Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

The necromancer looks intrigued, though suspicious. I doubt that, unless you are willing to donate your heart or brains, I am a little short of those at present. What do you think you have to offer me? he scrutinizes you shrewdly. Meanwhile across the room, the corpse seems to be twitching.

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

Stefan notes the twitching corpse and his cheek gives a slight tick, as he steps so he can keep an eye on both the corpse and the necromancer.  He remembered that Raina had said that any undead might feel the need to seek out and kill himself and Raknesh, and he had a feeling it was going to start soon.

Reaching into his bag he pulls out a bag of black powder. "I have.. Less-known components. And I believe this one is right up your alley." He unties the pouch and spreads some of the powder around.

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

The necromancer looks at the black powder and frowns. What is this? he demands. Behind him you see the young girl in her chair look up at him sharply, as though she wants to scold him but thinks better of it. She smooths her features and goes back to reading though the necromancer himself to your surprise looks almost embarrassed a moment before trying to regain his authoritative demeanor. In the meantime the corpse in the corner starts to shake and tremble. Calm yourself! he snaps at the thing, though his words seem to have no effect and it is hard not to be nervous as it increases its activity. The little girl glares at the corpse in irritation and then back at her book in a dogged effort to appear non interested.

Fin tries very hard not to eye the moving corpse, but it's difficult given his recent situation. to help divert his attention, he scrutinizes the little girl and the Necromancer.

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

While the room did look a bit like he expected, the man and the girl didn't really fit with what he had in mind.

Raknesh follows the exchange between Prizzard and the old man, raising an eyebrow at the strange interaction between the girl and the wizard.

But it is the twitching corpse that attracts his attention, and he focus his mind, ready to strike at the first sign of danger.

Prizzard seemed entirely oblivious to the exchange between him and the girl, but had been curious about her book. If the shaking corpse caught his attention, the only tell is a quick glance. He tries to press with the powder again, walking closer. "Surely a necromancer should know what this powder does for undead.. I have plenty more, try it if you want."

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

ooc: Lol, poor clueless Prizzard ;P

Stefan and Fin, as you watch the encounter you wonder if perhaps the supposed necromancer is not as he seems. The girl seems to be the one in power here, much as they both try to hide it...The corpse by now is growing in unrest. The man looks uncertain as Prizzard approaches, perhaps wondering if it isn't some kind of trap. He starts to say something but suddenly the corpse jerks into a sitting position and its eyes pop open. Meanwhile the supposed necromancer seems to be having troubles of his own. He grabs his arm, twitching and contracting, his fingers contorting into unnatural positions. He looks up at Stefan and Raknesh in shock and fury. H-he wants me to k-kill you he growls in a strangled voice. Stop Hamden! the little girl gets up, looking outraged. He does his best to obey but it is clear it won't last long. As the scene intensifies you can hear the sounds of moans approaching from outside. Should you look out the window you will see dozens of corpses, covered in dirt and half rotten, running towards the tower with alarming speed.

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

Stefan snarls in frustration and springs in to motion, not at the undead but at Raknesh!  He grabs the other mans arm and pulls him towards the window.(assuming he doesn't fight me, then we must roll.  trust the druid.)  "We are the problem here, we need to be away, Call us back if she can't get them under control again!"  He looks towards the little girl as he references the necromancer, trying to make sure that everyone sees who has the real power before he pulls his friend with him out the window, the druids skin already growing scaly as he shifts into draconic form, his wings spreading to move the two men marked by death away from their friends, hopefully pulling the undead army away with them.

wild shape to dragon, in which form I can carry Raknesh, unless he weighs an ungodly amount.  As we aren't actually in rounds, I took some thematic liberty, let me know if avoiding this fight is a no go

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

Seeming a bit surprised, he just stands staring at the girl for a moment and the scene takes a few moments to register.. And as Stefan and Raknesh are headed outside, he disregards the undead issue for the moment, but with a thought sends his familiar after them to remind them of the barrier, that they may have to fly very high to get away. He eventually addresses the girl "So.. I have a feeling that's not your original body."

Took a reroll just for fun and..

Seeing the horde of undead flooding towards the tower, Fin goes into action and does what he can to close the doorway into their area. Despite closing the door he immediately looks for a table of other furniture he can use to help plug the doorway.
"We must slow their advance until we can figure this out."

Raknesh doesn't oppose the druid : on the air he will be able to fire at the undeads below without risk.

