GoT A Song of Ice & Fire

Aegon Targaryen, known to history as the Conqueror, invaded and united Westeros. His forces swept across the land, wresting control from the Andal lords, who themselves had conquered the First Men thousands of years ago. The dynasty King Aegon founded lasted for nearly three hundred years. Despite many tumultuous upheavals, including civil wars, uprisings, and rebellions, the Targaryens survived, but all things come to an end.

The Seven Kingdoms are greater than the man seated on the Iron Throne, and these mighty realms have stood since before the Targaryens. They trace their lineage back to the Age of Heroes, when magic permeated the land, dark things crept in the light of the winter moon, and the greatest deeds of mortals were done.

In this world, seasons last for years, not months, and family generations can be traced back for thousands of years to the Age of Heroes. Ancestral weapons may be worth more than a lordling’s only daughter, and castles may have flown a score of banners in their storied histories.

Magic lives mostly in the myths and faded dreams of earlier generations. The learned masters say it died out a lifetime ago, with the last of the dragons, but others say it still exists amongst the magi and warlocks of the exotic eastern lands.

Maester Qyraen the Wanderer "These are interesting times in the Seven Kingdoms. For ages the houses of Dorne and the Reach have fought against each other. Then came Baelor and he boldly engineered a plan to unite these two powerful kingdoms by marrying a Princess of Dorne. With this all eyes of the Seven Kingdoms were drawn to the Marches and the young sons and daughters of the region would forge the future. Even children of minor houses gained recognition as they struggled to bring glory to their houses. However, in the other kingdoms suspicion was deep in the older houses and many refused to acknowledge the Marcher houses. And so, the children of minor houses converge on Kings Landing to exploit this important marriage..."

Some in-site on the group and its starting point, .... we will be recapping the adventure, and we can introduce new PCs.

It is the years 172 after  Aegon's landing and conquest of Westeros.

The reign of King Baelor the Blessed, the Septon King. Baelor was pious and holy man, doing what he thought best to keep the realm at peace. Upon his death, a huge new sept was being built in King's Landing they have recently named the Great Sept of Baelor in his name. Baelor was so religiously zealous that he remains celibate, instead of marrying one of his sisters in Targaryen custom.

Princess Daena Targaryen, also known as Daena the Defiant, is the eldest daughter of King Aegon III. She was the sister-wife of King Baelor I Targaryen, now the lover of King Aegon IV, and mother to Daemon.

Recent events

She has sent word that she will be visiting her extended family, House Velaryon of Driftmark with her two year old
son. So say that the King himself may grace the house with a visit.
