Re: Bored and stuck at a computer with nothing to do..

She's gotten a lot better.  Her natural personality is kind of like that anyway (glitter and ponies and unicorns and sparkles), but when you teach her how to play a little better, it usually sticks.

Most of the silly stuff only really hurts her.  To be fair, that Dark Heresy campaign is sort of weird, everyone is playing two different characters except for me and I'm stuck with some not very experienced people who are all combat monkeys.

Re: Bored and stuck at a computer with nothing to do..

Sorry for the delays in my posting today... my wife and I were driving to a cabin in the Blue Ridge mountain area of North Georgia for a Thanksgiving away.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! May your characters not have their souls siphoned from their bodies to fuel dark magics!

Iron Dynasty... cheap!

Hey everyone, I know there was some Iron Dynasty discussion here.  I just bought the book's pdf for $7.50!  Apparently it's on sale, no idea for how long!

I've only read in about 30 pages or so but this is awesome, well it's awesome if it's to your tastes.  I've paid a lot more for much less entertaining things to read.

Re: Iron Dynasty... cheap!

Might check it out, but I'm pretty strapped for cash until next Friday and I also try to avoid spending money on anything on Black Friday (unless it's food, that's an exception) but I've wanted to look into it.

What?

Assume the foreigner continues to look entirely bewildered at the relationship between the mysterious Thing With Turkeys and bloody early 20th-c workers' rebellions... (Also, what is this pie? It looks like a gigantic flan there)

Is Wildcat going to talk snake handling with CB 'tall?

Alouette: No worries I don't get Boxing day, Guy Fawkes Day, Worker's Day or many other random holidays from other parts of the world either.

Re: Fate Chips

[claps hands in glee] I like the idea of Bonfire Night being Guy Fawkes' Day...anually blowing up Parliament and/or the reigning monarch (rather than burning the last man to try in effigy) would make for a wonderfully dynamic political system. Also, fire always makes things better.

I'm surprised Boxing Day doesn't exist over there, though, there must have been at least as many servants in the US as UK at some point given their relative sizes...

Re: Fate Chips

Just a little bit. ;D

But then, Tarantino is such a Spaghetti Western fanboy that making homages to him in a western game just works.

Alouette:

I believe the pie pictured is a pumpkin pie.  The comparison to flan is not entirely unfounded, the taste is certainly different but the consistency can be similar, depending on whose flan and whose pie you're comparing.

On another note, this code breaking business is hard.  Oh and I'm sort of back, I've been busy being a shopping assistant for two days.

Somebody's getting an Ipod... sweet.

Re: What?

In reply to Wildcat Hawkins (msg #47):

Yeah, this is why Rangers don't make great spies...they normally hate all this codeswapping crap, and the only reason they have to go through it at all is because Wildcat doesn't have her own current Bible copy, so Armstrong is scrambling to find a different encoding method.

Re: What?

In reply to The Stray (msg #48):

This is very true, Spy has been one of the classic Deadlands archetypes since forever for that reason.

Rangers aren't very MiB.

Really to me it's like the game developers sat around one day...

"You know the sheriff, or similar characters, is so important in westerns every posse should have one."

"Yeah but how do we do that, I mean actually being a sheriff presents all sorts of problems, a sheriff just can't go out and do crazy dime novel adventures."

"Oooh, we need to make up a sheriff who just goes everywhere."

"Yeah, and... they hunt all the monsters we made up!  But... they have to keep it a secret that's their job!"

"That's brilliant...  Now what real life historical phenomenon can we tie it to?"
