Welcome to Novo-Morpork

This is a game set in the satirical Discworld Universe some time (say about 12 years) after the events of Raising Steam, which saw the rise of the Railway. In that time, Young Sam has become an adult, and the Clacks driven Impish Positioning System (IPS) has entered the civilian market. This sparked a new interest in Cartography which is just as much about taking the imps to places and having them paint what's around, then logging that into the Hex, which then relays relevant, questionably useful information through the Clacks.
In any case, not long after the IPS was invented, the Cartographers Guild was founded by Leonard Da Quirm. Leonard arguably had the strongest credentials of anyone having been the inventor of the vehicle known as The Kite, which was used to slingshot under the Disc and back around top to land on Cori Celesti in a last ditch effort to keep the Silver Horde from killing the gods and destroying the world. Leonard's inventiveness prevents him from being much of anything but a figurehead however, and much of the day to day in the Cartographer's Guild was somewhat managed by Young Sam Vimes. In that time, a new Kite voyage was planned and er... undertaken in which the Clacks System would be extended over the rim, and the IPS expanded to include the underside of the Disc.
The Expedition would come into a bit of luck immediately landing near a fishing village on the Rim subsisting on the fish that fell off the edge and got caught in their nets. In short order, The Expedition would assimilate the fishing village into their own culture and reform into the new City of Novo-Morpork, which in short order would be headed by guild masters much like the old city of Ankh Morpork. After all that got sorted out, Novo-Morpork elected Young Sam as their Governor.
The natives of the fishing village for their part, recognized the Morporkians as an ambitious lot, and filled their heads with stories of the dangers and potential riches of the Underside. It's up to the Cartographers Guild to investigate those stories.
