Re: Finished for tonight

Emerging from holidays with nosy in-law family, and the flu from travelling.  Back to land of the living (mostly) folks, and glad to be human again.
Or dwerg, as the case may be :)

Happy New Year all

Anyone want to do a random roll or two?

Anyone other than Valan's player.  Rolls and what the results mean are in a private line below that can't be seen by his player.

Snow!

From the Announcement thread:

quote:
We're setting in for the first REAL storm of the winter season (the slight dusting we got earlier doesn't count).  While bundled up with the dog and hot soup for the weekend, I hope to work my way through all the threads, AND to answer the PMs (including some fairly major ones for Anansi and Konrad) that have been languishing.

Work the past few weeks has been like the oncoming blizzard -- things just keep piling up and I've been spending most of my evenings working rather than posting.  Hope to make it up to you this weekend.

I don't know which of you all in the US are in the path, though I do know a few who aren't -- you bastards with your warm weather.  For those who are, I hope you stay warm, experience no power outages, and have enterprising local teenagers who will do whatever shoveling you require.

Snow!

It was awesome to take ol' blue (my 1990 Chevy Suburban w/o ALS) in the snow on the way back from work. I came up to JD and played bump the curb every time I touched the brakes and laughed the whole way (about 2 miles) home from being only one of three drivers that worked today. Started at 0630 and was done by 1130.

I hate the way people in VA drive, but love to drive crazy in it myself, when no one else is around to get hit that is.

Oh and got permission to make my slow cooker chili. :D

For some insane reason I am heading INTO the blizzard. Flying into the NE from sunny CA.
What am I thinking??

What ARE you thinking?

All flights into and out of Philadelphia International are canceled.  We have a couple of depositions (one for DC, one for Boston) postponed because the other attorneys were coming from Seattle/San Francisco and were afraid they wouldn't be able to get in, or get back out in any reasonable amount of time.

We probably have a foot of snow already and it's supposed to keep snowing pretty much all day.

The puppy got us up at 6:00 a.m. wanting to go out.  Tried the front porch -- the roof over it and the configuration of the house keeps it mostly clear of snow.  She was having none of it; having been taught the back yard is the place for waste elimination, she imposed a pee boycott.  So while the spouse held her on a leash inside, I shoveled a path off the back porch and a small area at the base of the steps.

Which she refused to use.

I plowed our way through some wandering paths just using my legs and boots, with her dolphining up and down behind me.  Apparently right in the middle of the snow, with it up over the chest was the PERFECT place.

Ha!
My brother is in DC and face timed to show the 18-20 inches of snow they got- and it's still coming down. I'll be in NYC, so that promises a less extreme situation.

OK -got smart and delayed my arrival in NY until Tuesday. That should be enough time to get the city back on its feet.

The important thing is that people in our place are still alive after that blizzard.  It was nasty in some spots.

I hope you're holding out okay, Bev!   (everybody else, too)

Meanwhile, in Texas, we're enjoying beautiful 70 degree weather today.  It's been another mild winter, like last year.

'Course, it's merely a consolation prize for what we get, come summer...

That's like, so yesterday.

Today, barely 50, with wind that makes it feel legitimately chilly.

Got a great job offer on Friday, handed my letter of resignation this morning, and will be leaving Paris by the 2nd of March.
 I'm happy!
