The Curse of Blackwell Manor

Welcome to The Curse of Black of Blackwell Manor

We have a good group going still seeking 2 players to take over NPC's

Please read the following before sending me a Request to Join.

About the GM

Hello all!  Thank you for taking the time to preview my game.  That being said, I do genuinely feel that for those of us playing it is OUR game.  The decision to play "a game" might seem like a small one, but considering the time you put into it, and given the many opportunities out there for your gaming attention, it's important that you are fully aware of what you are getting into ahead of time. I am a professional, educated adult male who has been interest in FRPG since I was 13.  I am 51 now.  Previously, I have run 2 ongoing campaigns on this site; the longest of which went on for about 2 years.  I have played D&D ( many versions), Traveler, Star Frontiers, Gamma World , and Home-brew games loosely based on D&D. This game scenario is my own creation in the world of Dranabia and the game system GAAMRS is my own creation as well.  I have run many live table top campaigns using my system.  It is designed to be easier and more flexible than most FRPGs I have played and run. If you have any questions that are not already covered here feel free to message me here. Hope to see you in the game, and thank you for considering the Curse of Blackwell Manor.

About your Commitment

This game will require you to make a post at least 2 times per week.  This might seem slow, but that is the minimum requirement. The game might go faster depending on the enthusiasm of the players.  Given this medium, things go far more slowly than a live game, however it does allow for more thoughtful prose, roleplaying and detail.  Think of it as a fantasy novel that you are participating in.  During combat situations, you will be expected to post once every 24 hours.  Each player will have a play-partner who can post post as their surrogate in emergencies.  If you are unable to play for short periods due to illness, work, etc. then your play surrogate will be playing in your place.  If that fails the GM will be playing your PC for you if needed.  Repeated failures to post will result in the untimely death, disappearance or posession of your character by another entity.  Please understand your decision to join this game, means you understand how your involvement affects the enjoyment for EVERYONE. Also be advised, if over time, your participation becomes annoying, a similar occurence may occur.  I work too hard on this, and the other players spend too much time on this, to have one person ruin it.

About the Home-brew

Don't Panic!  It's easy!  I realize some players see HOME BREW and run.  I have plenty of experience using my system.  It is intuitive and easy to use, and it's simplicity of rules allows the game to focus more on actual role-playing than worrying about stats all the time.  It is basically a 2d6 based game and to make things easier, 4 game designed PCs will be available to choose from so you don't have to get bogged down in creating a PC.  The stats will be predetermined, but I will allow each player to input personality details about each PC.  There will be 2 PCs allowed who are NOT part of the created 4, who can be chosen from a list by 2 players who exhibit some decent prior gaming experience and who wish to play a more unique character.  Thus there will be 6 PCs in this game.

About the Game

Like all great civilizations, great families once strong and powerful crumble and fall like so many pillars of some lost city fade into obscurity over time. The traces remain, but the former glory and grandeur, their influence can only be felt as a distant memory, a reminder of what once was or could have been. So is the case with the Blackwells, a once prestigious palatine ( feudal estate) of the Kingdom of Messiah now but fading memory. For over 10 years Blackwell Estate has gone barren.  The fields of once prosperous farms have dried up, unable to yield. This sentence isn't part of this paragraph and is inserted here only to provide the code word literate to those who wish to join. Majestic woodlands have trees blighted and struggle to survive. The marshes nearby are rumored to crawl with dangerous monsters.  No one has heard from any member of the Blackwell family in years, and the manor house itself has been surrounded in a strange greenish fog that the locals have named, the Mist of No Return. In the nearby village things aren't much better.  Many residents have left years ago, leaving many farms, and buildings in ruins or completely abandoned.  Those who do remain eek out what meager living they can, among an atmosphere of gloom, and foreboding.<<

The Curse of Blackwell Manor

In reply to NaerthDM (msg # 22):

Hello,

I don't know if you are still looking for players but I would love the opportunity to seek through the mist of no return and discover what has happened to the Blackwell family. You're game sounds extremely interesting to me, the only thing is this is my first RPG other than Dungeons and Dragons and it may take me a wee bit to try and get used to the rules of your homebrew. I would love to join you on this adventure if you would be happy to have me.

Hope to hear from you soon,

HyperMonkey
