Out of Character chat

This is the place to chat when it's not your character speaking.

Re: Out of Character chat

I have given everyone a generic 2nd ed character sheet.

Feel free to use, abuse, rearrange or replace as the whim suits you.

Re: Out of Character chat

Okay using the rules my character is a pretty tough lady with few weak points but is illiterate, well reading/writing costs 2 nwp slots and well is not a priority for a barbarian. Maybe the mage can teach her to write her name nice though that shouldn't take a proficiency. ;) She is not a dummy she is actually pretty smart and has a decent head on her shoulders though just well is a barbarian and not big on fancy living.

Overall went with a nwp to represent what trade her family did, farming on a homestead and picked up combat favored ones and ones a barbarian that did honest work would have.

Now how much starting gold do we get and any magic items? I suspect not the latter but should have some added stuff just from looting bodies even we were not prosperous.

Re: Out of Character chat

I am going to be overly trusting, and allow you guys to purchase what you wish, within reason.

Then once you guys are stocked up, we will toss starting cash on top.

You will have the chance to take a wagon with you, once things get going, which I hope will be soon.

Re: Out of Character chat

funny stuff! hehehe... I once had a dungeon master tell me I could have anything I wanted, so I wrote B-52 (which was a famous airplane from years ago, though they still fly) on my character sheet.

He was not amused.

Re: Out of Character chat

I have a suggestion here I find works when running a game:

1st Level give the mage one defensive spell, one offensive spell, two miscellaneous spells (not clearly just for combat), one elective anywhere (specialists would add one additional spell).

2nd level two spells (specialists add another one additional spell).

I think at 3rd level that would be fair.

Re: Out of Character chat

I roll them, and considering the background, you will get a healthy selection of spells in your book.

I will pop over to your character sheet in a little bit and add them.

Re: Out of Character chat

One of the things I am really trying to be serious about with this game is the pace of play.

Not badgering Paladin here mind you, that's cool, but it did put me in mind of this.

In order for the game to not bog down, I am thinking of having a deadline for all character sheets to be complete, I am thinking ten days from now, or March 27th.

The penalty for failure is not expulsion, not right away, anyway, but I am planning on scattering a few magic items around the party, and those who are ready on time will be rewarded.

I am also serious about the posting every three days things. I may stretch it to every four, but if you know you are going to be out for a couple of days, it behooves you to post something in character the day before and the after your absences.

I am very serious about making this happen. I understand this pace is not for everyone, but I do want it to be for everyone who decides to play.

Could everyone who reads this, and still wants to participate please acknowledge this with a short reply?

Thanks.

Re: Out of Character chat

I just am not sure about gear I would like at least one family magic item like her fathers sword from his days in a major campaign as a young warrior or something. I was thinking of something a Sure Strike weapon its not a 2nd Edition one the weapon would be +1 but the magic lets it determine what it can hit as a +5 weapon in short it could hit anything but just get a +1 magical bonus proper. [Its in fact from the Forgotten Realms 3rd Edition setting but if I get something it would be a weapon she would always use until she passes it on to someone or she dies clutching it.]

Other than that I planned a simple outfit of piece armor using the gladiator list for inspiration and what on her would look good. And some mundane weapons as backups.

But just want an okay on the weapon I plan to name it something since well its kind of customary.

Re: Out of Character chat

You jumped right over my post, and didn't reply. I am hurt, Stolyn.

Feel free to name a weapon, I will decide what it does later, though the speed at which your sheet is completed will affect the final result!

Re: Out of Character chat

In reply to ADM (msg #12):

I am in and can post as often as needed in the evenings.

I am looking at specialty Mages -  invoker/envoker possibly.   More then likely a human though elf is on the list as well as 1/2 elf.  Not multi-classing F/M or F/M/C like I usually do (unless we need that combo in the group) going straight mage.

My main Spell request at low level is Armor, mages need that big time at low levels to survive and of course an offensive spell :)

Name:  Thatch Pathwork

Description/completion of character by Monday/Tuesday night latest.

I will fill in my character details section as I go along getting ready.

Daily on weekdays is fine, the more the better. Seriously. Games that post in days usually die but weekends are usually a good down time.
