"I'd have to assume the same bouncy house. It makes way too much sense; those things are a pain to move. Plus it's probably more economical to rent the same one for two days." Emma couldn't imagine it was cheaper to rent from two different companies unless you had a coupon or something. The Amotas certainly had money, but you didn't keep that money unless you were smart with it.

She'd have to look into the volunteer thing. She was sure there'd be an announcement at practice, too.

 There  is a smile  after the kiss,..yes?   If I understand Father  and Coach Sims, We will not be having  Monday, of that week off. we will  practice,  that day...and Tuesday here, then Leave   Tuesday Night, to be  In New York For  Wedensday.. to practice  on thier  field..and  Thanksgiving  Morning  we go through walk -throughs...  Father  may change  Big Thanksgiving  Day  Dinner to   Friday afternoon, we will know   by Wedensday of that week... because  much Logistics are in that.. to bring Families to   New York.. and  send   Players    to  thier Homes who wish to have feast   with thier own Families?..It is going to be ..much the headache.!

 He   gives his ehad a jerk in the direction  of the   Three stadiums,..one thing  the   Team  did  was have that  whole '5.00 Ticket' thing  to watch the games on the big screens  in the other two stadiums.. The Fans  can   just about  hear each other's  cheers, and.. The  Amota's set a record  every  home game  for havign the most fans   'attend '.. Drives that  Cowboy's owner  crazy, he's  as greedy   and full of self promotion  as his   dad  was!....But? Some of the  folks around here?.. that's the closest they'll get to  seeing a  real Program.. Heck?  I never   saw a Pro Game until my  first  Preseason game here!

"They really expecting that many?" Emma asked. You just didn't get crowds like that where she was from, not for something like that. That idea was a bit surprising to her. "I saw a few, but when your local team is the Lions, well, tickets do get given away pretty frequently." That was both the upside and the downside of having a bad team in your backyard. You got to go to free or really cheap games, but the quality of the product was lacking.

"I know this is weird coming from me, but giving the body a chance to rest once in awhile isn't a bad thing. You'll bounce back from it soon enough. Certainly in time to welcome the Texans to our place." As annoying as Mosh was, the Texans were a team that you just kind of liked to beat.

"Do you have to help oversee the arrangements?"

Ben had never really thought overmuch about how things were organised so that an entire team complete with staff and equipment ended up in the right place at the right time. Perhaps it was testament to the quality of Dragons logistics that he'd never had to worry about more than arriving at the complex at the right time for the bus to the airport!

 There was a  slight  chuckle as  Bing stopped himself  from laughing too hard,well?..One thing.. and I am sure the NFL is  watching as well..... how much of this is  because  all this  is  'new" ?


 He  took one  arm from her  arm  and waved at the people, the  returned it,..but one thing that isn't goign away.. at  least , not in the  short term, is the Community?... Three stadiums... a MAll not  far away. Two long  stip Malls  on either  side of the  Parking lot... Housing  set up..Factorie s working..and all the little stuff that sprang up around them?... These folks... they don't know how good they have it...or?..maybe they do?  But  you can bet , folks will be brining thier  kids ehre, to see  Dragons.. Get  goodies..and it won't  cost parents  a dime.

I will help get support people where to go.. for  Thanksgiving?   I will have to work on getting tickets  for people who come here.. and  tickets for player who want to go elsewhere..  she  sighed,..what is goign to be real hard..is the famlies who are   flying out  to the game, so they can fly  to...where ever..home is..after the Game with thier player?.. In the end?  They will still miss  Thanksgiving at Home.... but we  are hoping .... they can make up for it the next day.

 Lana    had  Both arms  on Adam's  Shoudler    her  hands   clasped together behind his  head.  They were talking softly, she  had   big smile and would  laugh sometimes.. "It's real good of the Amotas to look out for everybody the way they do. A lot of people say Tough, you have a job to do and leave it at that. My Dad is probably coming to the game, he never tells me if he is or not, but Mom won't. She might come to New York to have Thanksgiving together, though."

He followed her gaze to where Adam and Lana were dancing.

"Maybe she fancies him. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy."

"I suspect they've got an idea, if things were rough before, that things are better now," Emma replied. She'd seen rundown and the recovery of a city. Jacksonville was on a bit of a recovery now, and that was a good thing.

She shrugged lightly at the comment about Adam and Lana. "Well, it proves to be anything more than a couple days while she's in town, I suppose just asking about it is easiest." Of course, that would require at least a little bit of tact, but it was best to just see if it was anything more. "You do hear stories like this about sports players and celebs getting together with some degree of regularity."

The refs, more or less concede, that the Dragons  are playing ..what one  Head Ref called..'cold blooded  football'... and I cannot say  i see anything against the rules.

