The Great War ended in Summer of 509, and some semblance of peace had been restored. However, treachery struck not long after the treaty was signed. The black ships fueled by the monstrosities of the dark powers from the south landed on the shores of Maltarik, while her armies were on the continent, helping the goodly realms vanquish the dark tide. It took little effort for the island realm to be subdued, and for Grand Duke Michael Phillip and his family to be put to the sword. The aging knight of Nareal led a valiant defense of his realm, but it was to no avail. Darkness settled over the realm, the people and the land. With the goodly armies tied up on the continent, the island realm was now firmly in the hands of evil forces. The dark powers missed one person in the royal family however, the Grand Duke's youngest daughter, Duchess Melina escaped with help and fled to the continent. She is being sought out for only someone of royal blood can restore the realm, and only royal blood of the family can unlock secrets that will cement the dark powers rule over the land. Can you find her, and help her restore her kingdom before the fell powers do?

There are no drow elves in this setting. All elves, regardless of 'subtype' have the standard racial traits from the Core Rules.
I am not looking for a full character sheet.
I am looking for an idea for your class, race, some backstory, you are 10th level, so you should not have a blank canvas as far as history, past deeds, etc.
Perhaps you were a member of the Grand Duke's royal guard and had to flee, or were imprisoned and managed to escape. Perhaps you're a mercenary looking to make a big payday, perhaps you're an altruistic soul looking to make a difference, anything is possible but at 10th level, that sort of thing should be fleshed out in a background.
The continent just endured a long war that is not even 12 months from being finished, that should play a part as well.
