Re: Interlude: The Dream Quest of Charging Bear

Charging Bear is lucky. The whirling swarm of crow manitou seem entirely uninterested in him, enough so that he's able to reach the giant pile of kindling in the center of the charnal scene unmolested. The bonfire stack looms before him, smelling of wood and lamp oil and despair, a giant mass of kindling just waiting for a spark to bloom into flame.

Re: Interlude: The Dream Quest of Charging Bear

The native son takes a pair of matches and attempts to strike them. Should that actually work, he'll try to get the bonfire started again in a possible rather vain attempt to stop the murder of crow manitou from causing the poor souls any more distress.

Re: Interlude: The Dream Quest of Charging Bear

The crow swarms screech as the pile of oil-soaked wood bursts into eerie blue flame at the touch of Charging Bear's match. The swarm takes wing, circling above the grisly tableau. It probably won't last...once their surprise wears off, they'll likely return to pecking at the crucified. But it gives Charging Bear enough time to free one or two of them before the swarm returns.

Re: Interlude: The Dream Quest of Charging Bear

As Charging Bear searches around the hillside, he notices one of the souls drop from the wheel it was nailed to, then another, then a third. Something is happening to loosen them from their bonds without Charging Bear's help...

But it's not going very quickly, and the birds are starting to collect themselves again. Charging Bear finds a claw hammer...that should help pulling out the nails on the souls that remain.

((OOC: To figure out what's going on, make a Knowledge (Occult) check. To remove a soul from one of the wheels without harming it further, make a Strength -2 check.)

Re: Interlude: The Dream Quest of Charging Bear

Something must be happening in the worlds, Charging Bear realizes. This place is a refection of the horror Itza-chu perpetrated...things here affect the world, and vice versa. Someone must be acting on the other side to pull down the captives. That means the Dust Adder must have won his fight with Itza-Chu.

If Charging Bear frees people here, it might help the Dust Adder free people on the other side...

But what does that mean about the bonfire he just set?

Re: Interlude: The Dream Quest of Charging Bear

Charging Bear reaches the nearest woman and begins pulling her down. She cries out as the nails are removed from her arms, and flops limply into Charging Bear's arms. "So weak..." she murmurs. "so...thirsty...please...let me have a drink...just a few drops..." She begins kissing Charging Bear's neck...then bites down hard.

((OOC: Vampire Dance hall girl, yay! She attempts a Touch attack against Charging Bear to regain her strength. Since she's not at powerful as, say, Jenny or Marina, this attack won't do any damage, just Fatigue.

10:18, Today: Vampires! rolled 6 using 1d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 4. she bites! That's a hit. CB, roll Vigor or suffer a level of Fatigue.))
