Re: OOC

Surely, the king is putting some resources at our disposal to help ensure that our mission is successful?  I'm saying that if the king is prepared to assign a cleric to accompany us, just supplying some healing potions would be even better, in my view.

Re: OOC

I'm just giving you the facts. What the king can or cannot provide will be brought up IC.

Does anyone else have any opinions?

Re: OOC

Hey, man!  Welcome to the party.

An NPC cleric works for me, but I'm fine with some portable healing potions as well.

Re: OOC

I haven't heard anything from the wizard for over a week now. Do you want to wait a little longer or should we move forward and see if she catches up with us?

I'd like to get a move on.  She could catch up later, I suppose.

Re: OOC

I haven't heard from the fourth player, the wizard, for almost two weeks now. I can bump the wanted thread again tonight and mention that we in particular are looking for a wizard/sorcerer or a cleric.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Re: OOC

Well, you mentioned an NPC, and that would be useful, perhaps a Mage with healing spells.  But yeah, try the Players Wanted forum first.  Perhaps we can go ahead and start, and the king can send additional forces to aid us if you get more players.

We don't have to have a mage, but they come in handy.  =)

Re: OOC

In Dragonlance wizards cannot cast healing spells. That is the purview of clerics. And I do have a NPC cleric in my back pocket.

I also have a NPC sorcerer in my back pocket, but she was created before Handar joined the game and steps on his toes a little too much.

I was waiting for a response from the King regarding extra people before posting.

Re: OOC

As I posted a week ago (has it been that long already), I've been looking for new players and that will soon come to fruition. I didn’t want the king to speak before I knew what he was going to say. The game is definitely moving forward, but I want to know who is filling the ranks before the king starts speaking about it.

Re: OOC

Ok.  It looks like all of us are still in, which is a good thing.  Do you have something else we can do while we're waiting on other players?  I'll be here, regardless.

Re: OOC

If there is anything else you want to ask the king or talk to him about, we can shuffle things around in the conversation.

Is there something you would like to do while we wait? A solo introductory thread for your character? Some adventure your character has gone through in the past? Something else?

Re: OOC

Well, we could go seek out a contact to learn more about where we are going, what dangers we might face, and what supplies we should bring.

Re: OOC

Leaving the king would mean you already have the answer we're waiting for.

But you could ask the king that very question, perhaps he knows what you'll need. He's been there after all.

Re: OOC

Or tell the king we'll meet the other members later and go shopping.  Is there anyone from the previous expedition other than the king who is currently in the city?  We could go talk to that person.

Handar asked what else we needed to know, and the king said nothing, so I assumed he didn't want to tell us.

That would be good.

It just feels awkward for these characters to be talking directly to the king.  Nana is foreign, of low status, and somewhat humble--the in-character thing to do feels like to speak when spoken to.

Re: OOC

IIRC the king said nothing he could think of, so a more direct question might get a more detailed reply. Neither the king, nor I, think of everything.

The only other member of the previous expedition the king has mentioned was a wizard. As far as I could see, he has not given you the identity of that wizard. So both the expedition and the wizard are things you can ask about too.

Re: OOC

We could of course fudge an answer so that it could be "any" character and move on from there too. If that is what you want.

Re: OOC

Honestly, I would like to just have a run-down from the king or someone else saying:  "Here is where you will go, this is what you need to do, we know so-and-so about this location and here are some (but by no means all) of the challenges you can expect to face; talk to Elfylon the Elf in Elftown if you need supplies, now go forth, brave heroes!" ... and then get on to adventuring...

And if we have questions later, we can just hand-wave it as: "You remember the king said something about so-and-so," or if not, "Unfortunately, the king had no answers to that question."

Would that be OK?
