Night's Black Agents (GUMSHOE)

You used to uncover secrets, or maybe kill to keep them. You used to serve your country in the shadows, doing things — or stopping things — that couldn’t be shown in daylight or on the evening news.

Then you stopped. Maybe you got tired or maybe you got burned, or maybe you got
out while you could. But you didn’t go into the daylight. Not just yet. You stayed in the shadows, in Europe’s deniable underground networks of crime and conflict, but you did it on your terms. You did a few ops, and you asked fewer questions. You worked for money in secret accounts, and for people you didn’t know.

Now you've been contacted by one of your regulars with a simple job. A journalist working out in Morocco has got in over her head on a story and someone is out to silence her. Your employer wants her protected and taken to a place of safety. It's easy money in a sunny location; you would be a fool not to take the job!

I'm hoping to get a Night's Black Agents game up and running using the general idea (though not all of the additional bits) from the Dracula Dossier supplements. That means a number of plucky super-spies will be pitted against none other than the walking vampire trope himself – Count Dracula – and the machinations of a connected global conspiracy (or conspiracies).

For those not familiar (firstly, shame on you for it truly is excellent) Night's Black Agents is a variation on the GUMSHOE system and answers the question “what happens when a team of badass secret agents comes up against a global vampire conspiracy?”. The aim of it, or certainly my aim with it, is to have as cinematic an experience as possible with the players racing across the globe (or at least Europe) hunting down the conspiracy through a mix of careful investigation and awesome action set-pieces.

I'm not too bothered if players aren't familiar with Night's Black Agents itself but some knowledge of GUMSHOE would be good. Fortunately, however, the basic GUMSHOE system is freely available through an online SRD and it's really easy to learn.
