Re: Chapter 17.4  And The Crows Will Dig Your Grave

The woman lies in stark white on the dark floor like a dropped doll. Nearing her, Ambrose notes her left arm is twisted awkwardly beneath her and that she's breathing. A wet, bad rattle underlies each breath, but the lungs draw feebly in.

[[no cows right here right now (you're in the upper part of the area cleared by flamethrower, in fact); carry on]]

[[You're lucky she's a) skinny and b) has no spinal injuries...you can reach the kitchen again, but you'd need to run(drag) to get right back into the laundry room. She'd be safer if Evans actually picked her up, though that'd give him his hands full...]]

Re: Chapter 17.4  And The Crows Will Dig Your Grave

Evans pulls the unconscious woman as far as he can into the kitchen, then kneels and fumbles with his elixir of snake oil. He sets the hot end of his flamethrower against the wound, cauterizing the flesh. It would leave a nasty scar, but that wasn't important now...what was important was snapping her out of shock. That accomplished, Evans poured his snake oil elixir on the wound, watching the wound sizzle as it began to close.

((OOC: First off, I'm going to play an Adventure Card

quote:
4C - Hot Iron and Whiskey
“Here, bite on this.”
Play on a wounded character. That character has ONE wound healed, but gains a permanent scar. Roll on the Injury Table in the Savage Worlds core book for location. The character gains a –1 to charisma if the scar is visible.

Since that automatically heals a wound, I can skip healing the Incapacitated parts and move straight to using my snake oil on her actual injury.

08:34, Today: The Amazing Evans rolled 1,1 using d8-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 3,3. Snake Oil! Going to chip that.

08:35, Today: The Amazing Evans rolled 4,0 using d8-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 6,2. red chip reroll.

Altogether I heal 2 wounds.

[[You weren't holding things up on my thread, at least...you can keep the Joker for the next round, but you're still after the vampires in this one. I may start an outside thread if more characters wind up there.]]

Liz Bradshaw comes to with a scream at the field cauterisaton, clawing Evans close as he tries to work until her eyes at last focus and she sinks to panting in his arms, teeth gritted against the pain. "..hff...hff...'nk you...maybe...nngh.."

The priest leaves his efforts to strike a deal with the floor and jogs up to the barrier, raising his voice to be heard: "How bad is it with her?"

[[O'Rourke goes on Hold, seeing if people are all right.]]

Al makes to pull Percy back into the library, but frowns and grips the rail instead.
"What're you doin' down there, Evans? Is Liz alive?"

Percy licks his lips, forcing all emotion out of the fore of his mind, and shoulders his rifle. His shot at the animals heading upstairs is a little off for causing damage, but the force of the charge seems to have turned away from the library. The youth swallows, lowering the weapon, but doubles over coughing before he can do anything else.

Dave grits his teeth, sets his shoulders back and plunges in among the cattle, quickly lost to view.

[[Percy Bradshaw, rolled 3,1 using d6-1,d6-1, rerolling max with rolls of 4,2. shootin'. Miss.

Outside, Jake clings to the ground whilst cattle blunder around him. He doesn't seem to have been spotted yet...

Re: Chapter 17.4  And The Crows Will Dig Your Grave

The vampire cowboy pitches back off his horse as though lanced by a lightning-weilding Comanche. He can be heard cursing on the ground even above the sound of the cattle and the cannonball-in-a-bathtub roll of thunder.

The horse might as well be stuffed for all the reaction it gives, standing unnaturally still as cattle boil around it.

[[Anyway, let's get this moving again. If Sarah's not posted by Monday I'll leave her on Hold, and I'll NPC JohnJohn if necessary if he doesn't draw in next round or otherwise show he's about.

I somehow hallucinated I'd replied to the above post, but yes, that's a nice Shaken for the cowboy.

Re: Chapter 17.4  And The Crows Will Dig Your Grave

Sorry, everyone.  I completely spaced that it was my turn.

From behind the wall of glowing light, Sarah called out: "Sweet Lord, please show us Your blessing, and let Your bounty spring forth!"

