Well, the old one is really big and I'm finally getting off my bum and making a second thread like I was supposed to eons ago. So here it is!

So, some planning questions for you all too. I run another game that is 7 years old and I'm finally going to wind that thing down and end it for good sometime this year. It had reached its course and the players are ready for some conclusions to hard fought story lines.

My question is, where do we stand on THIS game? I don't want you to feel like you have to play til we're 80 just to be polite to ME. If people are tiring and want to think about winding things down here in the future, whether that be one year or more, I'm open to whatever makes my players happy. You guys have been awesome to have hung around and I can't tell you how much it means to me!

Also, some of you may have different opinions about this. If someone ever wants a foreseeable end, I can make that happen whenever they're ready. If others, however, want to keep going, I can make that happen too. Everyone is different and I can accommodate a variety of needs. So please, think about your long term goals and let me know what you think would be best for YOU. You can pm me if you're not comfortable addressing it here.

That said, I have not run out of plans or ideas so I can keep going as long as you like me to. Like, years and years probably, hahahahahaha! Seriously. But, if you decide that a conclusion in the future is what you all want, I promise I won't be offended by that either. I'm very laid back in regard to all this.

Lastly, you should be aware that if everything goes the way I hope to and doesn't fall through, I will be going back to college again in about a month. I'm going to be craaaaaaazy busy, but I will still make time for you guys. If my posts are less than glorious or have to drop down to once a week, I hope you understand. I'll try my hardest though! You guys deserve that much!

I don't like not knowing the end of a book I started reading ^^

I know we hardly know each other and it’s just a game but I’m pretty sure there will be an empty spot in my heart when we eventually end. That said I’m happy to keep playing for as long as everyone else and the GM allows. And who knows maybe when we do inevitably end we can talk her into starting another one?!

How about we just go til it reaches its natural end then? We can re-evaluate then. Honestly, that will still take years at the rate I post, lol. I think you have 2 or 3 temples done and you still have a few to go, plus more story arch stuff on top of that. So estimating everything I'd guess....maybe 4-6 more years til this thing plays out the way I planned? Barring unforeseen detours. The Tanzy dying thing took us a year off course, believe it or not. But I actually really loved it! It ended up being some of my favorite stuff. So this could really stretch a while.

But when it does finally end, we have the option of moving on to other adventures with the same characters or we can rest and start up a new game, we definitely have options and I adore you guys so I'm happy to play with you til the end of time. You are stellar players and so loyal. I can't believe how lucky I am to have such dedicated people to play with. Thank you!

Now, I'm probably going to have to post a bit later this afternoon. I've got to get ready to do crap and I ran out of time but you can expect a post from me soon.

I feel like we'll hit 20 years before it's done, and by then I have a feeling our characters will have had enough adventure for one lifetime unless something world-threatening happens again.

What I'm moat surprised about is that we haven't had any non-scripted character losses with how many close calls there have been.

When do we level up?

Yeah, definitely surprised about that. Though Tanzy dying was certainly not planned, lol. So I guess that counts?

And Bryon, we'll level up after this encounter. I think it's time :)

Eh, I thought it was an impromptu decision, still not a bad dice roll. It was meant to be a wholly non-lethal subjugation of the siren, and I didn't know the potency of the powder. That was easily the most shocking thing I've had happen in a game and top 3 for character trauma. Yikes! I have to admit it was an excellent twist and turned into a genius move with all we had to go though on that 'side quest'.

Is target near a wall?

Lol! I'm so happy to have traumatized you Prizzard! Mwahahahahahaha! It was probably my favorite moment of the entire game so far. So it's funny how unplanned things can turn out to be even better sometimes!

Also, sorry Bryon, I forgot something I needed to post. If and when he goes back to his spot though, he will be about 5 feet from a wall behind him. So if Prizzard gets through with him and he sits back down, that is where he'll be.

Just giving everyone else a chance to post intentions, but I'll move things along tomorrow or Friday one way or the other.

Also, it looks like I'm officially starting college again on March 1st, barring anything catastrophic. The college I'm doing is online, and you pay per semester, not credit. So, I'm going to be stupid and try to cram my bachelor's degree within 6 months...I already have my associate's but that's still 29 classes to complete by then. Yikes. It can be done, others have done it, and I'm going to give it my very best. So, consequently, I'm only going to be posting on my games once a week instead of 2. It won't be that much different, but I wanted to give you a head's up! :D

I'm probably going to start this once a week thing now, since I only have a few weeks to get my crap together. We're also going to try to move this year if we can at all find a house worth moving into. Inventory here is historically low, so it's stressful. I think this will be the year I have my first panic attack! So I apologize in advance if on occasion I have to flake. I'm hoping to be done within my timeline, but I won't beat myself up too much if it takes longer. Wish me luck....