 ..We  are hoping to   keep up with you...this is a Big game, and the Colts  are between  you and us?... I hope  not to be   what is beening termed as " the Next Century "... meaning the Team  that has 100 points hung on them.... Vegas  has a new  Line now...100 to 1... for  every  1 dollar you put down.. you get 100 back.. Some folks  are wagering 500  dollars on that...or more!... Rumors have  it, that they  may lower the  payout, or  drop the line  altogether...Lookign ahead?.. they have  already dropped that line  for next week's  game, against the  Texans.

I was Caoching DIII..had a great record... 3 stright playoff  appearances.. Two finals .. My team  won one.. and we lost the last one to Bronk's Team..... If you get to  the Rising Son...or Go  into Yuto's office, you will see the  pass Adam through to Yuto, to win the game....

Ben removed his pointy hat and swept a bow to the Amotas, before straightening up and shaking hands with everyone he was introduced to.

"As a rookie, playing at this level is all new to me... but it all feels quite natural here. Not that I knew much about the Jacksonville team before I got drafted! But I expected to have to work hard in training and during games, not to give up and coast... we may be athletes, but at the end of the day we are also entertainers. People come to watch an entertaining game of football, so we need to deliver one to everybody who comes to a game or even turns on their TV."

  Ivory  smiled   a bit,..I played   for   Teh Rams  and the    the  Packers.. had a  decent  12 years  as  a defensive  end...  I have never  seen a team demolish teams..  and   keep trowing  fuel on the fire.

Emma glanced at the screen and recognized the song. She mostly knew it, and she could fake knowing the rest either by noting what Lana was doing or making a subtle glance at the screen.

Emma put some effort into the performance, even if dancing for a crowd was a lot different than just dancing at a club. It wasn't like this was more people than playing in a packed stadium on Sundays. Her tolerance for people watching her perform had shot up dramatically over the last month.

She was a pretty reasonable dancer, though nowhere near Lana's skill of course. The choice of song helped as the moves weren't too complicated and she got to play up the Wonder Woman costume a bit with the moves.

 The Ladies  Laughed    when the  Song was over People  Cheered..   Sim s Wife  and Bana   left the  stage  to  Get a  drink.

 ..So?     We got  us  a real Lady Football player here! people  cheered again.

Ben listened politely to what Ivory and Lofton had to say.

"I understand. Perhaps we play a bit differently to some teams... but surely, isn't this the way the game ought to be played. If we weren't supposed to play 'ball for a full hour, why are all sixty minutes on the clock?"

He listened some more.

"I'm not into all this 'hate' stuff. Adam seems to relish it. I'd rather let my football do the talking!"

He returned Lofton's smile.

"He may try - it's part of the game to tackle after all. I expect to be hit. I expect to be knocked ass over teakettle sometimes... but I get up again and carry on."

A duet, as in actually singing? Well, it was to raise money, right? Hopefully, it'd help raise a decent bit of money. She glanced at the laptop but knew this song, so didn't need it for reference.

Emma let herself get a bit into her character, so to speak, singing the song with Lana. Emma didn't really do things halfheartedly, so the other woman would have an outwardly enthusiastic duet partner. Emma was about an average singer, so she wasn't offensive to the ears, though Lana was clearly much better.

She let herself get into the warrior of the dance, however, and incorporated her sword and shield a bit into it. Whenever the Bang Bang portion of the song came up, she flexed her arms instead of making finger-gun motions.

  Ivory  smiled a bit, ahving played  12  years as i said,  I have seen the best of times...a superbowl win with the Rams...4 pro bowls... one sack short of the sack record for a season?.. and..of course.. 2   'one win' seasons... Injuries.. the last  one ended my career  about 2  years shorter then i would have liked... I We had  teams  run up the score on us  , to make sure they had    'tie breaking' edges for themselves...we had   people , bring in the second team  as well..

 Sims broke in,.. It is  our way, to make sure  we have  ALL   the tir breakers , in hand. I could only coach against one team per  week.. The Dragons?  can only play against, one team per week.. so... we  will beat  down each team, to make  sure there isn't some ..obscure  clause in the tie breakers . he took ma sip of his Beer.

 ..Besides?  Our  contract  format , makes it imperative , that our players  get playing  time, reach stat Goals and the  Like... Only Ben and Steele have.. ' NFL' contracts, and  even those  were watered  down to the base we could pay them, but.. infused  with incentives, to reward them for good play.... You See, Mr Lofton.. If i need to bench a Player..or fine him.. it hurts...so  anyone  playing 'just to get paid".. and decide  they want  to take a day off?..well... that's  money out of thier pocket.

