This... actually doesn't look to bad from the brief bit we see.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXbP_toJWq0

I also liked both of the new ones. But then, I liked Rogue One and Solo as well. So I might just be an easy mark.

I'm one of the few among my old circle of friends who likes the new ones.  They have problems, but most movies do.

That said, I've learned to take pains to avoid developing preconceptions of what a movie should be (which might be part of why I like the new ones).  So, I'm reserving judgment...  *grin*

That's exactly it. They're just movies. A new experience can't retroactively ruin a prior experience unless you allow it to.

And the original trilogy had the benefit of aging in a relative vacuum, without social media or the burden of a decades-ling franchise to bear. Lots of people didn't like Empire at the time. There were lots of all caps fanboi letters to Star Wars magazines yelling about how stupid it was that Darth Vader was Luke's father and etc etc.

Of all the new movies, Rogue One was the one I loved most.

But I haven't hated any of them.  Still haven't seen Solo yet, tho.

As the youngest Scion of a Great House, with the responsibility for bearing the majesty and glory its venerable predecessors into a glorious new age, Solo is probably a failure.

As a cool space movie where attractive people do sassy banter and blow stuff up in service a plot that's just smart enough to not be stupid and just simple enough to not be distracting?

Rousing success.

I thoroughly enjoyed it...but again, that's likely due in large part to the fact that I didn't expect it to 'measure up' to anything else.  It wasn't a story about the Skywalker family, and it wasn't a story about the Rebellion, so it didn't need to feel like anything else in the Star Wars canon, to me.

Brian Daley's Han Solo novels were so awesome back when I was a kid, they really created my image of Han's origins and life before Luke.

That said, I will get around to the movie eventually.  Chewie's in it, after all! ^_^

I still have to watch Solo!  ^_^

I admit, Rogue One is my favourite Star Wars movie now, period.  I really loved it, and not just because it has Donnie Yen.  Just great -- so much to enjoy, so much emotion.

So... sometimes I'm at work, and I'm just minding my own business and getting on with my job.  And suddenly Nature will, right out of nowhere, throw something truly magical at me...  :)

Haarmon:   "Cool!  I have lightsabre nunchucks!"
The Force: "Nice.  By the way, how many limbs do you have?"
Haarmon:   "Four.  Two arms, and two legs.  I also have a head.  Does that count as a limb?"
The Force: "Guess again."
Haarmon:   "But I haven't even unpacked it yet."
The Force: "Forward planning is good."

I'm going to be scarce for the next week and a half or so...we're in tech and dress rehearsals for the shows at the park, I'm putting in twelve-hour days and THEN going to my other job at the movie theater (which is only a couple of hours a night, thank goodness.)  Shows open June 1st, then my life gets a little more normal again.

It's cool JEDI.

^_^

I'm pretty cool with the LS Nunchaku table...fits in pretty well with the basic idea of Nunchaku to start with.  I'm pretty sure they were a secret weapon designed by the Okinawans to brutalize people who tried to learn their martial arts.

[Okinawan Sensei]  Oh, yes, great foreign hope of my people; now you must master our deadliest weapon!

[Other Okinawans]  *muffling giggles*

Good luck, Rhijans!  I assume this is worth it?  :D
