Citizens of Port Loren - A Star Frontiers Campaign

Over the years Starplay Enterprises have built a reputation for being the number one entertainment corporation in the Frontier.  Their corporate tentacles reach into every aspect of the entertainment industry across the entire Frontier.  No system or planet or moon is free of their influence.
Although their headquarters are in Maze, on Minotaur in the Theseus system, their current crowning achievement is a massive immersive entertainment complex on Prenglar in the Gran Quivera system.  250 kilometers from the capital, the privacy of their guests is paramount and Starplay employ a sizeable security force to ensure their resort is not compromised.
Fantasy World is the name of the resort and while initially catering only to the very wealthy, in recent years they have been expanding their target demographic so that the regularly wealthy can now afford to experience at least some parts of the resort.
Positions at Fantasy World are highly sought after, so when the latest advertisements announced vacancies at their flagship resort, there was no shortage of applicants.  This time however Starplay are not looking for hospitality staff or security experts or technical staff.  They are looking for a team of investigators with a very broad set of skills than can work together as a team in a difficult environment.
Interviews for potential candidates will begin in another tenday at their offices above the Holo Theatre in Port Loren and are expected to take an entire tenday.

Citizens of Port Loren - A Star Frontiers Campaign

News reports late this afternoon have confirmed the discovery of the Hepplewhite Inc transport vessel which has crashed in the mountains east of the city of Port Loren.  There were several fatalities among the crew and the rescue party themselves were set upon several times by local fauna during their search and rescue mission.

The Port Loren Zoo has also reportedly sent a team to a nearby location where it seems a huge specimen of the famous Silver Hydra has been located, potentially the largest member of this species on record.  It is rumored the rescue team were also attacked by a flock of the rare, blue-tipped winged rippers.

In other news, the Frontier Football League kicks off again this season with the White Light Knights taking on last years premiers, Madderly's Maulers in the season opener.

Citizens of Port Loren - A Star Frontiers Campaign

Chapter 2.1 Starplay Induction

Date: FY 09.231
Time: 07:00
Location: 5th Floor, Holo Theatre Building, Plaza Drive, Port Loren Central

On the morning of the Starplay Induction Seminar a crowd of hopeful inductees gather outside the Holo Theatre Building in down town Port Loren.  At 6:30am the doors open and Starplay Security guards begin checking ID cards against their lists of applicants.  A number of curious individuals are refused entry for failing to submit applications, including a crew of journalists and holovid camera operators who vainly try to talk their way past the Starplay Security team.  Starplay Enterprises have a reputation for maintaining very tight control of their intellectual property and it seems that reputation is well earned.

The zethra, Hhon, comes under quite a bit of scrutiny from the other applicants as well as the news crew.  Oddly enough, when the news crew approach him/it trying to get an interview, their equipment begins to malfunction and they are stymied by the security personnel when Hhon scrambles toward the front entrance and flashes his ID card.

The foyer of the Holo-theatre quickly fills with potential inductees and once the Security Team complete their check lists, the front entrance is secured and the main theater is opened to begin the seminar.  The theater seats 300 and appears to be approximately one third full for this seminar.

The stage is currently empty apart from a table with a pitcher of water and one glass.

(OOC)
This Star Frontiers Campaign is set between the 1st and 2nd Sathar Wars, we are about to start a new adventure so now is the perfect opportunity for new characters to join the action.  New or Experienced players are welcome to join the team, send your RTJ today :)

Citizens of Port Loren - A Star Frontiers Campaign

(OOC)
This next adventure is a cross over of Classic Star Frontiers and Classic Dungeons & Dragons.  If this sounds like something you might be interested in, send a Request to Join today!

