Pirates!

If it isn't the way it was, then it's the way it could have been. And as everyone knows, the way it should have been is whatever makes the better story.

I love Pirates. I love the real histories about courageous people from all walks of life, down-on-their-luck and fighting against the immense powers that strove to rule them. I love the mythology that grows from the already incredible stories, adding romance and mystery to the Bold men and women who shaped the history of the Seas.

Almost none of what is written about those freebooting mercenaries is true, but it makes for great stories. It's time for us to write our own stories.

This game will be a love letter to the so-called golden age of pirates. It is not intended to be historically accurate, and indeed every element of it has been reinvented. It will be a tongue-in-cheek satire as much as a genuine tale of romantic fiction. The genre is replete with tropes, many of which will be lampshaded and many of which will be played straight. I will be rewarding players who embrace the genre and its tropes to make a better story.

At first, the campaign will be about tough, brave people fighting the elements and the imperial powers. Gradually, elements of the supernatural will be introduced. Expect to find all manner of strange, wonderful, terrifying things on your voyages.
