Re: Mirage's Place

Kisses?

Mirage frowned at the box again.  Shaking her head, she bent down to pick up the box and open it.

Re: Mirage's Place

Mirage froze, her eyes going wide at the sight of the boxs contents.

Human lips?!?!  What the hell?!?!?

The whole thing was gross and cruel and it made Mirages stomach want to empty itself.  She quickly closed the box and dropped it back on the floor.

Oh god.  Who had sent her human lips?  Even worse, whose lips were they?

Shaking a little, Mirage went back into her condo and called the police.

"No I don't." Helena replied.  "I can't think of anyone who would send me such a thing."

It was true.  Mirage really had no idea who would send a pair of severed human lips.  She only prayed that the lips didn't belong to someone that she knew.

"Thank you.  I hope that you can solve this for me.  I'm very worried and someone must have been hurt to have their lips taken off of them in such a brutal fashion." Helena said.

Re: Mirage's Place

A beautifully crafted calligraphed note on the window.

To the Lady Who is My Heart's Desire,
You hide behind crimson veils of mystery
Yet I know who you are,
  Your body you unveil,
  And your heart is far.
  I offer you my Heart,
  To complete your life
  Your life, once torn apart,
  Completed as my wife . . .

  Your Most Ardent Lover

Re: Mirage's Place

Helena read the note for the fourth time.  Her hand trembled.  Long had she kept her private life secret, even from her closest friends in the Legacy.  She had erected this barrier of secrecy to protect her loved ones and now this barrier had been torn asunder with a simple collection of letters on a scrap of paper.

She was being stalked.

Mirage was the hunter, not the prey.  This situation was becoming intolerable not to mention frustrating and, thought she wouldn't admit it to anyone, a little frightening.

"Where are you?  Show yourself to me." she said, her voice a soft menace.  She'd need another day until she had fully recovered.

Helena stared into the mirror and reached out to touch it.  It felt like solid glass.  She was sure that she had seen a man in it.  Was that Traveller or someone else?  Who was this man that was stalking her?

Re: Mirage's Place

Before the image had too much time to fade from her memory, Helena used her illusion powers to re-create the man that she had seen in the mirror.  She put as much detail into the image as she could until she thought that she had a reasonable facsimile.

Helena retrieved her camera and started to take some pictures of the man that she had fashioned.  Maybe Zeek could run this through some computer and try to come up with an identity.

Life torn apart, completed as my wife. The words echoed in her mind.

Re: Mirage's Place

>>> After Time change and from Van Diemen home <<<

Mirage reappeared in her condo in a swirl of crimson smoke.  She smiled as she removed her long coat and hung it up in the closet.  Passing a mirror, Mirage took a moment to admire her reflection and the dress she wore.  The party had been very wonderful, spending time with the Diantha, being present for the proposal and of course seeing Lucas again.  All three had a romantic effect on her that would seem very out of character to anyone who knew her.

Mirage removed her heels and walked into the living room and her mood quickly changed.  On the table was a small box.  Mirages eyes narrowed as she looked at the box.  It must have been from him again, that man that had been the source of the pain in her life.

In a fluid moment, Mirage scooped up the small box and stepped out onto her balcony.  She examined the box for a moment, debating whether to throw it over the side of the building or not but curiousity got the better of her and she opened it.

Re: Mirage's Place

Within the box she first found a folded note.  It said My dearest Helena, you have to realize that the loser you have been spending your time with has absolutely no future.  He could never love you like I do.  He could never give you his complete heart like I do.  He will never stop pining for his poor, lost Peregrine.  Give him up, and accept that I am the man that you were destined to be with, that you were destined to belong to.  Inside the box was a woman's finger, wearing a very beautiful diamond engagement ring, and a hand lettered tag "I love you, Marry Me."

Re: Mirage's Place

Helenas breath caught in her chest and she dropped the box onto the balcony in disgust.  The freak had sent her a womans finger, an actual finger.  It was sick.  Now Mirages mood had truly been soured.  She wished that this man was in front of her so she could kick five shades of hell out of him.

She stood back from the horrific gift for a long while, staring at it with her fists clenched.  Then she strode forward and scooped it back up.  This stalker was not going to get her all weak.  She would find this guy and end him, and that meant that she would need help.

She'd take the finger to the Weston PD.  Either Captain Jordan or Nokomis would be able to help her track down who this victim was and maybe that would give her a clue to her prey.

Re: Mirage's Place

>>> From NPA HQ

Mirage reappeared in her penthouse.  She walked over to her bed, her costume melting away into thin wisps of smoke, and she fell onto the bed.  All of this recent activity, all this running around as Mirage was exhausting.  She used to spend only a few hours a night as her costumed alter ego but now it seemed like she was spending the better part of the day as the Femme Fatale and that was beginning to tax her body.

She rolled over onto her back, wincing with the sharp stab of pain in her lower back.  That wasn't the worst part.  Mirage could stand the pain, in a sense she welcomed it.  It meant that she felt something.  The worst part was that creeping numbness that took over the lower half of her body as she relaxed her para abilities.  She lifted her head up to stare at her now useless legs and sighed before falling back onto the pillow.

With Hunter consumed with family and planning his marriage, and Lucas no doubt prowling around for a tux, that left her with a few hours before they were to meet at McHaggis'.  A few hours to rest up.

Re: Mirage's Place

A box, wrapped in silver paper with a metallic golden ribbon, lay on the table, with a pale lavender envelope beside it.

Within the envelope, was a note that said simply A love like mine will never die, and I shall always carry this passion for you.  No matter how many times you run away, I will find you because I love you."

Re: Mirage's Place

Mirage scowled down at the little box, the note crumpling up in her hand.  Her mood had quickly soured when she'd awoken to find yet another 'gift' from her enemy in her place.  The box no doubt contained yet another body part from some poor girl and that thought brought a terrible mood upon her.

Mirage had thought that she'd ended this man.  She had his throat between her fingers, his blood on her knuckles.  The man was dead.  She had seen to that.  She'd reveled in the feel of his life dripping out of him drop by bloody drop.  How could he still be alive?  Could he regenerate like she could?

Or she might have killed the wrong man.  She might have killed an innocent man.  Her mood flipped around again, sinking with a very heavy weight as she realized what she had done.  Had she killed an innocent man?  The thought was terrifying.  Mirage had always tried not to kill, despite how badly she wanted to end some of those villains out there.  It was a line that she refused to cross, one that defined a difference between her and them.

Only, she had crossed that line.  It had been worth it to stop this psycho, except she hadn't stopped him.  She couldn't have killed an innocent.  It had to be a trick.  It had to.  The man was playing with her mind, but somehow she just couldn't drive away the idea that she'd killed someone who hadn't deserved to lose their life.

What did this mean for her now?