(IC)
The second group seminar at Starplay Enterprises was a very different affair to the cattle call at the first Induction Seminar.  This time the group assembled in a conference room on the 4th floor of the Holo Theater building and in much smaller numbers than previously.
As the various members of the team arrived they were a little surprised to see Hhon, the zethra, seated at one end of the conference table and Mr Anderson at the head of the table, opposite Hhon.
Mr Anderson greeted each member of the group by name and waved then towards the seats,
"Please take any seat and we will get started, I am sure you are all eager to see what lies ahead."  In front of each seat is a datapad.  Mr Anderson activates a display above and behind him that everyone can see is an aerial shot of the Borderlands Entertainment Precinct.
There is what appears to be a castle on top of a hill or mountain on the left side of the screen and a road leading away from the castle both east and west.  To the south of the road is what appears to be mostly swampy terrain, while to the north, for several miles is relatively open grassland, bordered by a forest to the north.  As the road continues east it disappears into the same forest as it spreads across the northern part of the entire precinct and then down across the eastern area of the map.
"As we outlined in the first seminar, the Borderlands complex needs to be fully tested before we allow any paying guests onto the premises.  For this kind of work we always employ outside contractors who have no knowledge or involvement in the design and construction of the facility."
Mr Anderson lays his hands on the table as he continues.
"We are offering this group the contract to Beta test the facility.  We want your reactions to the various packages on offer, test the limits of each package and to run safety diagnostics.  You will not be able to bring any of your personal items, equipment, wepons or even clothing onto the site.
Starplay will provide each of you with the latest advancements in Skien Suit technology."
He activates a control panel at his end of the conference table and a hologram appears in the middle of the table.  It looks like a medieval suit of leather armor.  "As you can see, this looks authentic but it is not leather. This is our latest blend of kevlar fabric and other proprietary materials designed to look like armor of the period but acts like armor from our period."
The hologram changes to display other articles of clothing including wizards and monks robes and traveling clothing for men and women of the same period.  "All these items may look different but they all perform the same way as standard military grade Skien Suits."  Mr Anderson continues.  "You will also be provided with weaponry of the same period.  These are real weapons, not cheap reproductions.  We have also designed medkits, techkits and robcom kits that appear to be standard backpacks, sacks or chests from the same period for those of you who choose to take such equipment with you."
Mr Anderson taps away at the controls in front of him and the holograms disappear and a series of images begin to flash across the screen behind him.
"The Borderlands are populated by a combination of real beings, Starplay Enterprises staff as well as a variety of the latest robotic models.  Some human, some humanoid and some other creatures."  He reaches up to place a hand on either side of his face.  "And I assure you, they appear to be very realistic."  And with that, Mr Anderson removes his face plate to reveal circuits and mechanical apparatus, with a pair of eyes staring back at you all.
"The human staff members will be identifiable by these bracelets."  Mr Anderson produces a bracelet that appears to be made from silver and bears the Starplay Enterprises logo.  "Staff members should be wearing these on their left wrist however they will not openly identify themselves unless there is a potentially dangerous situation."  Mr Anderson slides the bracelet onto his own wrist, holding it up for everyone to see.
"You will not be held liable or charged with damaging any of the robotic units in the Borderlands.  Many of the units have been designed to engage guests in various forms of combat and we have repair facilities to deal with these eventualities."  He explains to the team.
"Once you have been outfitted we will transport you to the main entrance of the precinct.  From there you will make your way by foot to the main accommodations on site.  The Keep.  You will effectively have free reign of the park to explore the various packages we will be offering our paid guests."  The screen stops on the image of a man in full plate armor of the period.  "This is the Castellan of the Keep.  Should you discover any serious issues within the Borderlands precinct, this is who you report to."
Mr Anderson replaces his face plate and continues.
"In the data pads in front of you are details of your remuneration package.  If you are happy with the proposal, simply sign the documents and we will take you to our wardrobe department where you will be measured up for your outfits.   The Beta test will not begin until the end of the month, so you will have plenty of time to get your affairs in order as we do not know how long this process will take."
A quick glance through the data pad shows a very generous package on offer.  100 credits per day, paid monthly into your accounts as well as a series of bonuses for achieving pre-determined objectives within the Borderland precinct.
"Do any of you have any questions?"
