I completely forgot we had an OOC planning thread...I think the fact that it has only 10 posts in it says something significant about this team...*grin*

Or maybe we can get him a blaster that shoots out Wookies with bowcasters.

Re: A wretched hive of scum and villainy - OOC thread

Well, I was planning on trashing the skiff to make everybody glad they'd decided to use it for cover.  Then this happened...

Stormtrooper 1 rolled 2 (5 excluding the wild die) using 4 dice with the WEG Classic system with rolls of {Wild}1,2,1,1. Attack 1:  Difficult.
Stormtrooper 1 rolled 2 (7 excluding the wild die) using 4 dice with the WEG Classic system with rolls of 1,1,4,{Wild}1. Attack 2:  Difficult.
Stormtrooper 1 rolled 14 using 4 dice with the WEG Classic system with rolls of {Wild}3,4,2,5. Attack 3:  Difficult.
Stormtrooper 1 rolled 2 (5 excluding the wild die) using 4 dice with the WEG Classic system with rolls of 1,1,2,{Wild}1. Attack 4:  Difficult.
Stormtrooper 1 rolled 22 using 4 dice with the WEG Classic system with rolls of 3,3,5,{Wild}6(+5). Attack 5:  Difficult.

Five shots.  One hit.  Three rolls of 2, the absolute minimum that it's possible to get with 4 dice.

Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise.

Okay, I'll watch the movies later.  But nothing in them could be as hilarious as those to hit rolls.

Re: A wretched hive of scum and villainy - OOC thread

Apologies everybody:

As those of you who are in my other games will have heard, I was actually taken to hospital during the week with a bacterial infection in my leg, and spent several days in an isolation room with no internet access.

My wife plays in those games and was able to post a message in them letting people know what was happening - unfortunately I had no way to get a similar message posted here.

Anyway, long story short, I'm home again and on the mend, but I'm still a bit under the weather, so it will probably be a day or three before I'm all caught up again.

Honestly, I should have thought of that and put a message here after seeing the ones in the other games.  Sorry.  :(

And, as stated elsewhere, thank goodness it turned out as it did.

Re: A wretched hive of scum and villainy - OOC thread

By the way, I just wanted to take a half a second and compliment Force on the mission we just finished. I've been GM'ing a long, long time and I know a well-executed adventure when I see one.

It was just the right length, just the right complexity, had just the right mix of interaction and action. Just the right level of puzzles and challenges. Everyone got a chance to do something cool.

Was really good. And really fun.

So thank you. That was awesome.

Re: A wretched hive of scum and villainy - OOC thread

You know, it's a major accomplishment in a play-by-post game to actually complete a mission.  And have it be fun for all, and not drag to a halt.  Kudos!  I've seen many games that never make it through the first adventure...

Re: A wretched hive of scum and villainy - OOC thread

In reply to Juragga (msg #748):

That's just it. Tactical-style games seem SO easy. The structure and story are taken care of, yeah? Assignment, mission, rest. Wash, rinse, repeat. But tactical missions are hard to plan (and not over or under plan) and hard to run. They get bogged down in detail so fast and so easily.

Force did a good job. I mean, I know he's been doing this for a lot of years, so it stands to reason. But still.

Re: A wretched hive of scum and villainy - OOC thread

Gotta say, while the kudos are being handed around, that I enjoyed this one every bit as much as most of the face-to-face Star Wars games I've been in (I have to say 'most', because after a couple of decades playing the same characters in the same group--even if my character was the common element in all the various evolutions of said group--I've got some absolute doozies of memories.  But this had all the same flair and fun of those games, and that's something that has been hard to capture in play-by-post games, for me.)

While The Force gets a lot of the credit, you guys all deserve a hand, too...player chemistry is, in my experience, every bit as important as GM skill in making an enjoyable game, and you've all been very fun to play alongside (as it were).  Looking forward to a great many more episodes to come!
