Re: Details: RTJ
Despite the disappearance of the game's primary GM, I'm still trying to run it (call it a stupid level of dedication to a promise I made him when he made me a co-GM), and as such, I'm still accepting RTJs (even though I can't advertise in the Wanted: Players thread due to the fact that I don't own the game.)
I have this information posted elsewhere in the game, but I want to repeat it here, as it's more likely to be seen.
A--While the game owner was trying to fill out the entire complement of pilots on the Ranger, I'm keeping the scope of the game more focused due to the length of time it's been since I last GM'd a game and the knowledge of my limited time schedule. As such, I'd prefer all characters (the active characters, at least) to be in Echo Squadron...it's just easier to run a detailed story for one group and sketch in details as needed for the rest. So, either plan to run a Veritech pilot or a ground crew member (if you've got your heart set on something else, I might be talked into it...but it will be easier to work you into the game going into Echo Squadron.)
B--The game is being run based on my knowledge and understanding of the Macross Saga. This means that stuff from the RPG, the additional Robotech series, or any of the movies is likely null and void in this game.
C--Your character should make sense. I know there were lots of characters throughout the various Robotech series who were brilliant Robotech scientists as well as combat pilots, but the majority of the Robotech specialists present during the Macross Saga period were aboard the SDF-1...and the ones who weren't would most likely be busy on Earth trying to figure out how to continue producing Robotechnology without the facilities aboard the SDF-1. So, no...I'm not going to let you play a pilot who knows so much about Robotech that he starts tweaking and upgrading his plane. I'm also not crazy about characters whose concepts are built on the 'the judge said it was this or jail' plotline. If the military leadership has concerns over whether or not you can be trusted, they are NOT going to put you in the cockpit of the latest, most powerful fightercraft available, no matter how talented you are. The best and brightest and most dangerous Robotech pilots were on SDF-1 when it vanished, so I'm not likely to allow you to come into the game as some kind of top ace. If you've got some outlandish or extreme character concept, you're going to have to present a GREAT argument for it before I'll say yes. I know this is freeform, but, c'mon...
D--I have a list of 'orphaned' characters (characters whose players have long since stopped checking in) that I'd be perfectly happy to assign to someone, if you want to jump into the game as someone who's been around for a while. Trust me, with the majority of them, you really don't have much of an established character to live up to, and if you want to rewrite the background to make them easier to use, I'm totally cool with that. If you'd like to go that route, look at the 'Orphaned Character List' thread (specifically, the second post.)
E--While I'm still running the game, my ability to focus on it for long enough to keep things running is pretty limited due to other demands, so it's a very lax posting rate (right now, I'm posting GM updates once every few weeks). This would quite likely go up with more active players in the game, but I really don't have a 'minimum posting rate' I expect. It would be nice if you could post something once a week or so, but I'm not going to ask anything that I can't guarantee I'll match.
If I haven't totally killed your interest in participating at this point, then by all means, send me your RTJ and let's play.
