A condo, spotlessly clean, sat vacant amidst downtown skyscrapers.  It had been paid for, but no one lived there.  Its only inhabitant, a mysterious black orb five feet in diameter.  Every night it summoned people who had recently died, their new lives were for it to decide.

Toronto, Canada, one of the most multicultural cities in the world, was no stranger to death.  Every day on the news there was another act of violence, a shooting, a stabbing, a fire...  And unbeknown to most people, aliens lived among us.  The Gantz orb had plenty to draw from, and plenty of work to assign them.  When it was dark, when most people slept, that's when it sent its assassins out to rid the Earth of its unwanted visitors.  No one knew how long it had been happening, but for years Gantz had been bringing people to its mysterious room, and not just in Canada, but all over the world.  There was talk on the internet however, rumors abounded.  Many believed it was an operation run by the government to counteract illegal alien immigrants.  Others believed it was a game run by the rich with gambling involved, based on alien technology.  Whatever the case, for those involved there was only one law, survive.  If you survived long enough, you could be set free, but if your blood boiled for the thrill of the hunt, then you could exchange your points for better weapons instead.  Some benevolent souls used their points to revive fallen comrades.  Do you think you have what it takes to survive?  If you wake up in the room, is it better than being dead?  Many strangers suddenly awoke after being seemingly killed, but what really happened?  Was this heaven, or hell?  Some argued while others remained silent.  Blue, green, and red beams shot forth from the orb and traced the path of another body, materializing it right before their eyes.  But who knew what was really going on?  Will you survive long enough to find out?

With this game I want to run a proper roleplay.  I will have some location based threads for players to post in, and maintain a reasonable pace.  I'm using the Battletech system because it's my favorite Ruleset to govern combat and character progression.  But I will prioritise roleplaying and storytelling over rolling dice.  I'm strict on Godmodding and Metagaming.  I will give bonus XP as a reward for excellent writing and roleplaying.  And the players will get to reward each other for their favorite posts.  I hope that this incentive will motivate people in the quality of their writing.  I'm a huge fan of the Gantz universe, and this is my personal take on it.  There won't be any Vampires or Psychics, or the final catastrophe.  There will be mystery for the players to discover.

Battletech is a great system because it's very realistic.  You don't have to be familiar with it to join.  I will do my best to introduce people to the rules gradually if they aren't familiar with it.  I love the way it handles character creation with its Life Path system.  You can basically start at any point in your character's life and gain skills and experience at the expense of years of life.  Then when you start character progression is gradual without using traditional levels.  The combat doesn't use traditional HP, but rather uses hit location damage and injuries.  For example, if you get stabbed in the arm you have to roll for shock, suffer bleeding, and take penalties using your arm based on the severity of the injury.  In my opinion it's a much superior system to just taking damage and being 100% effective until you reach 0 and suddenly dropping.
