Albrecht was raising his pistol again, ready to put the last thrall down like he had the other, but at the last moment he hesistated. After several seconds of silently having he man in his sights, he slowly lowered his gun and spoke up once more.

"Tell me, what's your name? Where are you from?"

"Well Kyousuke-kun, here is the deal : you were enslaved by a titanspawn and therefore I cannot in good concience risk letting you loose."

He then sighed audibly and continued.

"By all rights I should just put a bullet between your eyes, but I'm a hopeless sentimentalist. Therefore you will follow me while I go kill the Oni. Once he is dead, I will employ you as an aide until I am certain that it is safe to let you go your own way."

Albrecht then extended his right arm to help the thrall to his feet.

"I am Oberst Albrecht von und zu Leoburg."

Re: A prince in exile
(OOC : You're assuming Albrecht is even interested in keeping it instead of dumping it down the nearest storm drain.)

Looking unto the bloated Jotun he was facing, Albrecht could not repress a look of condescending disgust, his sword in hand since before he entered the titanspawns' lair.

"I presume you are Mikaboshi? Wash your neck."

With that clear declaration that the Oni's death was at hand, some kind of liquid metal oozed from all his pores, covering the scion and his gear in a steel-color sheate of nearly indestructible metal.

And then, with a mocking smirk on his face, he invited the Oni to attack.(Like Neo did in his spar against Morpheus in the first Matrix movie, if you remember that scene)

Re: A prince in exile
<OOC : So zero damage to my guy after figuring everything out. Not bad.>

As the Oni charged, the full fury of the Oni was impossible to avoid, even with entire might of his warrior legend behind him as he tried to avoid the blow, earning him a solid tetsubo hit to the side of the head that would have pulverized a lesser scion, while at the same time stabbing forth with his blade, biting deep into the Ogre's bloated belly.

Neither combattant was hampered by their wounds, although while Albrecht barely felt the Oni's blow, his opponent was not as lucky.
Taking advantage of his much faster speed, the son of Odin once again struck, this time with reckless abandon, confident that he would return to his more effective guard by the time his opponent was ready to strike once more, inflicting some serious wounds as well as a number of superficial fleshwounds.

When they both struck at the same instant once more, Albrecht's attack failed to do any real damage to his foe.

Re: A prince in exile
The Ogre's evil laughter was mirrored by a mocking laughter of his own.

"You know, that expression means that the third one is gonna succeed. Besides, I stopped counting the number of scions I killed after my first dozen."

The series of slashed Von Leoburg sent towards the Giant while it had its back turned failed to penetrate the being's thick skin, so as his opponent came around for another swing, Albrecht lunged and successfully stabbed him in the hamstrings.

23:44, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 48 using 9d10 with rolls of 7,3,1,8,4,8,10,2,5. Smack Number one!
23:44, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 31 using 5d10 with rolls of 10,5,4,9,3. Smack Numba 2.
23:45, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 51 using 11d10 with rolls of 4,8,4,8,3,4,9,1,6,3,1. Damage 1.
23:45, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 46 using 10d10 with rolls of 5,2,2,4,9,8,10,2,3,1. Damage 2.
The sound every veteran World of Tanks knows and dreads : "We just dinged them!"

23:46, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 44 using 9d10 with rolls of 7,8,1,7,5,1,8,5,2. Another mutual smackdown.
23:46, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 74 using 10d10 with rolls of 7,9,6,8,9,5,9,3,10,8. Damage.
Once again 11 total successes, so 4 more health levels lost, brining the Oni to 11 health levels lost, which translated to -2 for the bugger.
Since the blows are simultaneous he only suffers from the -1 from before those four extra wounds this time.

Re: A prince in exile
Albrecht was getting frustrated by this fight. Not by how dangerous it was, but by how tedious it was to defeat the Oni - a regular Jotun would have keeled over long ago, but it seemed that the Japanese variation was too stupid to die, which he felt was more and more accurate as the giant shrugged off a vicious blow to the chest that must have punctured a lung at the very least.

20:09, Tue 26 Nov: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 1 success using 9d10 with the White Wolf Exalted system with a target of 7 with rolls of 4,5,9,2,4,3,6,6,6. Let's Get this over with 1.
20:10, Tue 26 Nov: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 3 successes using 5d10 with the White Wolf Exalted system with a target of 7 with rolls of 6,9,5,8,8. Let's Get this over with 2.
20:11, Tue 26 Nov: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 48 using 11d10 with rolls of 5,4,5,2,2,7,5,7,5,5,1. Damage 1.
20:11, Tue 26 Nov: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 68 using 9d10 with rolls of 10,8,9,1,6,8,10,6,10. Damage 2.

