Re: Talking to the Coach

Jarrod just threw his helmet at the ground, staring at Sims, not even caring on what Steele was doing or looking at him. 'Then its gunna be yer head if he gets injured there too and we don't even have a quarterback for t'a whole season! Was all the big man said before walking off in his own frustration.

In reply to Jarrod Thompson (msg # 8):

Eve sauntered by noting the impetulant display That won't help in the least she thought knowing first hand what antics like that will do to any form of Coach. Crouching down she retrieved his helmet Did you drop this Jarrod she prompted rising and handing it to him along with what she hoped to be a calming smile.

Sims  Simply turned away,..Son?..That's  why i wear the headset..and you wear the Helmet....

The rumbles were going through the stands  as the crowd  saw Steele  throwing to Mik, and Adam catching  Mik's throw and handing him the ball.

words like  'Bronk?"...."Steele?"...could be  picked out of the uneasy crowd...

Re: Talking to the Coach

Wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed but even he knew if this game was a blow-out, there was going to be some head-hunting. The risk of losing another Quarter-back could spell disaster but if people were not willing to give the Louisiana native a chance? Then it will be on them, and if someone else got hurt? Jarrod was going to do nothing more then watch this time around.

No one bothered to check into his own history it seems, least not the coach. Sure he didn't have any full on training in the position, but if they were going on terms of when they were walking? Jarrod was filling any position he could to make an honest living in the sport since he'd been walking, high school didn't even have enough for a full-fledged team yet he took his chance playing any position just to give them a shot.. WR, DB.. Linebacker.. Even did a few balls under center, but they were mainly running plays.

He couldn't let that continue to get to him, and that was when he heard the voice of a familiar female calling out his name. Head turned to notice the helmet was being handed to him, looking down at it, his hand reaching out to take it from Eve. "Ya I dropped it... Thank ya Miss Eve." Was all he replied with, doing his best to at least try and be a little respectful.

Eve nodded then rejoined the Squad, who were about to start another Dragonette routine aimed at enticing the Croud and distracting them from the Player injuries while the situation was attended to.

Re: Talking to the Coach

Luke stood still seeing Duke slammed by the guy that he failed to block.  It took one of his own linemen to sway him out of his daze and head back to the sideline.  He fell and slumped himself on a bench.  When one of the waterboys/girls came up to him, he didn’t even look up.  He was ashamed, but more so was worried over his fallen friend.

He’d over heard the conversation between Jarrod, Sims, and then Steele warming up to take the field.  He wondered if he slinked off the field and to the locker rooms if anyone would notice his absence.

Re: Talking to the Coach

The Dragonettes had taken a quick water break themselves when they all paused and the crowd quieted the entire arena.  Celeste and the girls looked between each other in shock.  They would definitely need to be getting the crowd behind Steele.  He may not be the best choice, but he was their only option right now.

Lu-Ti had gotten her group huddled together and Celeste, Sasha and their group finished up their drinks before they huddled together to come up with a game plan.

We've got to get this New Jacksonville crowd behind and supportive of Steele.  We all know how he can be, but this is for the TEAM...not him as a person.

Celeste ran towards their bench and began shuffling through boards with letters on them and getting enough letters for Lu-Ti's group and her own group that spelled out Steele.

Sasha, Eve…roll a d100 if you are cheering to get the crowd behind Steele.  We’ve got a lot to work towards.

After getting some water and hearing the instructions from Celeste, Sasha nodded.  Personally she didn't know how Steele could be since she barely knew him, but she knew her job and that was more than enough.  She moved back into formation and took a sign offered by Celeste before going to work.

if the Crowd was Bummed before?...the 76 yard  TD pass really slapped the down..the Steeler fans who manged to get  most of them  in either the   north  endzone ( the Endzone with out the  twin dragons) and  about the  30 yard line on the steelers sideline...some of them were doing a Mockery of the Dragon Stomp.

Re: Talking to the Coach

Though the Steeler fans were putting on quite a show in the stands and the players were taunting them into acting out, the Dragonettes were gathering their cahoonas and going to be putting on a show just as good if not better than how the fans were acting out.  With the girls and their letters spelled out correctly for Steele and ready to show off their skills.  Celeste directed them into a triangle formed routine and looked to Eve.

This is the stuff that I’m made of, she said.  I love working under pressure.

The girls started out cheering at a room volume starting with S -T–E-E-L-E  and ending the change with a louder Dragons!.  They raised their volume a decimal and continued making the Dragons always louder than the letters being chanted.  The crowd in front of them had originally been focused on the change up of players but their attentions were redirected to the Dragonettes and what they were saying.  The roar of the Steelers in the stans made it nearly inaudible.  Though the louder they got, the better the chant carried throughout the stadium.  It had a rhythmic melody to it as they forced and enunciated the Dragons loud and harsh.

Each girl with a letter of Steele’s name raised their letter with the letter being chanted and brought it down when they roared Dragons.  Celeste prompted each letter and then raised her fists in the air with the roar of Dragons echoing around her.

Bronk's  CAtch and  gain of  24  drew  some Cheers, and helped to get popel to pay attention again..some were trying to shout with the Dragonettes.

Re: Talking to the Coach

Sims Folowed the Team down as  far as he could, Stalls  right next to him...Smokey had the Headset on and was doing the Board, Until Steele's run. The Smokey went to hold the ball for Tali to practice  kicking into the net..

Nevers took the Clipboard  and  using his own  headset, Looked at Sims, as  Stalls   waited  eagerly to get in.

Seems to have lost his focus..can't have that out there...maybe a rest will do him good...

Nevers nodded  and  shrugged as they watched the next play

Re: Talking to the Coach

The Crowd  was  now  warming up to Steele, since he had not screwed up, or showed  any 'deva' complex  yet

Duke  , with hat on ,bill facing  front, with the headphones on, next to Sims..they were both looking at the  charted plays so far as   Duke wrote them down.

Lewis got the Defense together, they were lookin gat the Poleroids from the last drive..the DB Coach  was holing the dry-earse board with  a Defensive formation on, as  Lewis...in a very angry way...was pointing out what they need to look out for,

....with Duke on the headphones, Smokey went to the nets  and held the  ball for  Tali to practice  some kicks..., as long as they don't  give th eball away, she would be kicking  ...one way or the other.

Re: Talking to the Coach

Celeste was feeling good about this.  Everything was definitely looking up for the Dragons, and the crowd was giving Steele the benefit of the doubt.  She had to make sure that the Dragonettes supported him as much as the players were.

Moving onto a more offensive stance cheer, they then switched to trotting over and mocking the Steeler cheerleaders.  Celeste would often check to make sure that the girls were in line and standing proud cheering with their all.

Her own attention would often switch to the guys on the side lines and on the field keeping an eye out for everything going on and leading the girls on with the cheers with Eve prompting them between chants.

OOC Roll for those cheering.

Eve did what she could to add to the offensive stance cheer; joining in when the Squad trotted around the end-zone to mock the Steeler cheerleaders. Returning with almost cheeky satisfaction to the opposite side of the field to initiate one of the squads revised cheers.

Luke gave a quiet nod and watched as Harry worked his magic.  With a bit of help from the trainers, he walked over the bench where he could watch the rest of the game unfold...his leg propped up on the bench he sat on.

He was not happy having to sit it out, but knew that Harry new best.
