This game is rated:
ADULT (Violence, horror, and adult encounters may pop up)
Character Level: 0 (Yes, level Zero)
Game Info: D&D 3.5e edition using classless build option.
NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE SYSTEM REQUIRED. GM will create the character for you. Just provide a name and concept.
Ah, the lovely countryside, a peaceful village. The perfect starting point for an adventure. You and your friends have decided to become adventurers at the Adventurer's Guild and become renowned.
Greater Details: Boering Village is nestled in a valley with only one entry point. Tall mountain ranges protect the land from harsh weather, and the climate is usually warm most of the year.
With little danger, most of the occupants are rather laid back. Farmers till the land, while crafters ply their trade. Stories of adventure from beyond seem almost fantastical. Miners collect various ores from the nearby mountains with rich resources aplenty. A nice lake even supplies a variety of fish. While plentiful herbs allow traders to frequent this place. Though the name is apt for the youth of the village. Those with a yearning for those fantastic adventures. Boering Village is indeed boring. A few retired adventurers reside in the village, mainly running the inn where the traders sleep or the infrequent minstrel that is paid in food and drink for the fanciful tales from beyond.
It is within this village that our intrepid adventurers will come from...
Our group will start as level 0 youths (ages 14-15 human years).
- 24 Base Character Points
- 6 from Disadvantages - History (Freebie, who are you and what do you do in the village?), Compulsive (You seek adventure and are not content with life), 3rd one is up to you if you want.
- No duties, no restrictions to start with
- Max ranks must be placed in the background skill with at least one profession (Your apprenticeship)
- Ability Scores will be standard 28 Point-Buy for beginning scores. (You're farmers, carpenters, smiths, not heroes...)
- Concept - You must have one unique aspect, "blessing", "Talent" or something that sets you apart. You are literally being swept up into adventure. Have a goal in mind, but we don't start there.
- Races - Human (+2 to three ability scores, plus Skill points at +2 and a bonus Feat), Half-Elf, Beastfolk (Depends on the version - Feline, Canine, Equine). The option to purchase a template to reflect a latent hidden lineage will be available. However, everything is latent or dormant until 1st level.
While starting options are limited due to the nature of the game, those will lift once exposed to the world upon achieving 1st level.
Level 0 Restrictions:
- Cap on all items (except skills) Level +1 (Warcraft, caster level, etc.)
- No Innate Enchantments or Inherent Spells
- Relics limited to 2 POINTs (This will increase to 6 POINTs at 1st level)
- Talismans and Charms are allowed (3 Talismans, 7 charms for 6 CP)
- No true companions/Familiars/etc.
- The Path of the Dragon is restricted to the 1st tier of Shaping only
- Witchcraft - restricted to level 1+ characters who find a teacher
- Psionics - restricted
Advancement will be CP only and the spend will be on story pursuits (No developing talents/skills without an in-game reason) However, plenty of opportunities to find mentors to open up options will exist.
There are no magic item emporiums. Such magic items are special and should hold meaning. The only exception to the magic item rule would be health potions, which are crafted via special herbs (No XP to create). Background Herbalist will allow a character to craft such potions. Magic item creation is not by gold and XP, but rather by gathering the correct ingredients and rituals (To reinforce the more unique nature of such items, those familiar with 2e might recognize the system).
I will be incorporating Trait pairs, certain trait values will be required to create or use certain items.
All characters will start with a spare change of common clothing, tool(s) for their chosen profession, a backpack, a dagger, and a sling.
Above all else, this is an evolving world concept with player input and patience requested.
