He sighed, and stepped in as he finished wrapping the towel around him, then said "I was hoping she'd feel safe at Ozzy's.  She having screaming nightmares again?"  Clearly unhappy that she was still not comfortable without him.

"Not sure, but it sounds like the nightmares keep going on. She needs you man...and you need her...you both know it."

Jeff sighed for a moment. "Look Jack...life is way too short. Dragon Fist, Hunter and Mirage are out on the streets doing what they can to get evidence in your case. Not to mention going after the asshole who did what he did to you both. So...you've got some time. Use it to tell Seer how you feel, man. It doesn't take a telepath to figure out that you guys have something special together between the both of ya.."

  He looked away, and said softly "I don't .  . . after that . . .what they did to her . . .I  . . she couldn't . . . .it's just not possible."

Jeff sighed for a moment.

"Look Jack...I'm sorry as all hell for what happened to her. I've got a younger sister myself...if anything like that happened to her...or to Candy...I...I'm terrified at what I would do to avenge 'em. There's a difference between what they did to her, and how you feel about her. You LOVE her...genuinely...can't get much better than that. And deep down...I think she knows it.."

  He looked at Jeff, and the pain, and naked longing in his eyes was clear.  He said softly "I can't ask her.  I don't want to make her think . . .I promised to protect her.  Even from me.  She doesn't know who she was, or what happened before she woke up with me in the cell beside her."  A tear escaped.  "I still remember who I am.  And my family.  They took even that much from her.  Or she did it.  I don't know.  But she's got nothing, nobody, and I can't . . . I can't ever ask that of her.  It's too much.  Not after the Builder . . and his goons . . . and she's not . . . she fought . . . and. . . "

Jeff could indeed see the pain in his eyes.

"Look....this isn't gonna happen overnight. This will take time. But it's time that is worth it. And deep down, she knows that you care for her immensely. You guys need each other, especially now more than ever. We believe in you guys...now it's time you started believing in yourselves.."

Jeff wasn't sure where this strength came from. Inspirational speeches like this were much better coming from someone in the Legacy, like Dragon Fist or Hunter. But neither of them weren't around. But Jeff was...hopefully that was all that they needed.

  He had looked down, listening, and he looked up and asked him "Can you be sure I won't hurt her more?  She's an empath.  A telepath.  She can read my mind, Jeff."

"If she can read your mind, then would she have anything to worry about. In fact, she would know that you would not hurt her. Sounds like you're pleading your own case, pal."

  Candy said softly "I think I see the problem.  He knows more than we do, but NONE of us know what she doesn't remember.  And he's afraid to find out the hard way."

"And he doesn't want to risk further trauma...I don't blame ya Jack. There's got to be something we can do...some way that you can tell her that you won't hurt her.."

  He nodded.  "I don't want her to ever think of me like one of THEM.  She's been hurt  . . . so much.  I don't know . . if she CAN accept . . . a husband.  A lover.  Or if they've hurt her so bad . . that she can never."

"The love is there, man....Darren could see it...hell, we ALL could see it."

  He looked down, blushing, and said "But will she see the difference?  I don't want to hurt her.  I don't just want her body, I want to be . . . everything to her."

Jeff smiled.

"Maybe she's waiting for you to tell her that."

  He admitted "I'm scared to tell her.  I'm terrified she'll take it wrong.  She's all I have left now too.  And I have to keep her safe.  I swore I would."

"No risk ventured...nothing gained.." Jeff said simply. "You guys can dance around it for the rest of your lives...or you can take that risk, and get something out of it that will be extraordinary. No one else can do that but you two."

  He sighed, and said "If she needs me, you know I won't deny her.  I just don't want her to see the police drag me away."

"Dude..let DF, M, and Hunter deal with the evidence part of that. We can help keep you on the down low until they get the evidence."

  He said "Will the police give us enough time?"

"If I remember right, Hunter and DF talked to Captain Jordan, so you should be good.."

  He nodded, and said "Can your ladyfriend here get us all back to the Gysbourne place?"

Jeff smiled at Candy.

"Why yes..yes she can.."

  Candy held her hand out to both of them, a clear invitation to take her hands.

Jeff smiled as he took Candy's hand.

  Jack grabbed his clothes, and then took her hand, still holding his towel with the other one.
