"Well, nothing for it but to retrace our steps, eh?" Olven asks, looking around.  "Let's head back the way we came and check any doors we haven't tried yet."

Re: The Lyceum (main)

The heroes returned to the library and the so far unopened secret door. They noted that the soldiers they had left tied up in the library no longer were there. Though the dead body was.

[I've updated http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2011-2/1364172/. The left most image is the latest map of the library and the right most image is the overview map posted in Game Map previously. Game Map is also updated.

As drawn right now, Olven is in the same hex as the secret door, and you are facing random directions. You may want to change this before you open the secret door.]

Re: The Lyceum (main)

The heroes opened the secret door and entered a short corridor with a door on the right hand side at the end of it.

[OOC Game Map updated. Please let me know how you want to arrange yourself around the door or if you just open and enter.]

D'aden pulls out his bow and moves to the rear, again. Perhaps it isn't the most efficient method, but has been chosen because he sees this as the way in which he best assists the others.

Olven decides to take the lead this time.  "Owain, back me up," he says quietly to the knight, and then opens the door and looks inside the room.  He has his spear and shield ready for action.

Re: The Lyceum (main)

Olven opened the door. Someone in a black robe was hunched over a large table in the center of the room. It was covered by beakers and tubes and noxious liquids bubbled slowly.

An unmoving form gleaming like silver and polished wood stood in a shadowed corner.

"OK, buddy, keep your hands where we can see 'em.  Any hand waving or mumbled incantations, and we're taking you out," Olven Wolf warns, advancing into the room, his axe at the ready.

OOC:  Move to 1628.  Evaluate the wizard.

If the guy doesn't attack immediately-

"Greetings," he says. "As my companion has said, we are quite paranoid about being attacked. However, we are not here to anihilate everyone. I am Owain uth Urien, and you are...?"

Re: The Lyceum (main)

The wizard looked at the two warriors and they saw his brown hair and eyes as well as his forked beard and his contemptuous smile. And with a quick spoken word of magic, the room and the corridor fell into darkness.

[OOC: Olven, when you Evaluate you can only take a Step. Do you want to complete the Move to 1628 or do you want to take a Step and Evaluate?

The room and the corridor is now in total darkness, Night Vision and similar effects are useless.]

"Watch out," he says, charging into the room and doing a slam attack against the table. That should upset the mage, if not actually hit him so Owain can find out where he is...

D'aden releases the tension on his bow and grasps the bow and arrow in his left hand as he reaches out with his right and attempts to sidestep to the wall, slowly and carefully. He listens intently in an attempt to decipher what is happening ahead of him.

Re: The Lyceum (main)

When the lights go out, Olven is surprised, even more so since his small ability to see in the dark doesn't seem to help.  Vile magic, he thinks, and wonders what other tricks the wizard has up his sleeves.  "Guard the door!  Don't let anyone escape!  I'll go around the table to the left!"  He inches forward, moving as quietly as he can, feeling for something, anything.

OOC:  OK, with the Evaluate, just one step for the previous turn to 1730.

For this turn, move another step forward to 1629, listening for the sounds of anything moving.

Re: The Lyceum (main)

Owain rushed into the dark room and toppled the table, causing beakers to crash and break on the floor and everything else making thumping noises of various loudness.

D’aden stepped into a corner, his bow no longer at the ready.

Olven called out instructions to the others and moved ahead.

With an unseen movement, Tarhall cast a spell.

Jarl moved unseen and unhindered through the darkness.

Sarah remained where she was

With another few words from the evil wizard, all sound vanished from the room and the corridor.

Re: The Lyceum (main)

Owain swings about with his sword, trying to get the general are of behind the table, but staying clear of the left side. He's more interesting in locating the mage than actually doing damage, body slam, arm outstretched touching him, all of this should work to find someone, and if he does it quickly enough, it should only be the one guy in front of him. The one guy who also knows not to go to the left (the bad guy's right) of the table.

Owain swung his sword in an exploratory manner, but it didn't connect with anyone or anything.

Tarhall stepped closer to the door and cast a spell.

Keeping his shield high, he proceeded to try and find someone, somewhere, not negleting the old 'duck under' trick.

"Come out come out, and we won't hurt you unless you hurt us..."

He thinks to himself, Mage did it for sound, too... well at least he'll trouble casting spells. I hope.

Re: The Lyceum (main)

Not liking his odds of stumbling into a teammate in the dark, but determined to find this pesky mage, Olven advances carefully.  Odd that he can't hear anything.  The mercenary is hardly versed in the arcane arts, but he hopes his teammates understand better what's happening.

OOC:  Advance, axe at the ready.  Step carefully, feeling for anyone in the room.

Re: The Lyceum (main)

D'aden moved forward in the darkness until the staff encountered something. That something was soft enough not to be a wall.

As Owain walked around, his sword came in contact with a hard surface.

As Olven walked around, he bumped into someone.

Tarhall cast a spell.

Jarl brought the torch with him and lit the same thing Olven bumped into, something that was right behind Owain.

The statue Owain had found started moving its arms

The recently lit something moved in place between Owain and Olven before hurridly moving towards the toppled table and the door beyond it.

Olven lashes out with his axe.  He can't hear, and he can't see, but he can still feel, maybe smell, perhaps taste someone.  He wonders how evil wizards taste.  Licorice, maybe, with a hint of wormwood.  Or maybe chocolate syrup.

OOC:  I attack the darkness!
