Re: Tales from the forum

I do believe I recapped Widow Bradshaw's explanation for why the priest was being sacrificed recently enough for easy reference, though I've been sick since Friday and possibly temporally confused.

Still, now you know why I had you jump through hoops to land a blow, then rolled a soak for it the first time...I'd have tried here, but Adrian being determined and (over)confident is 100% him, and I'm down to one GM chip.

Also and again, it doesn't make your life easier, but it's unlikely Omi's siblings will stick about unless forced...neither of them are as genial or interested in mortals as he was, but that mostly means they underestimate them.

Re: Tales from the forum

Well, the explanation is there, though I suppose I misinterpreted it - or didn't understand that any painful death would suffice, or that the ritual had begun. For Adrian, it was simply the only way he could think to save the priest and Sister Sarah. I guess Omi can't make her his wife anymore, or kill the priest...so a technical success, though perhaps he won the battle only to lose the war.

Re: Tales from the forum

The ritual was the reason for the timer - y'all heard the chanting as you came up the hill.

Oh, no, this is absoloutely a win in my book: Omi dead, posse have access to a source of venom from Tez's close kin, Adrian has a supernatural boost, and, most importantly, O'Rourke hasn't had the still-beating heart ripped from his chest (the answer to that last riddle was 'a door', by the way, and Omi intended to kill the priest that way to open the portal as a hint...you saved him with seconds to spare, there).

I was just re-pointing it out in case y'all thought Adrian's case of (to resort briefly to Troperese) Nice Job Breaking It Hero was completely out of the blue or mean-spiritedness.

Besides, now there's enough snake-wizards for everyone! Yay!

Re: Tales from the forum

Here's to hoping we'll get Alouette, Evans, and Pierce to the scene at some point.

William Pierce:
They couldn't wait for 10 fucking seconds?"

10 seconds? I thought several minutes had passed by this time. I suppose, though, the divergence in events has created something of an odd timeline.

Re: Tales from the forum

Yeah, it's been at least five minutes, probably more like seven, but you're still in sync - Team Vampire Hunter spent the same time running out onto the plain that Team Depression spent sneaking up to the rise. Then you both spent a round of combat plus talking, which is about the same.

William's just being his usual couth and patient self, is all, there's no temporal weirdness going on.

Heavy Henry:
Henry nods, and goes about pulling the snake skeletons free of the Indian skeleton, then pulls the fang knife from the dead man's hand. "Huh." he says as he looks it over. "Feels warm, and there's a squishy bit wrapped here. Wonder why it's like that..."

{{BANG! AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!}}

The gunshot screams out of the darkness, accompanied by an unholy wailing. Heavy Henry pitches backward, propelled by the force of the shot, blood spurting from

From...? Is Wildcat going to have trouble laying on hands or something? Also can she/those not his original targets hear Nate this time?

Hi CB! We've mostly been pissing off minor snake-related deities and playing charades about bombs. Oh, and Nate's back and being annoying again, but at least it's not behind CB this time.

For interest, the new Greater Rattlesnake Manitou siblings' names translate roughly as "Sacrificial Knife Serpent" and "Scorches The Earth And Leaves None Alive Serpent".

Hey, it works for Dr.McNinja. Unfortunately, Carl does not know this secret, and any attempts to attack the incorporeal would be likely to end up like Finland vs. the Scariest Ghost Ever...

Just Tez reminding Jake he exists, in case he got any funny ideas about atheisim.

Actually, given the way the Deadlandsverse works, I do wonder if a really determined atheist would be massively arcane resistant...it's an entertaining thought.

Just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean it isn't there. Though if you wanted to make a trapping for Arcane Resistance that dealt with Atheism ... that would work.

Re: Out of town!

The Deadlandsverse uses faith in [insert aethericially active force/entity/person/thing] as the basic unit of magical power, though, so logically if someone had non-faith as genuine as the faith that gave people powers it would subtract from the effects of those powers, being the natural inverse.

I'd probably modify the edge like that if I were to make it a Thing, though I'd probably throw in some limitations (along the lines of 'has to really not believe') and related benefits (maybe ghosts can't interact with the Atheist in any way, or they get +4 vs. being cursed, something like that).

Re: Reminder needed

The weakness of the serpents are:

- Liquor
- Riddles/Wordplay (Maybe you can use these to buy time, though it seems like your snake is a bit past that stage)
- Their own poison or that of one of their kin

If you can hit it on a poison gland (talk to Alouette about the penalty; for me it was -6 for the first attempt and -4 for subsequent attempts) and pierce it's poison gland, it will probably kill the snake. The poison gland is also a less armored spot.

An alternative method would be to obtain some of the snake's poison from an already dead snake that Adrian is standing beside. William probably doesn't know much about that situation, but if he should find himself nearby Adrian or Harry Lazarus, that information can be communicated to him.
