Nokomis offered him a sketch pad and pencil, and said "I would appreciate it if you could sketch the person, please."

Re: Weston P.D.

Matt is now the proud temporary owner of pencil and paper.  "Thanks."   He gets to work, and a minute later hands over a detailed drawing of a little old lady with a scowl.  "I guess it's a bit redundant to mention the jaywalking."   No arson though.

Re: Weston P.D.

Nokomis took the sketch, inspecting it with a great deal of interest.  She said "I'll have to review with the officers who handled the initial incident, and see if I can locate this person.  Any other information you have on this matter?"

"Well, after she shoved me from behind screaming at me and before she ran off with my wallet, she did call the ambulance.  Never saw her before that night, and I haven't seen her since.  Been trying not to think about that night admittedly."

Re: Weston P.D.

Mittens has pulled up a seat and before long is reading a very old looking book who's title has long since faded.  "Wow you're quite the artist, Matt.  Handy!"

To the officer she adds, "I appreciate that you have treated us with equity despite our unusual appearance.  Speaking of which there are some quirks about this case.  One, due to his postmortem transformation, Matt here no longer has fingerprints.  Two, he's probably still officially dead since he wasn't revived in the emergency room.  Also his body was supposed to be cremated to save on burial plot size, so I'm wondering who's ashes are buried in Matt's grave.  I supposed it's possible he rose from his ashes like somekinda phoenix, but I find it more likely there's something illegal going on at the crematorium."

Re: Weston P.D.

Nokomis had snagged a couple forms, and she answered Mittens and Matt both as she began to fill the information out.  "One, parahumans are citizens just like everyone else.  They deserve just as much protection by the law and it's officers who enforce that law as the normal humans do. Two, murder is murder, even if the victim doesn't stay dead.  Three, and here's one you may appreciate, I don't particularly CARE what someone LOOKS like, as long as they are obeying the law.  I also don't care what they look like, if someone BREAKS the law, they still need arrested and judged in a court of law.  If they're someone's ninety year old grandma, that's still their choice to break the law, and they know that breaking the law means they are due to be taken to court and judged."

Maverick has watery eyes and a smile on his face. He says nothing as what has been said pretty much is what he's been waiting for Matt to hear.

Re: Weston P.D.

"It's mostly been the 'I'm dead, Dad's sold the house, now what' that's been why I've been lurking around than my looks.  Though I've got a place to stay these days at least."  Doesn't make it any less encouraging to hear from Nokomis though.

"If anything, just feels awkward pressing charges on a cranky old lady.  I guess actually being able do after the fact takes the edge off."

Re: Weston P.D.

Nokomis looked up at Matt, pausing in her paperwork, and said gently "Mister Mattews, you got up and walked away.  Who is to say you were the first one this was done to?  How many OTHER people didn't get up and walk away?  And who would give them and you justice if we just 'forgot about it'?  Because a person died, and didn't stay that way doesn't make murdering them any LESS of a crime.  I will not say that any crime should be ignored, because I swore an oath, and that oath means a lot to me."

Mittens is very impressed with Kellington Hero Speech and her smile shows it.  "You sound just like Maverick's dad!  Couldn'ta said it better myself.  I sure hope Matt's right, though.  That the cranky old lady was just confused and suffering from Dementia rather than a venomous, demon-spawn villain who spitefully murders heroes who just saved their her life.  But ya never know.  And I totally agree that it's worth it to find out."

Re: Weston P.D.

Matt nods,  "I'd be lying if I said you didn't make complete sense there.  Worrying about others is a lot easier than worrying about myself, so I should keep that in mind here."

He turns back to Mittens, "I think she thought I was trying to mug her, but she didn't seem very upset after what happened.  As for the grave, I'll assume it was me until shown otherwise.  I came out of it and there wasn't anything else in there with me.  Well, except the cheap bargain bin urn." Not like he kept the thing.  That would just be creepy, and he's not the Undertaker... Though he could probably do a mean Tombstone Piledriver.

Ozzy landed just outside the Police Department, stooping over and poking his head in to look around, and see if he could see a directory or something. If nothing else, he could always ask the girl at the front desk.

Ozzy could see from the directory that Esteban's office was on the 2nd floor, but it was unknown whether he was actually there or out on a case.

"Detective Martinez...friends of your brother are coming to see you. OK..I'll sent them up."

She hung up the phone. "He's waiting for you upstairs."

Re: Weston P.D.

Ozzy and Clarissa were able to make their way upstairs (though a little ducking didn't hurt). Soon they found a desk with the name label of Det. Martinez, and a young Hispanic man sitting at the desk, who looked up at them.

"Hello there. I heard you were looking for me?"

In reply to Matt Matthews (msg # 485):

Maverick says, "I wish I had more to offer, but I think at this point, it would be all up to Matt. Although the fact the lady called an ambulance should mean you could figure out what her phone number is..." He looks up at Matt. "Do you remember if you told her "Watch out" before going to shove her?"

Re: Weston P.D.

The PD was happy enough to lock the dragon in the para-proofed cell for Ozzy, although he got a couple worried looks, but he wasn't quite as well known in his mutant form as he was in his Painter armor.  His registration had been updated, but that wasn't something publicly accessible either.

Re: Weston P.D.

Ozzy did his best to reassure everyone, making sure to tell them who he was and what had happened. He'd even change back for them if they wanted. After all, the dragon really wasn't a criminal. They'd gotten, essentially, drugged and forced into doing stuff outside of their control. This wasn't a choice for them.

Clarissa came padding in, jarred mouse in hand, and snagged his tail playfully with a hop, grinning at the cops who were blinking at her as she held up the mouse and said "Delivery!!  Heya Ozzy, toldja I'd meet you here.  Class got cancelled, so you get to give me more driving lessons instead."
