Battletech: Black Ops Necessary
In need of a hiatus from my seven-years-long, fairly strictly-military Battletech game during this generally stressful time of life, my players and I have decided to take a break and roflstomp the 3160 galaxy with something less stringent: a smaller, Wraith Squadron-style select group of covert ops cross-trained in both BattleMech and Battlearmor operation, working on behalf of the reformed Terran Republic.
The game is not yet underway, the rest of the players are working through the character creation stage currently, and we have openings for one additional character belonging to an active player interested in joining us. 2-3 posts a week is our accepted average for participation, and while we do not require that all characters like or necessarily respect each other, civility towards other players at all times is required.
This game uses Catalyst Labs 'A Time of War' series of Battletech rules, and while there will obviously be combat, the focus of the game is going to be more on the characters interacting with each other and playing their covert ops' roles through various missions - undercover and otherwise. Battlemech combat will be handled by the GM through MegaMek, but all other combat decisions will be made and handled by the players themselves.
The slot we have remaining is for an experienced military member between the ages of 25 and 29, who will have been initially trained as a Mechwarrior with at least one tour with the Terran Republic Armed Forces (an alternative universe faction) under their belt prior to being selected to join this unit and receiving their cross-training in Battlearmor operation and espionage.
As the Terran Republic is an egalitarian society, the military welcomes all races and genders, with no preference to any one over the others. We strive to maintain as close to an even spread within the game as possible to represent that fact, but well thought-out concepts that fit with the group take precedence. Please do include a basic character concept along with your RTJ, but do not bother with completely building out a character - this game has a specialized creation to reflect the unique nature of the unit. (Note: In keeping with the nature of the unit, Clan concepts are not allowed.)
For any additional questions, please use private messages in the game, and not posts here.
Thank you, and we hope to see you in game!
Edit: Position filled, thank you!
