"Well, alright, but if we run into another horror from beyond, we run instead of tryin' to play paddy-cake. Deal?"

((OOC: make a notice check for me. You can also roll for Danny, if you like))

Re: Chapter 14.4: Shootout at the Weeping Moon Lodge

The back of the building doesn't have any obvious entrances...there's no back door, and no windows to speak of. If there are any hidden entrances, they don't reveal themselves as Danny and Jake search.

"Maybe we should get the angel machine here." Danny says. "She can find things. She's good at that."

She?

((OOC: You could try another round of Notice checks, too...there's nothing stopping you from making more checks. However, each check takes ten minutes, cutting further and further into The Golden Hour. You've already spent 10 minutes searching about since you were wounded.))

"Yeah... sure kid..." Jake says then he coughs. It has a nasty sound and an even worse taste to it. He looks at the spit in his hand blood making the spit slicker than it should've been. "Let's go see the clank."

Re: Chapter 14.4: Shootout at the Weeping Moon Lodge

The pair limp along the roads, heading back past the barricades. It seems like most folk are already huddled and hidden...the streets are deserted and there's no lights on anywhere.

As the pair heads toward the Grand Bull Saloon (Danny mentioned he'd seen Evans taking the clank that way earlier), they spot a commotion. Someone is running, popping off shots into the darkness.

"To arms! To arms! Monsters at the Grand Bull!" he shouts, though he's still some distance away.

((OOC: Danny and Jake are currently near the Undertaker's place on the Grand Bull map))

Re: Chapter 14.4: Shootout at the Weeping Moon Lodge

"I don't think that's possible." Danny mutters beside him. "This town's a little patch of Perdition, it is!"

As Jake looks, a great number of...somethings fly out of the Grand Bull's doors. They could be black-winged birds, or bats, or tiny devil imps for all he can tell...but his mind races back to the glimpse of the Hunting Grounds he had, and the crows everywhere...

((OOC: Make a Fear check (+ Grit, - 4 Fear level, - wounds) for me, please.

The swarm is at Long range for Bolt.))

((OOC: Why is it that Phobia seems to be this group's most common Failed Guts Check result? Seriously. It's frickin' odd!

Think we should make it official and give Jake a Minor Phobia to small birds?))

Re: Chapter 14.4: Shootout at the Weeping Moon Lodge

Jake's eyes grow to the size of small sauces, "Devil birds! How have you followed me here!" the man cries in a voice higher than his own. He levels his pistol on the murder and takes a half step back. "Be gone! Trouble me not here! Not in the real world! Go back to the hunting grounds where you belong!"

Re: Chapter 14.4: Shootout at the Weeping Moon Lodge

Danny looks at Jake, alarmed. "Are ye crazy? why are ye shoutin'? You'll bring the whole bloody town on us!"

He doesn't need to worry about the town...the flock seems to have taken notice of all the shouting, and is beginning to fly Jake's way...

Some of the Dust Adders who've taken sniping positions on various rooftops look around, confused, seeking targets...but all they see are birds. THEY KNOW NOT THE EVIL OF THE DEMON CROWS!

((OOC: Though since they're quite far, it'll take them a while.))

"The town will be the least of our worries if those infernal crows get to us." Jake looks about for a flame or something that might aid him versus the murder coming his way. His eyes and general motions are jerky and almost crazed.

Jake's close to the Undertaker's shop. The Undertaker's not around anymore, but some embalming fluid might be there...that stuff tends to be quite flammable.

The huckster's eyes dance deviously as he spices the Undertaker's 'store'. "I think I have a solution to this devilry." Jake makes a mad dash - or as best as he can - towards the Undertaker's.

Re: Chapter 14.4: Shootout at the Weeping Moon Lodge

"Er...right." Danny says, looking at the building. "I'll...I'll just be waitin' outside, then."

The undertaker's shop is a complete mess. Several windows have been busted out, and there's glass everywhere. The place reeks of death and formaldehyde. There's a body on the slab, one that's been dead for a few hours. There's an open coffin near the back door...and something''s moving near it.

"Crows must have ransacked the place... knowing I'd come here. Villainous creatures that they are." Jake says as he surveys the Undertaker's.

His eyes shift to the movement in the back, "Did they leave a brother behind." Moving quietly as a man who's feels like he just went 12 rounds with the heavy weight champ can, Jake levels his gun on the movement.

OOC:
13:24, Today: Jake Lawrence rolled -3,-2 using 1d4-5,1d6-5, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3. Stealth (Untrained, -3wp).

As he moves closer, he stumbles over the discarded coffin lid. The noise startles the creature, a dog, who raises his bloody muzzle out of the coffin and runs out the back door.

Re: Chapter 14.4: Shootout at the Weeping Moon Lodge

The smell of formaldehyde seems to be a factor, or maybe it's the fact that he was punched half to heck by a giant, stitched-together corpse not fifteen minutes ago...

Wait. Formaldehyde. On the ground. Smashed bottles...something wrecked this place good. Maybe he could lure the crows in here, light a match, and set the fumes on fire...or maybe there's some spare supplies somewhere.

The question is, does he have the time for another, more thorough search? Those things were flying pretty quickly...

Re: Chapter 14.4: Shootout at the Weeping Moon Lodge

Danny's still there, waiting. "Did ye find what you were lookin' for?" he asks. He points back to the Grand Bull. "The crows vanished. Saw 'em just up and disappear. Freaky thing, really."

It's true. The crows seem to be gone, though Jake knows they're just hiding, waiting to strike...

But there's no sign of them. Just a pair of men with guns, heading for the Grand Bull...and the clank, stepping out of the swinging doors of the same.
