Re: Episode 4:  Mirror, Mirror

“You need to fix this mess, and if you can’t ..well what good are you?” BJ said, letting it show in her voice that there was a limit to what she would tolerate in the discussion. “There are several students trying to clean up your messes,  I could arrange for protective custody if you like. My..associates have access to some of the best warded facilities in the world if you are worried about you group trying to hex you.”

Of course they were mostly prison cells but that was a detail she didn’t need to release. In the bottom of a salt mine, in warded cells, if rumors were true; but those were details she didn’t feel like telling

“If we go back to the Practically Magick Shop, Lauren already offered to help us.” Garrett tapped his lips with a well-manicured forefinger. Home styling counted among his OTHER Magickal talents. “But the more detours we take, the more trouble our clueless allies get into without our superior minds. Y’know?”

Melba parked her van and set off at a... well not a trot exactly and certainly not a run or even a jog... she set off at a fast waddle to find the Coach and Mrs van Tiel.

...Buffy would be fine. There was someone in far greater danger, and it was time for him to head that way.

Luthien would go looking for Shannon directly. There were...tasks he could help with. And would help with.

OOC: Subbing for Buffy!

IC:

Buffy quickly gave up pursuing Mr. Horny, and doubled back with all her Slayer speed. She looked pleased to see Mel & Gar. “Melba! You’re of The Good’ again, right?” Her cute chin bobbed in a hopeful nod. “Cuz if you & Garrett found what I hope you found, it’s time to help Luthien put our juvenile delinquent spirit in permanent detention!”

Melba cocked her head on one side and looked long and hard at Buffy.  "I'm good.  I think what we found will release Shannon and allow her to continue her journey.  I think she's been in detention long enough, don't you?  Sometimes black and white becomes grey."

Luthien meanwhile arrived where he needed to be.

"Well. This is interesting, isn't it?"

He's probably the last thing Shannon wants to see.

Melba kept on with her movement in a coachward direction and finally reached the place of confrontation between the Coach and the Headmistress.  "Got it." She said quietly to the coach.  "I think the Powers that Be TM might want to roll up this entire conspiracy and start a new one.  I have all we'll need for the State Attorney but I'd love to be able to slot all the demons involved into my matrix, you know, just for the sake of completeness.  I wonder whether our not so friendly neighbourhood vampire queen was involved."

Re: Episode 4:  Mirror, Mirror

“So glad you got here, Melba, I need you and your mystical mystery team to talk with her a bit. She’s involved with what is going on and is MORE than happy to help you out in your investigations to undo whatever blatherscype she’s set out.” The Coach was holding a pistol right at the Headmistress with unwavering firmnesss. It was clear that something other than the ‘cool coach’ was in charge now. There was a very large OR ELSE being unspoken in the air as she talked about what she’d learned to the others

Re: Episode 4:  Mirror, Mirror

"Is that right, Principle van Tiel?" asked Melba.  "Well to be honest, I have the names of all the humans involved.  You old people tend to be so blase about all the information about you that's on the Web." She said web with a definite capital letter, as if it was an object to be worshipped. "But a list of the demons involved as far as you know them would be most helpful.  I'm sorry Dr Strange", she added at the end, looking at Garrett with a wide grin (although everything about Melba is wide, of course it is.) "Looks like you won't get the opportunity to turn her soul inside out.  Maybe with one of the others."

“Hmm. ‘Soul-Ravaged’ probably wouldn’t be a good look for Van Tiel. It only accentuates crow’s feet and sallow skin tones,” Garrett said with a dismissive waggle of fingers at the errant headmistress. “Let’s go free our dear, departed Shannon from eternal misery in the Girl’s Bathroom.”

Re: Episode 4:  Mirror, Mirror

Melba waits until Mrs van Tiel has given the names of the demons involved in the conspiracy or until Ms Cordova paints the walls with Mrs van Tiel's brains.  Melba's not all that concerned which outcome happens to be frank.  Either will do.

Only once she has what she wants does she accompany Garrett to the girls' changing rooms ready to help free Shannon from the mirror.

Mrs. Van Tiel focused on the gun pointed at her head. “I’ll only give up that name if you hide me. If you won’t, then you might as well shoot me now.” She swallowed hard as she said so, but underneath the fear was a tangible despair. The woman was screwed either way.

"You can be hidden. Even in human terms, witness protection exists for a reason. Hiding you won't be that much effort. Speak what you can."

“Fair enough, I can turn you over to my superiors. You’d be unreachable in their custody. Answer their question!” BJ growled, leaving out she’d be in an initiative black site deep underground in a well warded cell in a deep salt mine.

The Assistant Dean nodded nervously. “Yes. We bargained with Iconna, a she-devil who lives in another dimension accessed through mirrors. She acquires power by anchoring the souls of her sacrifices to mirrors. Their torment and the chaos they wreak give her more power.”

Melba grins, "Welcome back then Thin White Duke.  Feel free to shoot darts in lovers' eyes but remember we two are far too snarky to love."  And with that, she leads Garrett and Luthien in the direction of the girls' changing room.

Melba runs her hand over her turquoise hair and winked at Garrett as the popular culture reference (or obscure film reference given where Melba works) flies over Luthien's head.  She keeps walking though.
