Rory Stouthammer took in a long puff from his pipe and blew out a perfectly formed smoke ring. He used the tip of the pipe to tap the head of the parchment, which read:

"That’s the core of any crew that lasts. And I’m in the business of having my crews last, you understand me? Plenty of outfits out of Trevelle that you can join that don't care none about a balanced crew, but if you want to join one of
my crews, you gotta have the basics. I don't like sending kids out just to get killed to a bunch of basement rats because they didn't have the basics covered. Tarsis ain't forgiving to new crews.
"Fighter. Mage. Thief. Priest." The grey-bearded dwarf stabbed the page with his fat forefinger on each word and then took in another draw from his pipe.
"Once we got all four slots, you'll all pick a name for your crew, and then you get a one-month contract as a trial. You get lodging, food, and the option to take on jobs as they come in." He thumbed over at the large tavern board with several jobs nailed up. "If your crew don't take up at least one job during that month, you're out. But if you do, then you're in."
Rory sat back in his chair, kicking his feet up onto the old wooden desk.
"So, kid. What'll it be?"
So what is this game all about?
I want to do
the classics - a classic group of D&D adventurers using modern game mechanics. This here is Dungeons and Dragons.
Fighter, Mage, Thief, Priest takes place in
Tarsis, a region akin to your classic D&D Fantasy Landscape, on the continent of
Avaren. The land is wild and dangerous, teeming with monsters and bandits, but it's also full of ancient ruins to explore and fabulous treasures to find.
You will be one of the eponymous four: the Fighter, the Mage, the Thief, or the Priest. Your adventures begin in the city of
Kallavan, which is fifty miles due west of
Trevelle, the capital of Tarsis.
So, adventurer. What'll it be?
