Mime Aid?

Anyhoo, I just finished Advancing him. Bumped his Spirit, his Faith & Fighting, then gave him Charismatic (everyone has come to him for answers over the course of the game) and Elan (he gets +2 to the final total whenever he spends a Fate Chip).

And my television is full of sand

Silly story for today because I'm in a silly mood and a silly thing happened.

I'm not going to assume everyone's familiar with such a thing, so I apologize if you don't need all the explanation but otherwise the story doesn't make a lot of sense.

My computer is self assembled and the case I used is a little fancier than some other cases, and one of the fancy things it has are some features that keep your computer from getting hot and/or dusty inside, such as a, wait for it, dust filter.

Anyway it's not rocket science, you just pull it out of its bracket on the bottom of the case every so often and clean it out.

My mother saw me do this once several months ago and asked what on earth I was doing taking a part off of the computer (she has no idea how computers actually work and was afraid I had broken it).

I explained it was a filter that helps keep the interior of the computer clean and I was just going to clean it out.

She looked at it and said "Oh, it's like the linen filter in a clothes dryer".  And I responded yes, that's a fairly good comparison.

She seemd very pleased with this all, which didn't surprise me given her well documented hatred of dust.

Anyway fast forward a bit.  Apparently she's been in the process of collecting dryer lint to use in some sewing project as stuffing.  I had long since forgottent the moment I just described.

She calls me and out of the blue asks if my computer is full of dryer lint.

Re: And my television is full of sand

*Chuckle* Ah, mothers and their not-tech-savyness... ;-)

My mom will get the store manager on the line and complain about the new TV's washed-out-colors or the blow dryer not blowing or whatever appliance at home she recently bought either doesn't work at all or doesn't quite work like it's supposed to.

But, ever once in a while, we'll have coffee or lunch in a nice restaurant and I'd ask her if she'd seen the new pictures of our daughter I sent her and she'd say: "No, my internet wasn't working for the last week or two. I was meaning to ask you about that. Any idea, what the problem might be?"

Glad I'm not the only one with a mom who asks him those kid of questions.

It is always fun trying to do tech support for my mom over the phone as 9 times out of 10 the issue is due to some random flash game she downloaded.

Heh. Glad I don't have that issue, since my mom was using computers before I was and tends to be a bit savvier about computer-issues. Then again, she usually turns to my dad for help before me anyway.

Re: And my television is full of sand

My dad's not great with technology beyond hitting rocks together...he became enamoured of Outlook Express years back, and early on called me over to deal with the computer because "messages kept going to his Drafts folder".

I suspected connection issues, but no, everything was fine...so I asked him to show me what he was doing, and it's immediately clear that the problem is critical user error. It is very hard to think up a respectful way to suggest that if one wants to send messages, one should press "Send".

A realisation

The Dust Adders aren't super-keen on Charging Bear yet.

I just realised...since Wildcat left, if McCoy's tied up keeping Cantrell from bullying Blackthorn's noncombattants, there is only one (quasi)legally deputised individual in charge of the rest of the town/defenses.

Re: A realisation

Yeah I'm not wild IC or OOC about leaving Kingsnake Cantrell there but taking him along seemed even worse.

Leaving him in town is a hedge against further mayhem.  I know he's going to do something bad, but I'm hoping what he does isn't as bad as what might happen if he weren't there.

Also, Cantrell seems the type to turn on you at the last second when the Big Bad makes him a better offer.

Adrian's player may be sporadic from Thursday 'til after the holidays on account of going to Foreign Climes, so I doubt he'll mind overmuch if you want to go before him.

Plus, chips! I'll have to put a notification up and all.

Re: A realisation

At the start you'll be about 15 squares away, but you have 6 movement per round free, so that'll get you in decent range.

There remains:
- one hound circling round to get at Jake
- one next to the clank
- and one harassing O'Rourke and the downed Evans.

The latter group are marginally nearer y'all running back.

Wildcat:
Well the matches didn't burn long, but she had quite a few of them.  Wildcat struck one near the floor to see if there was anything that might ignite that she could carry.

Really trying to not use two Miracles back to back.  XD

I vote that if Wildcat calls up a Light Miracle it should manifest as a bright circle over the crown of her head.

Pfft...Moses didn't have rays of light, he grew holy horns, everyone knows that...

(in case you're confused, Stray, it's one of those Biblical transcription errors that caused various riots and bloodshed back when no-one could read and naturally took the magic guys who could's pronouncements literally, due to a metaphor that didn't translate.)

Re: A realisation

Hello everyone! I managed to get some internet access on my laptop over here, and so I got on, made a post and unleashed a little plus plus witchery. The next three days are going to be a festive series of events, so I'm not sure if I'll be back on, though I may. Hopefully the numbers are right.

In any case, hope y'all are well and have a good holiday.

Try to spot a milkmaid/man with his/her/its bags, I want to know how they carry them!

Adrian, enjoy your time in foreign lands, and more generally, may the waxing year treat everyone well.

Have some singy Russians.

And some more, because shiny.
