Deathwatch - The Doom of Damocles

The Eye of Damocles is a Watch Fortress of the Deathwatch. This watch fortress monitors the borders of Imperial space with the Tau Empire. But while this is their holy charge, many more threats fall under the purview of the watchful Eye. To the galactic west lies the brutal Ork Empire of Charadon. To the south, splinters from Hive Fleet Kraken continue to ravage any world they come across. And in every shadowed corner of this troubled portion of the Sea of Stars, Eldar plot and scheme against the realms of mankind.

It is the Eye of Damocles that you call home in the years since you have taken the Apocryphon Oath. Five long years of shadowy war in the service of the Deathwatch. Your Kill-Team has made itself a well deserved reputation for valor and tenacity in the right circles.

Watch Captain Jilantis has commanded you through every mission, and the passing of years. He is a fair, if distant, leader, with an iron-clad pride in the deeds of his more youthful years. However, with so many threats to the areas protected by the Eye of Damocles, he has grown more harried as the years have gone on. He hides it well, but one does not serve so closely with others and hide such a thing.

But stretched thin or not, your Kill Team has many duties to perform with so many enemies surrounding your domain. Watch Captain Jilantis has called for an assemblage of the Kill Team from their downtime activities. From the tone of his voice, he sounds angry. And the old warrior does not anger easily...

Seeking players for a Deathwatch game. This will NOT be a first come, first served kind of game. I know some view Space Marines and the Deathwatch RPG as simply a combat game, but I see real narrative potential and interesting plot hooks built into the Astartes.

This game will be a bit slower paced outside of combat posts. Expect about 3-5 GM posts a week.

So if you are looking for a good story, with hopefully a few curve balls thrown your wall, drop me an RTJ.

Deathwatch - The Doom of Damocles

I have been having luck with reviving old games that petered out due to RPOL attrition lately, so I thought I'd try my hand at this one:

The Eye of Damocles is a Watch Fortress of the Deathwatch. This watch fortress monitors the borders of Imperial space with the Tau Empire. But while this is their holy charge, many more threats fall under the purview of the watchful Eye. To the galactic west lies the brutal Ork Empire of Charadon. To the south, splinters from Hive Fleet Kraken continue to ravage any world they come across. And in every shadowed corner of this troubled portion of the Sea of Stars, Eldar plot and scheme against the realms of mankind.

It is the Eye of Damocles that you have called home since you have taken the Apocryphon Oath.

But recent misfortunes have soured the glory of serving the Deathwatch. Though danger lies at the heart of every mission in the Emperor's name, such is the magnitude of the odds usually faced that it is either only one, or the entire Kill-Team, that falls when death comes for the Astartes. But recently a number of the Kill-Teams of The Eye of Damocles have suffered an unusually high casualties. Survivors have been far a few between. In fact, rather then try to rebuilt the Kill-Teams around the singular survivors of each, a new Kill-Team has been cobbled together from the survivors of the previously slain squads.

You are all members of the newly formed Kill-Team Orthus.

Veterans of the Deathwatch though you may be, you must now get to know these strangers, and hopefully form a cohesive unit despite the ghosts of your past Kill-Team still fresh in your mind. But they say experience is the best teacher, and Kill-Team Orthus has been given a new mission. An Ork war-band from Charadon has invaded the Imperial world of Allereas. Normally, the Imperial war machine would prepare for yet another clash with the Greenskins. However, an unexpected eddy in the Warp around the system has made any attempt to send in reinforcements impossible. Right before communications with Allereas was lost, the Planetary Governor and the Ordo Xenos Inquisitor assigned to the situation, called for an extraction. They claimed that the capital of Allereas, Kanus, could hold out for maybe a month or two before being completely overrun.

That was three weeks ago.

The Warp eddy has finally dissipated, as it was only a minor disturbance that did not grow to a full Warp Storm. Kill-Team Orthus is charged with extracting the  Planetary Governor, the Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, and any vital intelligence that they may have gathered about the invading Orks. Once brought to safety by Kill-Team Orthus, their charges will help the forces of the Astra Militarum already mustering at the edges of the system in retaking the planet.

Your last missions ended in the slaughter of your Kill-Teams. This mission cannot be a failure. May the Emperor guide you...
