The Transformers: Athenia

The Transformers: Athenia

The planet Athenia was first seen as an unusual, irregular planetary body, resembling nothing so much as a chunk of rock. By the year 2010, however, it had been completely terraformed into a spherical world, approximately the size of Earth. It possesses no particularly strange or unusual geographical features, and is decorated with grassy fields, rivers and mountains, though after terraforming, its sky is a reddish-purple. It does not appear to have any sentient native lifeforms.

Following the extermination of the Hate Plague, the Autobots were able to turn their attention to spreading their peaceful influence through space. The first planet they colonized was Athenia, establishing it as a secondary defense headquarters, with the intent of terraforming it into a new Cybertron. By the year 2011, the planet had been reconstructed from its original form into a spherical body, with two artificial moons, and was part of a space bridge network linked to Cybertron and Earth. The sudden reappearance of the Decepticons put further refurbishments to the planet on hold, and Athenia became a major base of operations in the ensuing conflict.

Athenia became a main headquarters for the Autobot resistance. It proved particularly safe against Decepticon attacks due to its location and a nearby surrounding asteroid belt and was left largely unmolested for the remainder of the open Decepticon conflict, although its connection to Earth was severed when the space bridge on Earth was destroyed, causing feedback that blew up the receptor on Athenia.

Currently, it serves as a travel point between Earth and Cybertron and serves as a mediocre Cybertronian colony, consisting of research facilities, manufacturing operations, and an Autobot military base. The majority of residents are neutrals, made up with production plant laborers, fuel refiners, energon distillers, and merchant warehousing laborers.

The planet also serves as what some call a 'rehabilitation' station for the Autobot army. Conflict is very unlikely to come to Athenia, with the Decepticon forces spread so thin on Earth and other fronts near Cybetron and its moon bases. This means it is ideal for service members who need to readjust or to receive more training in a non-vital environment. Almost all of the Autobots here have been assigned to Athenia because they are not fit to serve on the front lines of battle for one reason or another, be it physical or psychological damage, behavioral or authority issues, or they just simply aren't very good at their functions and require further training. There are, however, researchers, engineers, and scientists who are stationed here because the relative peace of the planet allows research for the Autobot cause to progress without interruption. Autobot High Command considers the Athenian scientific community to be its best chance of fixing Cybertron, if such a thing is even possible.

However, the discovery of a previously unknown element in the chemical make up of Athenia could change the focus on the once peaceful planet. With the armies of both the Autobots and the Decepticons spread so thin across the stars, the tiny force of Decepticon spies stationed on Athenia dubbed expendable by Megatron and the nearly ignored force of miscreant Autobots could become some of the most major players in the war to date.

Welcome to The Transformers: Athenia. This is a free-form game which will focus exclusively around OCs in the Transformers universe. This game will be player driven with story hooks, and based mainly around infiltration, intrigue, and sabotage, though I'm sure giant robots will find a way to blow things up before long. Sure to be a lot of fun! If you like Transformers, check it out!