 Lofton Bristled a bit Dick McCune thier  MLB had  been benched  a few times  for  some 'questionable' plays, but the cameras  always  found him  laughing on the side lines.

 so?..what if the league  would develope  your  style of contracts?  wouldn't you lose players  to  Big Markets Like  New York..LA..Chicago

 Sims  smiled,..My team is based   in Florida...EVERYONE..not only gets to play..But  HAS to  play...so?.. even if  we we have a down season.. I can always   find Free Agents  that will play this game for me.... and?  They'll play damn hard.

 Ivory switched the Subject,..so?..  There  are some records   that have been Broken Ben Here  has 26  Receiving Touchdowns  ..Broke    the Late Randy Mosses   number of  23.. and we have half a season to go... Mr Hope  is also a GAme or two away from Braking the yardage mark as well.....  Projections  have  Duke breaking the   Yards PAssing for a season, and he has  a good chance to  get Touchdown Passes thrown..... Broke  Might  pass the  Yardage   Mark as well.. but he  trails   Mr Hope.. so?.. by the end of the season,  they could be  1 and  2 for a few of the season records..

 Lofton Bristled again,Thier Offesne.. the  way they play? calling time out as the end of the game..  scoring  100 points..just to score 100 points... They are making  a mockery of the record book.

 Sims  brusted out laughing,.. you mean.. by quitting, when   we are too far ahead?...or behind.. You've seen that in our games.. The teams folded thier tents, some as  early as HAlftime..so?.. why did they get paid... what  about the   blue collar  folks in the stand  who came to watch them play, spending  a week's  worth of  salary  to bring   they families..or hang out with thier  friends...Part of the reason, why  we play.. is  to  ..SET.. records... and next year, we'll try to break our own..so? Get  used to seeing  my Team trying to reach that 100 point barrier...

 Ivory says,..as the  'Commish' , I have to tell you, there are some owners that want to  Ban  your type of Contracts...

 ..Good luck  with that...  The NFLPA   Monitors  our  weekly   payouts... they see the  itemized goals  that were reached.. .. and   you will never  see 'guarrented ' Money... You'll play here..and earn here, and if  we  cut you, or trade you.. the   spigot  is turned off, and your new   team  has to  worry about what you will get paid..and?  when the    Union sees  what my players  will bring in at the  end of the season..and that's not  counting playoff and the Superbowl incentives?... I think they will press the other  way..

 Ivory  asks,..How So?

 He  thinks a Moment, then Sims Points  to Mik...see the Guy in the  Ten GAllon  Cowboy hat... He came down with Bronk from Hamilton... he has    knee issues   since he was  cheap shotted, eariler this season. He's an Older  player, but busts his ass , every practice, gives  me all he  has on Sundays... and Gets  his share of Playing time... If I was any other coach, Mik  would  be watching  Klay and White.. and Just get some  scrap work  in the 4th quarter.. but he knows, he can be  as much a factor ..each and every game as  anyone else..  I don't have   1st team  and 2nd teamers.. I have Guys who start the GAme,  and everyone else who plays.. you'll never here  a dragon say ," I was expecting to get in"...

 Lofton looks at Ben,..what do you think, Mr Hope?.. You're  a Player... This is a Party..I'm sure   Coach Sims  won't mind yu...speaking your own mind...

  Whe  the  Song started  and     Emma got into it,  Lana  Smiles   and   pushed her own performance  as well..  The investors would have ripples go  around the crwod  as they 'learned' who  Wonder Woman was...

 When she Flexed    Bing shouted WOOOOOOOO!.. and the  woman  clapped  along, More then One   medal  wearing   guy came up to Adam  and pointed to   Emma  , asking  somethign and Adam  Just grinned  and  nodded or shook his head  depending on the question.

 When the Song  was  done, the crowd   on the dance   fllor was  a might  packed, Lanna   was laughing  and   Gave  Emma a Hug.. then ' presented'   Emma  to the  crowd  with a Bow...

 the crowd  reacted  with More cheers..


 Lana Let  Emma go..  the  Crowd of  men around  Adam    swarmed like a small cloud to Follow  her...

 WOOOOOO!.. Is this fun or what!  the  Crowd  cheered...well.. here's  what we're  Gonna  do... were gonna embarrass  Adam   One  more time, before  we slip into some   slow   songs.... so.. get Up her  Flyboy...

 Bronk   got Up  on the Gazebo  by taking the stairs Lana  said into the Mic,ahhh?..  Taking the stairs  Now , I see.., Jumping over the railings is just  to escape? she nodded and   the  people laughed.