The floorboards began to creak alarmingly.  Already burdened by the weight of the hellcows, suddenly they split open, and sprouts came pouring out.  The sweet smell of summer grass filled the room, and the grasping tendrils started to wrap around everything in reach.  The vinelike appendages started to grab hold of everything, and held them fast.  Finally, each sprouted a small but colorful flower, so you could see beauty as you were stuck in place.

That's a 9 after spending a few chips:

01:24, Today: Sister Sarah rolled 4 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4. Blue Chip bonus.
01:23, Today: Sister Sarah rolled 5,3 using d12-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 7,5. White chip.
01:23, Today: Sister Sarah rolled 0,0 using d12-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 2,2. Entangle.

Re: Chapter 17.4  And The Crows Will Dig Your Grave

The cows in the foyer try to escape what's underhoof, lowing in panic. The flaming animal crunches into the side of the stairs, another flees up them, and one of the animals recently forced into the building loses its footing, causing those around it to stumble, off-balance and easily caught by the mobile grass and wildflowers.

[[Bane Cows rolled 5,7 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,(6+1)7. group resistance vs flower power. One Herd template (5 cows) is Entangled, though not Shaken.]]

Lightning flashes
.

Static hisses through the clank's brazen form like the indrawn breath of God. It looks up as thunder booms outside, lenses burning with pale gold light.

[[After that Jokerful pull I had a bit of trouble working out what Milady would do, but then I realised it was simple after all. Nearest thing = food.
Alouette rolled 7,2 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 7,2. go go gadget murder spree! Power up!]]

In the kitchen, Hardin spiders over the top of the barrier, clinging to the ceiling, and shoots at the injured steer with his natural arms. The animal turns awkward, thrashing circles as lead nicks its flank and foreleg, bellowing dismay.

[[John Wesley Hardin, rolled 4,5 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4,5. shootin'.
John Wesley Hardin, rolled 7 using 2d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,5. damage cow.

John Wesley Hardin rolled 7,1 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 7,1. more shootin'.
John Wesley Hardin, rolled 5 using 2d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,2. damage cow.

Two hits, rubbish damage.
Kitchen steer remains Shaken. Onward!

[[Template, template, who's in a template...no-one! Well, except Jake; he can make a Trample check all his own in just a minute.

On to breaking things, then. Entangled cows, can you unentangle yourselves?
Bane Cows rolled 3,-1 using d6-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 5,1 Nope.

On fire cow, do you set the stairs on fire?
Bane Cow rolled 2 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2. fire check. No.

Bane Cow rolled 1 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1. plus fire? no intensity change.
Alouette rolled 10 using 2d10, rerolling max with rolls of 1,9. fuego! no further injury, either. Och, coo, you're fine on fire. Go attack the stairs.
On fire cow rolled 8 using 1d12+2, rerolling max with rolls of 6. on fire cow smash! Not quite, fortunately for y'all upstairs.]]

The cattle caught among the sudden meadow's tangles thrash and low piteously as the clank stalks towards them, the rest flowing away from the eerily graceful metal form, crashing into the stairs and the hole in the living room wall.

There's screaming somewhere outside, not all of it sounding human.

New cattle from outside stick to the walls, blindly following those already running. In the kitchen, the steer turning circles abruptly snorts and refocuses on Hank, a strange shika-shika-shika rattling from its chest.

Upstairs, the remaining cattle barge down the corridor and find only a dead end. In the press and panic one animal suddenly falls through the main bedroom's wall with a tremendous splintering crash.

Adrian feels his hunger sharpening almost to the point of pain at the smell of blood. Behind him, Su pokes her head out of the library and starts swearing.

[[Kitchen steer, how do ye?
Bane Cow rolled 11 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+5)11. unshake? Unshaken with raise.
Bane Cow rolled 1 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1. fightin'. ...but not hittin' nothin'.

Upstairs coos scramble, hit a dead end, try to escape by bashing things.
Bane Cow rolled 11 using 1d12+2, rerolling max with rolls of 9. outta my way, wall! Ward's bedroom is now air-conditioned.]]

Outside, the cattle seem less than calmed by the ongoing thunder and hail, and Jake is hard-put to keep his feet.
