Re: Of Your  Mom

In reply to Adrian Vega (msg # 938):

He's a serious threat now!

Just making a special note here that y'all aren't compelled to engage it at once/without the time to go into the library and strategise/take a coffee break/wake up Zhang and see if he knows the right prayers to write down to render the thing dormant ('cause if there is anything more dangerous than a jiang shi, it's a jiang shi that knows kung fu): with the crowlets guarding upstairs and the room doors warded - a fact that'll soon be demonstrated to those that don't know - it's not really going anywhere other than the hall.

Additionally, jiang shi may be nigh-unstoppable without recourse to their weaknesses (there are books in the library that'd add to Knowledge: Occult rolls), but they're also pretty slow, especially if not goaded into a zombie rush by a nearby source of active chi.

Have fun?

I am considering running away to sea or living feral on the moors as an alternative to the mess of early 90s excavation archiving I'm currently trying to beat into sensicality, but I worry about who would feed my chickens.

In reply to Alouette (msg # 943):

We did, spent 3 days in Peaslake, Surrey before heading into London. Managed to mind the gap at appropriate times, got to roam around the British Museum seeing the Egypt exhibit, wandered around the Tate Modern trying to find the meaning of the art, and rode the London Eye like a tourist should.

As for the chickens ... bring them with you ;)

Re: Of Your  Mom

I feel so bad for Percy right now...he's actually a decently smart and very competent young man, but his greatest value to everyone in the house right now is to literally have the piss taken out of him (this is canonical jiang shi folklore, by the way).

That on top of getting death cursed and having a significant proportion of his friends murdered within a couple of days, some of them subsequently reanimating to try and kill him.

[looks up Mr. Kelly] ...do I want to know?

You know, if you don't know already, then don't look it up.

And yes, Percy is not in an enviable position. The group's salvation is his virginity and his urine, both openly bandied about - and soon he'll have to piss into a bucket in front of everybody.

Still, there's room for a lot of dry comedy.

Re: Of Your  Mom

Ye-eah...

To be fair, 'slut' was surprisingly close to gender-equal back then, so he gains Victorian Manly Self-Control points in context. Still, if there's anything worse than everyone in a room demanding you have to pee heroically, it's that "everyone" including your mother (who would point out she's seen it a thousand times before, and changed your nappies afterwards, if you objected). I should give him a kakadann or something, the kid needs some kind of epic reward for this.

[thought] I wonder if jiang shi are disproportionately attracted to Evans, since he's both an Arcane Type and the village bike...

How everyone who can't afford the upkeep of their own one gets a ride, naturally.

Alouette is on a Quest for a ladder now, if you were wondering. It knows that ladders are how you get on roofs if there are no stairs, and where to find one, so presumes William and his ghost friends are going to protect the mortal as it goes to be helpful...

Geography - not my strong point

Is the Gulf of Mexico not part of the Atlantic? Wikipedia isn't very clear on the subject.

Re: Geography - not my strong point

In Texas, we never refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the Atlantic, and I believe the same can be said for all of the Gulf Coast states. Whether or not it is technically 'part of the Atlantic' is another matter upon which I claim no expertise. The more important thing (arguably) in this case is at the least practically and colloquially, while nobody denies that the aforementioned labeled bodies of water are connected, the Gulf of Mexico is not considered part of the Atlantic and not discussed as such.

Edit: A case to consider from your perspective, and I don't know how this is dealt with practically in your part of the world: Do you refer to the North Sea or the English Channel (or the Irish Sea or the Celtic Sea, etc.) as the "Atlantic" in a practical sense? It is not the same, but similar.

Ah, right, I get it. Thanks for that. Put the error down to Widow Bradshaw's general ditziness and/or being on smack (they prescribed laudenum for just about everything back then, including depression).

Oh, and since William murdered Arthur on sight whilst being a grim needle-fanged god of war, thought I'd share his intro song with y'all anyway:

Who says we don't all learn something new in the course of these roleplaying games of ours?

Oh, also, it appears that we are reaching the 1000 post limit on this thread. It may well be time for OOC V. Which Blackthorn location will it be named after? (I vote for Underhill's House of Rest).

Hee...are you busy or waiting on the priest to lead off, by the way?

As for the thread, I'll attend to it if we hit 980, but I feel it's the Stray's perro- peroga- his thing to do. I'd probably have it as part of the mine, or Ghost Wolf's camp, actually...the House of Rest would be sort of crowded.

I typically name the OOC threads after important campaign areas.