 As they  set up  for  Adam's next  torture,   Fan Boys-Men Crowded  around Emma,   they all talked at  Once  " where  did you learn to play?"..  ' How  Lofton  do your work out"...  "Can you make an appearance  at my Gym"..  One of the Older   Men   waved to teh refreshment  table   and  they  followed  like a Pack of  Puppies.  Reaching the Table, Ivory watched  as well.. its  clear he wanted to speack with her, But he held back   to let the Investors  'feed"

  Lana   and    he talked  eddie  and the  Keyboard    chick    nodded...

 Lana  tuned with a  Smile,..Ok.... I lied.. two songs.. One, By Adam.. the  last  one  will both do.. Then?  We'll let the Poor Guy  go and party? they clapped   and waited.


 Eddie  talked to Adam , The   Wideout   nodded  and said  soem things Looking at the BAnd  that made the Drummer laugh  and Eddie  Smile as he  whacked him on the BAck… Kana  Just Gave her Head a  shake and bite her lip a bit.

  when   the Lines  " lighting  and the Thunder "   Eddie's  Lap tow  showed a power point of   Adam  and Ben... Lu-ti  whooped as did  Cindy...

  Lana    and the Keyboard chick did  all the other 'Voices...

  Every  Time he  said "Lighting" he  hit his chest, then Pointed towards   Ben  for "thunder"   and  M ore   People  went Nuts.

 Sims  Laughed  as he and the others   talked  when Adam said ".. Not a yes sir, not a Follower"..That's for damned sure!

 The   People  were  Going  crazy  by the end of the Song..   a few people went to the  Wishing Well, But  had to stand in Line  as   people who flocked there after Emma's song  were crowded  around.

 Lana  Was Smiling  and   Put her  head On Adam's shoudler, The  looked over the Crowd,..Hey there..Bomb?.... I'm hoping you play for a long time..  I don't know    if   i want a  rival in the charts!

 the   crowded  laughed..

 yeah>,,,No threat there.. These Folks  Love  you?  More  Fans  cheered,..and they are  supportive, ebcause they  are... MY PEOPLE!!!

 Again Fans   went  Nuts, even some players   roared out cheers..
 Lana  nodded her  head  as she   Put  an arm around   Adam, and Looked to the Floor, before looking back up to the crowd,...

  As Adam Sang, he  got a bit  better, a bit more feeling...

 Lana's   lines   were  full of Feeling..and Cindy   had the camera  rolling..because?..Adam  didn't   say  she Couldn't..

  The First few lines  Ladies    awwwwed,,  abut  as the song Continued and Lana   sang.. the  awes  had a differant  'pitch"

Emma bowed when presented and then made her way offstage, only to be swarmed by the investors. She gave them a smile and started chatting with them, getting a water and casually walking towards the wishing well while answering questions.

"I learned to play back home in Detroit in middle and high school. I played college ball for Wayne State. A small Detroit school that most people haven't heard of," Emma replied with a smile.

"Like most players, I do some form of workout every day. I do harder workouts in the off-season, of course, since I don't have to consider playing a game on Sundays. I've done powerlifting and am hoping to compete in the Olympics next year before the season starts," she added to the guy asking about how often she worked out.

The one who asked about making an appearance at the gym was asked a bit more about where he was from and details like that, which would dictate her answer. She'd make various talk with the investors for a little bit with the hope they'd perhaps donate a bit more in the well. But she never actually asked for them to donate directly and would let them lead the conversation with their various questions and ask a few questions of her own, based on what she knew of the individuals and their own companies they were involved in. She'd let the others nearby who were donating and the people who were better at that be the sort of background pressure.

Once the investors were fed, so to speak, she smiled as she put the last of the business cards into the pouch. "I'll catch up with some of you later, but I have a few people to speak with. Please, enjoy the party. Smokey here is one of our more entertaining players and can tell stories better than most," she said, gesturing to the kicker.

Once she was free, she made her way over towards Ivory. She took a drink of her water before speaking. "Evening sir," the woman replied at an appropriate moment. "You wanted to speak with me?" She'd caught the look, of course. She didn't apologize for taking care of the investors first, however. She was here, first and foremost, to help raise money for the hospital.

Ben grinned.

"Well, Sir, I signed the contract... after reading it and doing the math! I am enjoying playing here, because I like to go... uh, excuse me, 'balls to the wall' on the field. I'm the same with everything else I do. Full effort, for all the time spent on that particular thing. See..."

He fumbled in his wizard robe for a moment, then reached out and took a silver dollar out of Loftus' ear.

"As I'd decided to dress as a wizard tonight, I went out this afternoon and picked up some magic tricks."

He raised the other hand to the sky and released a small burst of flame. This co-incideded rather neatly with Adam starting to sing about 'lightning and thunder', so he continued in that vein, emitting more flame every time Adam pointed at him.
