Re: Ruins of Wichita
In reply to Rowan Dawson (msg #554):
The symbols surrounding them were of intentional desecration of Christian images. The crosses and crucifixes were upside down, there was blood in the bowl that would normally hold Holy Water. The statues were obscenely sexual in nature but not celebrations of human passion and fertility. These acts looked instead to be painful, coerced. Stained glass looked to be superficially Satanic in nature but she understood them to be desecration of Pagan symbols; the Pentagram with a goat's head in the middle, scenes of what she guessed was the Goddess being tortured and slain by the Four Horsemen.
Fortunately, among the wholesale desecration of both Christianity and Paganism (although not of other religions, she noted) she did not note any real symbols of mystical power, nor any wards or protections. It was almost like they were arrogant in their own sanctum.
The group moved further towards the altar in the centre of the deserted structure. They could see what could be human remains, sacrifices. Also a collection of goblets, cups, chalices, a small cauldron. All was smeared in blood. The inside of the church reeked of death, blood and burned flesh.
Just past the altar on the right, they saw someone ducking inside a small doorway. As for Trejo, he moved down the narrow stairwell, going deeper and deeper. The air became warmer, fetid. After about 40 stairs down, he heard rustling, low voices from what could be a room ahead.