And... the oni only has its Incapacitated health level left!

20:13, Tue 26 Nov: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 5 successes using 9d10 with the White Wolf Exalted system with a target of 7 with rolls of 3,1,3,10,8,5,4,8,8. One last showdown?
20:13, Tue 26 Nov: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 54 using 11d10 with rolls of 2,4,4,1,6,5,6,7,9,5,5. Damage.

Re: A prince in exile
Deciding that this had taken far too long, Albrecht expertly dodged the Oni's next attack, stepping through his foe's guard and, leaving aside all notion of warrior honor, delivered a fierce upward blow, right below the belt.

12:58, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 5 successes using 9d10 with the White Wolf Exalted system with a target of 7. Stab!
12:58, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 2 successes using 5d10 with the White Wolf Exalted system with a target of 7. Revenge of the Stab!
12:58, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 62 using 11d10 with rolls of 5,8,7,2,10,1,8,1,9,7,4. Damage.
2:59, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 44 using 9d10 with rolls of 1,10,8,7,2,5,2,3,6. Needless Damage Roll.

And he lost his last health levels and is into dying territory!

Seeing his opponent collapse into a wimpering mess slowly emptying itself of its blood, the Scion planted his sword into the ground as he reached for a flask at his side containing his favorite Schnapps and took a swig from it as he contemplated where to put the Oni's stuffed and mounted head.

Once the flask was back on his belt, he picked up his sword and walked over to the dying jotun and with a kick to its side turned it so that it was on its back in order to make decapitation easier. And easy it was, as after a few seconds of concentration he severed the dreaded titanspawn's neck between to vertebrae.

Picking up the head he passed it to Kyousuke like one would would pass a ball.

"Catch. Hold onto this while I take care of a few things."

He then proceeded to the disgusting task of recolting some of the Jotun's eitr in a field canteen. He typically traded the eitr to other scions as he didn't like the dampening effect it had on his mental abilities, but even though he knew no one around here willing to acquire this foul substance, he prefered not to waste it.

OOC : Basically he's collecting the eitr, and will bring back the head and the tetsubo as both proof and trophies.

Albrecht smiled sadly at the young man.

"Like I said, I am going to keep an eye on you for a while until I'm certain I can let you go safely. After all, while becoming a Thrall makes you stronger, it can make you quite dangerous too. The berserkers that result from humans being fed the blood of Germanic gods or their progeny tend to suffer from the same problems, which is why I never learned to infuse my blood with those properties."

He then walked over to Kyousuke and - after wiping the blood off with a rag - put his hands on the former thrall's shoulders.

"The world is a mysterious place with many dark corners thankfully hidden from the eyes of the common man. I hope to be able to send you on your way soon, before you are further entangled into the messes of my kin and our foes. By the way, would you need anything to help you with returning to a normal life? Money? A recommendation?"

He pauses "Both could help, I suppose, but what I really need is healing, my family wasnt... very functional... and having been here Ive seen things" shudders "done things, I dont even trust myself anymore"

shudders "Ever since I tasted the things blood, My mind has been in a fuzzy animalistic haze... Can you make it go away?"

(OOC: You can if you advance to godhood and buy 10 dots in Jotunblut... or simply PETITION a god with that much Jotunblut and ask them super nicely. Requesting the Absolution of even a Penitent thrall is probaly not something you want to ask all on its own, but as a rider to more pressing business, if you want my advice?)

Albrecht shook his head sadly.

"I cannot, in fact only a powerful God can fully cure you. I could probably squeeze your cure amongst other request when I get an assignment by some of my... relatives. In the worst case scenario, I could learn the divine equivalent of the Oni's binding ritual - an imperfect solution at best though. But first, let me try something to understand your affliction in more detail."

He then placed his right hand on Kyousuke's brow as he concentrated on the gift of understand given to him by his divine blood - the small booklet bound in human skin hidden within one of his pockets shining in a ghastly light.

17:06, Today: Albrecht von u. zu Leoburg rolled 3 successes using 6d10 with the White Wolf Exalted system with a target of 7. Mystery + 4 successes.
I use the legend thingy to boost the result by (legend) successes.
Basically I'm using the mystery purview to try to determine Kyousuke's virtues(as a thrall or berserker that has not been bound for long can keep its old virtues, and some thralls was Aesir virtues instead of Dark Virtues) and his likeliness of being a danger if Albrecht let him go.

Hes got Aesir virtues but all at 1 dot, as he cant practice them very well here, and hes not very malicious or very kind.
hat this point just wants to be rid of his strange affliction and to go home.embrace his mother and to try forgetting things he saw.