In the party area there's no chaos, I believe. So Raknesh might want to hold off?

After all he only knows you managed to 'extract' the target and she might cause some trouble for you.

Sigh. I've been doing a lot of digital art lately via mouse and I think mine is starting to tank. I nearly lost my whole post I did because it's on the fritz. So if I missed something or forgot something or the map isn't perfect, I apologize. I just had a mini heart attack because it posted it before I had a chance to look over it but I was 90 percent sure it had just deleted it and now I need to go lay down for half an hour and rethink my life choices because I'm pretty sure my life flashed before my eyes.

Lol I use my phone to post because I’m too lazy to boot up the laptop. Sometimes if I swipe wrong the whole page just vanishes. That alone is devastating! I can’t imagine loosing a post as big as you do! :O

I've become pretty used to doing this on my phone. The laptop is still easier of course, but I do most of my posting at work.

Ok! Sorry for the delay and if I missed anything/anyone important. My schedule is nuts lately. School started last week and I already completed two classes. That's supposedly 3 months of work crammed into 7 days, so needless to say I don't have a lot of free time these days. So thanks in advance for your patience. I'm hoping to whip through this thing as fast as humanly possible and then get back to my old schedule of twice a week once I graduate.

Speaking of awful, my next 3 classes are all spreadsheets and algebra and accounting and things that make me want to shrivel up and die. I've canceled a lot of my real life stuff for the next week or two so I can try to bust through this but it's been really hard because math is not my thing. Luckily my husband has been helping me, but I expect to be walking through pure and utter hell til they are done. So I'm unable to post for the next week or two but after that I should be good to resume. I'm so sorry guys. Even my husband thinks these classes are ridiculous and he's a whiz at them.

The goal is for me to probably start posting Saturday nights for a bit. Seems to be when I'll have the most time! I'm making good progress through the courses though. My awful accounting classes seem to be behind me for now, so ideally I'll start doing weekly posts and in a couple months I can hopefully pick up the pace again. Yay!

He was so distracted by holding up the act that he forgot Nylok fled already and would not be here to kill Stalten. As brutal as Prizzard often is, he's not at all a fan of unnecessary suffering or death. Feel free to ask questions!

Such as why he doesn't flee a stranger blocking his path. Well for a long time it was most likely somebody after his bounty and prepared to deal with some of his known tricks. It's often a kill or be killed existence. Stalten didn't provide this excuse or any other.

I'm going to hope Prizzard fails his spot check on that scene, as hard as that would be. Killing guards to escape is understandable. Slaughter for slaughter sake, especially of the innocent? I'm pretty sure Prizzard isn't the only one who takes an issue with it, but he's just fool enough to fight the man. Perhaps even fool enough to attack with his scythe if the rapier isn't somewhere easy to reach.

Same. Tanzy already doesn’t like Nylock and wouldn’t hesitate to take him out even if it put them in bad graces with the assassin lady (I’m drawing a blank on her name) Tanzy only has daggers but she’d still try to put a stop to it.

It's true it's more than just killing a guard to flee...

But there are two main questions to answer.

- would we be able to kill him without him doing the same for at least one of us?

- Do we have time do to so?

Raknesh doesn't like what he did, not at all, and, should the occasion present itself, he would fully agree to give the man the justice he deserve.

But now might not be the same.

So unless the others start to fight, he won't go after him.

I think Tanzy and Prizzard are blissfully unaware at the moment so unless someone brings it up Tanzy is heading for the nearest exit

Byron seems to catch a lot of bad luck. Who is your patron and how did you piss them off?

I did ask myself these rather important questions, and then I considered it from Prizzards perspective. He'll fight the man alone. He might even fight him bare-handed without magic. This bit of morality is supported by multiple previous traumas so if he believes he can win and escape if he doesn't, he'll get stupid before letting the innocents die.

Sorry I've been MIA as of late. School is kicking my booty. That said, I'm kicking school's booty right back! I just have six classes left, 22 classes already completed. I am hoping to be done by mid July for good and then I'll be back to normal and freeeeeeeeeeee!!! I was going to post today but I ended up not feeling well, so I'm hoping to slip a post in sometime in the next few days. Thank you all for being so patient with me. I've had to put aside a lot of the things I love due to this whole endeavor, and I'm so looking forward to getting my life back again.

Ok, I'm really really hoping to be graduated by July 19th. That's not long at all. Maybe sooner if I have my way. So if you are all good to be patient with me, I'm almost free and I can go back to posting regularly soon. I am beyond excited to get my life back. Seriously.

What are a few days or even weeks when we have played for so long?

Got a new kitten and it died unexpectedly. Mother in law diagnosed with breast cancer, they think it’s early stages but need to pass one last test to be sure, and I’m behind on school but almost done. Life has been rough lately. I’ll be back in a week or two though.

