Howdy! Mind the birdies, help yourself to a toasting fork and feel free to make use of our nice flaming Lurch, things are only going to get stranger.

Normal is indeed relative around here.  I felt like Wildcat and Charging Bear were the last brother and sister of normalcy, and now Wildcat's lost to The Strange.

Aw, they can still be Terrible Luck siblings! At least Carl isn't going to learn how to trap his enemies in invisible boxes any time soon? Then you should probably be afraid.

Nature facts!

1. Many species of bird will attempt to hatch out or care for anything found in their nest (including golf balls, chicks of other species etc.) if their own young is removed or destroyed. Taking advantage of these extremely strong base instincts is how cuckoos propagate.

2. The bigger and more badass a bird of prey, the more likely it is to be female.

...ironically, the wee thunderbird was/is trying to help, in its own overkilling way, but now the Hawk is distracted from bringing down the source of the trouble because the kid is scarier than watching it attack thin air...

Hindrances Get Interesting

It's going to be fun should Wildcat meet up with someone else who actually is in her Bible.

Hey considering recent developments, that's a double entendre now!

Indeed. Seven isn't going to be happy to see the law coming to his tiny, corrupt little hide-a-way, and might leap to some assumptions. Another enemy for Wildcat! (like she needeed anymore)

Re: Hindrances Get Interesting

Evans is so terrible at dealing with Carl I feel sorry for him. I wonder if he'll catch that being allowed to potentially make the loaded weapon work is a trust offering, or whether he'll just give up and storm off... Carl, by this point, is somewhat annoyed by Evans' insistent attempts to touch him and mildly weirded out.

Oh, hey, will Seven (for some reason I keep trying to type Se7en) be looking for Nate when he hits town?

Happy Thanksgiving US-players. ;-)

I think it's great how the only real way you've got to find out who you're sharing a game with is by these holiday-announcements that are copied and pasted to every game... :-)

Re: FYI

Well that's just silly.  XD

<facetious on.  Bear in mind Carl doesn't have the context of what else has happened but if you ignore that consideration some hilarious implications result>

Incidentally I love the way Carl's mind, and the minds of the Blackthorn residents, works.

The black sorceror of a Mayor conjures up a crowd to attack her against their will (let's face it even people who don't like Wildcat wouldn't actually attack her without his manipulation), but that black magic is okay, no one goes after the Mayor for being a witch.  XD

And then Carl immediately jumps to the conclusion these circumstances are that's her fault, and then a Yankee flies into the air and throws lightning bolts, most likely killing several residents of his precious town at this point, and only Jake Lawrence and the Damned Ranger have managed a counter attack (not that anyone else is unwilling to, it just worked out that way).  But he's got to stop her!  That lightning fueled rampage must go on!

But apparently Jake Lawrence's particular brand of arcane dealings, attempts to stop a murderous rampage and all, are not acceptable, but throwing freaking lightning bolts at bystanders or mind controlling mobs to kill people is.  XD

It's also a bit amusing, and I realize this is just the often ignored power of Trappings, Wildcat throws off the single most visible arcane power shy of the lightning bolts, twice, and no one thinks much of it other than Wildcat whose mind is going What did I just do!?

I can see it now, Wildcat is going to be within inches of shoulder tackling Danny Boy when Carl shoots her in the back or something.  XD

<facetious off>

Complicated town social mores are complicated.

Re: FYI

In reply to Wildcat Hawkins (msg #50):

The Black Magic the mayor used makes them susceptible to groupthink and mob mentality. It didn't have any flashy special effects aside from making the crowd speak in unison. It might be obvious to observers that they were manipulated, but not to the people themselves. Once the mental whammy was on them, cognitive dissonance convinced them that they really did want to do what the mayor told them to do. This is probably not the case for Alouette, who was hunting after the mayor to harm him...the cognitive dissonance would be too great.

Also, while they might remember the arcane powers used by Wildcat and Danny boy, they were mind controlled and unable to react. Now that they're free of the control, they're free to act however the please, keeping in mind many of them still are acting on the last order they received because they're convinced its what they really want to do. The ones who Wildcat yelled at, though, are the ones who are questioning the wisdom of attacking her, and the gunplay has clenched their decision to run away.

Danny, meanwhile, is still floating two yards above everyone and has been shooting scary lightning from his face. he's terrifying for your average unarmed townsfolk, and they've now missed him twice in a row with thrown rocks. The people are angry at all the "witches" but Jake is the only one they can reach right now. They're taking their anger and fear out on him because he's an easier target than Danny at the moment.

Never underestimate the capacity for large groups of people to do stupid things.
