miles away from the spot they were in.

For the faintest of moments, if Lucas blinked he would have missed it, the brown of his eyes shift to a pale green color then back to brown.  Closing his eyes, when he opens them, he's back from whatever thoughts that had picked at his brain.  His relatively relaxed stance falters just a bit, betraying that feeling that the weight of the world was on his shoulders.

"Actions taken with the best of intentions can take a heavy, gruesome toll on the world around you.  Fighting injustices, facing a corrupt system; it is a very fine line between savior, vigilante and villain.  Even doing what you feel is right, is sometimes the worse thing you can do.  It doesn't excuse their actions but it helps put them in to context.  Actions that need to be stopped by force or through attempting to reason with them.  Realizing one can be needed to quickly replace the other."

Kevin looks over the display, to the area around them, and then to Lucas.

"Maybe we should go somewhere a bit more private.  As educational as this place can be, it is a bit to exposed."

Lucas looked warily around, now aware of the public venue they were in. What had turned into an introspective trip turned out to be something a lot more educational. Perhaps Kevin would be a great asset in the days to come.

"We could go to the dojo if you would like. I know that my partner Grace is finishing up the last class right about now, and will be locking up soon."

"It'll be nice to see the area."

He had to internally smile, going to the Dojo secretly ran by the premiere Martial Artist hero of this world, it felt right.