Thanks for your patience everyone. Life kicked me in the face a bit but I'm crawling back from it. My mother in law has surgery in a couple weeks and if the biopsies look good she'll be in the clear.

As for school, I graduated about a week ago. Did 2+ years of work in 4 months, 21 days. It felt like sooooo much longer. But it's done. I have a lot more to do and learn on my own before I can get a job in the field I want, but at least I don't have deadlines breathing down my neck. I'm going to try to get back into posting twice a week now. Thank you eternally for your patience and support. You're awesome.

So, looking back on the rules from a million years ago, I realized two things: First, gosh I used to be strict! hahahaha! That no swearing thing is particularly amusing considering I have loosened up on that in real life!

Second, it has always been my rule that two natural 20s in a row is a quick kill, or, to be fair, it's a -9. Since the other arrows hit too, however, Nylok is well and thoroughly dead. In all my years GMing, I've rarely run across 2 nat 20s. The only time I've had it happen on RPOL was me rolling against a player. That turned out interesting. So, long story short, well done Raknesh! You just kicked some major booty.

Nice! I live how Raknesh originally wanted to get the hell outta there and forget Nylock. And then is like “okay but let’s make this fast!” :D

Do dead bodies count as creatures? Important question since only creatures can benefit from Flees The Scene.

Undead and constructs are considered creatures, I'd consider a freshly dead creature to still have enough living matter to be a creature with the status of Dead for a while until it becomes an object, similar to how Revivify has a short window to work on the recently-dead.

Okay so everyone in the group is fairly familiar with Tanzy’s background. She’s not one to over share but she made no secret that a well known Lord Graystone was responsible for her brother and fathers deaths. He intended to kill her as well which is why she ran away and changed her identity. That was over ten years ago.The lord himself is fairly well known with a decent amount of power, even more so than Stalten was. Now it would seem in an ironic twist of fate (thanks to the gm!) her mom is marrying the Cad! Tanzy isn’t interested in returning to her noble life but she’ll be damned if she lets Graystone marry her mother.

Prizzard has separate but similarly important stuff to take care of at the wedding. Hopefully he can be done in time for the finale event.

Just need some rolls from everyone and plans for those who are going after the bride. Do you plan to just grab her and book it? Have a cover story? Make any appropriate rolls then.

Recently had to read back to figure out the names of Tanzy’s family members (it’s been so long I forgot) and jeez! How is everyone not mentally scarred from all the stuff our characters have been through!?!

My Christmas week was stressful and busy and I'm completely blah right now. I've literally just been playing Horizon Zero Dawn all week and eating hot pockets. I'm going to just laze out and give myself a break for the rest of the year (lol, such as it is) because honestly, 2021 was not great and I want to end it with as little physical movement as possible! I'll be back and ready to kick butt next week though. A gal can only live on hot pockets and inactivity for so long, after all.

Sorry I haven’t posted sooner! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday. I was just bragging to a co worker about how long this game has lasted. I’m very thankful to still be playing with everyone!

Somehow both productive and restful. Probably the best holiday I've had in years.

Raknesh can communicate with Rocky all the time as long as they are no more than 1 mile away from each other.

That sucks! The kitty is doing better! She has a dental vet consult on Tuesday that I am dreading, but at least she's acting normal again.

So here's the dealio:

We've been working on selling our house and buying a new one for months now. It's been a nightmare. We finally closed on selling our house last week and we had our dream home lined up to close on the 25th of this month. It was a gorgeous cabin in the woods with 2 acres, a creek, trees trees and more trees, everything we've been dreaming of and it was HARD to find it. It took so much bartering and haggling and work but we had a deal and we were set to have it finalized and be our forever home.

Cue last week. On my birthday, actually. Yay.

We found out there is a boundary dispute that they didn't tell us about. They played it off as nothing at first and we warily asked for more information. They admitted that they're actually being sued by their neighbor because she wants the boundaries redrawn and thinks she's owed more land even though there is no earthly justification for this. She refuses to even pay for the land she wants. She just expects it for free. So needless to say, it's a giant mess. We met with the sellers and the neighbor to try to work things out but the neighbor is stubborn and there's something majorly off about her. So we are withdrawing and now don't have anywhere to live. We have to be out of our current house in 2 weeks so we're scrambling to find a rental and everything is a giant mess. I've honestly never been more stressed in my entire life.

So, needless to say, my posting shall be sporadic. I'm sure by mid August things will settle down. They kind of have to! And I'll still try to post here as much as I can, but I'm giving you a heads up on my flakiness now so you don't think I've forgotten you guys!

We fought a lich-who was Tanzy's almost step dad who had her father killed years ago. Turns out her brother (who also died) was brought back as an undead person by the lich and now that the lich has died he's also dying, completely unaware that he's not in fact the real brother at all, but just an undead replica. So it's rather sad!

