Olven nods his head.  "By all means, Roisin, if you think your magic can help us here, go ahead and try.  But remember, we still need to locate the girl.  Time is of the essence."

D'aden nods, watching closely. "Whatever happens, we might learn something from the experience. That's why this place was built, after all."

Certainly Mistress Roisin. Grettanah replies encouragingly. Watching as two of the others reached for a gem at the same time as Roisin.

D'aden nods, and strides over to the black gem. "You know it can't be any worse than a drac blade, and that other spectre already gave me a robe this color. Whenever you're ready, count it down and I'll give it a go."

Re: The Lyceum III (main)

Once the gems had returned to their original locations, the heroes reached in for them. And this time, all three of them were caught! And when they were removed from the sphere of light that surrounded them, the corresponding doors swung open.

Roisin sighed "Sometimes I begin to wonder at the idiocy of the people who built this place" she placed the gem into a bag "Keep the gems handy. They might well be needed later on."

D'aden looks at the black gem, shrugs, and stows it in his pack. "Ok, back to watching out for dracs. If we see any from here on out we should assume they passed the same tests. I don't like the idea of that."

Roisin nodded "On the other hand, it should hold some mercenary appeal. They should each be carrying gemstones..." she petted Ochre, letting him know it was time for him to earn his keep, as he dropped from her shoulder onto the ground, his nostrils flaring as he searched the surroundings using his sense of smell.

Re: The Lyceum III (main)

The heroes started looking into the rooms behind the three newly opened doors. There was very clearly a common theme that unified the rooms. Each was rectangular and less than twice as long than it was wide.

The walls of the first room was covered in dark frescoes, Black robed wizards commanding the stars into order above an ignored Krynn.

The frescoes in the middle room depicted brilliant sunsets composed of thousands of Red robed wizards.

And in the rightmost room, the frescoes showed a paradise of silver trees and tranquil rest. But the whiteness was marred sharply by great red stains that streaked the far wall.

An altar stood on a raised platform close to the far wall in each room. The altars were identical. But in the last room, there were four draconians, their claws raw from scratching the back wall. As the heroes approached, they turned their red fevered eyes upon them and screamed!

Spotting the draconians Grettanah readied her broadsword and shield for the fight as she moved beside Barrack assuming the roll of shield guard; and to provide him what assistance she could.

Re: The Lyceum III (main)

Olven grips his spear in both hands and readies for the dracs' charge.  "I think they're trapped," he says.  "Be careful."  He regrets not having his shield readied, but the group has already bested plenty of draconians already.  These four should be no different.

OOC:  Spear is in a two-handed grip, Reach 1.  Wait for a drac to get in range, and then Attack.

D'aden held his staff calmly, looked at the dracs, and said, "If they could make it to the door, why would they be ravaging the far wall? They could be trapped in that room just as the griffin was trapped in that courtyard."
Stepping to the door, he calls through it. "Are you having trouble getting out?"

"I would imagine they want whatever is behind it....or whatever they think is behind it...or perhaps they just knew they could not return this way. in any case, we should find out soon enough." Roisin stood back from the others, preparing a spell, motioning for Utrecht to move forward.

OOC:Start concentrating for a fireball.
Do we know what kind of draconians these are?

Re: The Lyceum III (main)

As the draconians rushed the heroes, Olven's spear  brought one of them to the ground as soon as they came close enough, where it landed as stone. Another two tried to return the favor, but Olven stepped away from them while avoiding their axes. The final draconian axed Grettanah and she failed to do the same, fortunately her armor protected her.

Grettanah attacked the draconian facing her, but it avoided her sword. Roisin continued focusing on her magic. And D'aden was distracted insulting the draconians.

One of the draconians pursued Olven, but the warrior continued to avoid the axe. And Grettanah was able to defend herself against the other two with shield and deft movements.

"Ha!  Die, dogs!"  Olven Wolf's spear flashes forward, piercing his drac, and the creature falls to the ground as stone.  Anther draconian pursues Wolf, but he pivots to face his foe.  Once more, he jabs his spear forward.

Olven sliced another draconian to the ground. Grettanah and her dwarven defender brought a third draconian to the ground. And D'aden attacked a third, but not only did it remain standing, it attacked him too, but D'aden defended himself.

Olven Wolf turns to face the last draconian. "They're all strong, silent types," he says, grunting, as he lashes out yet again with his spear.  Not that Olven minds.  It's harder to kill something that's begging for its life.

OOC:  Attack!