He just leaves rocky with Halek to relay information and watch over the boy.

"Let's get rid of them"
he yells toward stefan as he materializes his psionic weapon.

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

The girl looks at Prizzard and Stefan in surprise but quickly recovers with a glower. The jig is up now and she seems to own it. Hold down that body fool she snaps at the man who had been pretending to be the necromancer. He is quick to obey, even fearful of the child. No, you assume correctly dark one she sniffs at Prizzard. With those two gone the dead will turn towards them, but it will be awhile before they all get the message that this room has been cleared. She looks approving at Fin's actions. That should protect you for a while against the corpses at least, but there are more devious things to fear here... As if hearing her words, you suddenly hear something rattling at the door that Fin has just barred. Moments later something is sliding underneath it, wriggling towards you. To your disgust it looks like flattened, membranous skin with a mind of its own! That is a skin kite. I would be wary of that if I were you.

Raknesh/Stefan: You are able to make it out of the tower surprisingly, but you do find there is a barrier around the village, making it difficult to go too far. Fortunately it is enough that you have room to maneuver but leaving the city at present is not an option. You look down to discover dozens of creatures and even more wandering your way. Some are simple skeletons, others hulking corpses or liches, and many are fleshly rotted bodies come to life. A long string of them have entered the tower already and more are headed that way. It would seem that they have not yet realized that you have left the building...ooc: If you decide to attack make the appropriate rolls please

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

Stefan nodded in agreement with Raknesh as his transformation finished not in the silvery gleam that he normally took, but into a cruel dusky red color, with wicked looking horns and spikes, and a face that conveyed only rage.  His flight was broader and less exact then normal causing him to arc more broadly.  A glow began to emanate in his chest as steam began to curl from his nostrils.  As he arced he blew forth a cone of flame,  his neck arcing forward to ensure that Raknesh was not caught in the blast of heat.

Not trying to leave, but am looking for a better place for Raknesh and stefan to draw the undead.  short of that, just flying about to keep the undead around and not in the tower.  Breath a 60 foot cone of fire doing  14 damage, DC 15 for half damage

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

Stefan and Raknesh: You both lay waste about you, though in spite of your efforts it seems more dark enemies are on their way. Many of the corpses are down but there are far more nefarious things about. As you turn to ready another attack you see a rotted winged 9 foot tall figure leap into the air towards you... ooc: if you get a knowledge arcane check dc15 you will know it as an angel of decay.

ooc: Next round!

Everyone else: Between Fin and Prizzard (I rolled for you Fin, to save time, hope you don't mind!) the skin kite is fortunately vanquished easily but the girl doesn't seem to care one way or another. I have much nastier things lurking in this tower and they will make short work of that door. her voice is flat. It looks like the only way to preserve my experiments is to help your friends before they destroy everything. But I don't do favors without something in return. Let me see that black powder she holds out her hand forcefully. Should Prizzard oblige she will finally register some shock. Do you know what this is? she gasps. This is made of the essence of the dark goddess herself! The things I could do with such a substance! her eyes are fervent. You have a deal should you still want it. Raina looks a bit uncertain at the exchange but her worry is interrupted by a thunderous pounding on the door. With one blow it has nearly burst already. Ah. That would be Nadred. I suggest you make up your mind quickly, with no control over him we are all as good as corpses and I'm sure at that point we'll all start attacking your friends too. she looks almost amused.

Re: Chapter 5:  Death and Other Things

I'll need a few minutes to gather my supplies, and of course when I am ready you will have to call your friends back. I will need them present. Keep Nadred busy won't you? Kill him if you can, otherwise you may be better off running. I suggest you figure out which tactic is best before long or he won't give you much choice she proceeds to start rummaging around for supplies, bidding the false necromancer to help her. In the meantime Fin's rods seem to hold the door in place and in frustration, the attacker decides to go through the brick wall around the door instead, pushing through the stone in fury. It is a large creature seemingly comprised of various body parts put together and you recognize a few of them. It's as if she's taken the worst undead monsters she could find and made one horrid beast out of them. Fortunately the tower is large enough that you have room to maneuver, though should it come to running it could be difficult to escape.

He seems a bit clumsy with the new weapon, especially during this boost of speed. The first attack is a wild miss as he adjusts to the grip, but the next two are well-aimed. Then between the recently-new gloved, slippery metal handles, and trying to nod to Tanzy to flank, it nearly slips from his hands again.