Also, haven't forgotten you guys. Just waiting on a post or so and I'll move things along. We're probably gonna wrap up this chapter soon so I'd love to know what your plans are after this family saga ends. I assume it's back to finding the temples? If your characters have plans to pursue anything in the meantime, let me know so you don't miss your opportunities!

It seems like busyness is going around these days. I'm in no rush at all, we've been at this for over a decade, after all! So if you would like, we can always pause the game for a month or two, til people's schedules get better? It's a busy time of year and maybe picking up in the summer would be more convenient? Whatever people want, I'm down with. I'm quite flexible!

Oddly I have more time when I'm broke, injures, sick, hospitalized, etc. I have the least free time when everything is going well. And even then 15 minutes isn't an issue.

But then.. I don't have kids.

Lol, that's so relatable! I don't have kids either so I can't imagine how people with them balance everything too. Lately, I've been getting a new career going, so I'm less nudgy about people posting than usual. Plus, everyone else seems really busy too. I'm thinking maybe we should take a pause til this summer? It's not far off and maybe we can regroup at that point?

Much has happened since the last level-up. That was right before we fought our way through a mummy to free Raina, barge into the throneroom, and beat up a pit fiend.

Loved it. I was so concerned it would be another straight comedy like the vast majority of LARP/D&D productions, so glad they made it a real movie.

They nailed the characters (the paladin !!)  and the hints to the "connaisseurs".

I especially liked the little D&D cartoon cameo ^^

It has been more than 6 months since Byron last looked at this game so it may well be down to Raknesh, Tanzy, and myself. How is everybody?

Currently enjoying the last days of holidays before starting school again ^^

Trying to buy a house that also needs major remodeling. I might just be stupid.

The rest of my life is a bit horrible. I got on meds for my brain tumor but I started experiencing some vision loss. It was very scary. I was taken off them and I’m going to the ophthalmologist Monday to see what my vision is doing. Then I might get put on other meds but if I don’t do well on them I may need brain surgery. If the meds work though there’s a good chance my life will finally get back to normal! I’ll know where I stand in a month or so.

It's been a month or so, how's all of that going?

Crossing fingers, but so far so good as far as my meds go! Side effects aren't as severe as last time and I find out end of October if they're working to shrink the tumor. So yay! I'm also supposed to close on the new house today, unless something heinous happens.

Here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna write in my to do notebook to post on this game in 2 weeks, that way I'll actually remember. So if people feel like they'll be up to getting this thing started again, that's great. If you're all as busy as I've been, however, I understand if you want to wait a bit longer. Just give me an idea of what the group wants and I'll go from there. I'm just happy things have hopefully calmed down a bit for me.

I'm always good to go. Still no good idea how to deal with the golems, but ready to try.

Update: House renovations are killing me. Between that and the upcoming holidays, I say we start fresh in February. What I want to know, however, is what everyone else's availability is like. I've already counted out Bryon. I know Tanzy is good for it and I suspect so is Prizzard. If Raknesh is too busy we can always just put his character aside and he can come back anytime he wants from there.

I do want to apologize. This year has been an absolute nightmare. I call it the year I disappeared. I have become a hermit, I hardly even see my own family anymore and I skip social gatherings completely. I no longer care about anything, not even my old hobbies or things that used to make me happy. My anxiety is out of control. I wake up in the middle of the night with racing thoughts and stress so I don't even sleep well anymore. I have daily migraines, many of them ocular so my eyes hurt all the time and it affects my vision. Because of my pituitary tumor my hormones are all over the place and though I have improved there, it still gives me brain fog and makes me incredibly exhausted. On top of that, add a fixer upper house project where I'm trying to coordinate and juggle five different contractors...sheesh.

I'm still here. I still want to do this. But I think I'll wait til my real life demands ease up a bit. We're hoping to finish and move into the place by February so I'm really counting on life calming down by then. At that point, we can pick this puppy up and hopefully I can start doing things I enjoy again. I kind of fell apart this year and I'm sorry it's affected the game too.

The only situation in which I see myself having difficulty attending your wonderful game is a coma. Aside from the obvious/unlikely such as the wholesale failure of internet infrastructure.

Update! House renovation went to heck. Carbon monoxide leak meant replacing the entire furnace plus a bunch of other delays and expenses. It’s been 5 months and we still haven’t moved in! Closing in on it though.

Also my aunt went to hospice and died. I’m the lucky one who went to visit and found her dead. A bit traumatic honestly.

Brain tumor has barely shrunk after months of treatment so I get to stay on these horrible meds another YEAR and they make me feel crazy! Anyway, long story short, I’m still planning on coming back. It will probably just be May if that’s ok? 2024 has been rough already.
