Jane Guin:
08:36, Today: Jane Guin rolled 11 using 3d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,4,4. Jane searchin
Straight up dice roll. Not sure of any more modifiers.
Where or where can that shelter be....oh where or where can it be?
I usually ask for straight-up rolls. I'll try and include the TN and modifiers if I think of them.
This is to do a visual check to find a location to camp. The stretch of road between Boise and Twin Falls is so bad that travelers between Boise and Junkyard typically detour around this stretch than go directly. It's possible that some of you have been this way but no one's familiar enough to know of any camping areas.
The rules are kind of ambiguous as to when to use the
Search skill and the attribute it's based on,
Cognition. The description for Cognition is rather vague ".... for perception and general awareness" while
Search is used to both comb an area but also look for ambushes, a wide and narrow application.
This should have probably been a
Cognition check over
Search, but no harm no foul.

Private to Smoker Nix: Open your character sheet and look up your Search skill, which I think is 3d8. Dice rolls based on skills or attributes are a dice pool, take the highest. Dice are open-ended/explode, that is, if they max you roll again. I will usually give you a Target Number (TN) that you need to beat.]
