Near Wichita

1400, Saturday 07 May 2094

They were on other side of the Ghost Storm wall, on the semi-blocked Interstate by-pass. Inside the ruins, the usually calm "eye" inside the Ghost Storm resembled a raging hurricane. The highway around them had a few wrecks and rough spots but was generally passable.

They took the feeder onramp to Interstate 35, heading towards their destination: El Dorado, now known as "Near Wichita".

They may be outside the Ghost Storm, but they were still in a zone of contamination. Also, the storm wasn't done with them. No one had ever seen anything like it before. Debris whipped up by what looked like massive tornadoes behind them was being spewed up and shot out to land around them. Lightning flashed and thunder crackled all around the cylindrical storm wall.

Half a rusted boat trailer slammed down into the Interstate ahead of them. A refrigerator smashed into the pavement 10 feet from Rowan, spraying blackened rotted food and shattered plastic ice cube trays, which she narrowly avoided. A hundred yards off to the right a dead tree in front of a ruined office park was set on fire by a bolt of green lightning.

Rowan screams in shock, "lets get the hell out of here gang", as she powers the bike along side the truck.
"I think we up set some thing badly back in there"

Re: Near Wichita

As they traveled, Smoker waved the Geiger counter around inside the trailer.

Trejo lay in a painful haze in the cab. He had slightly revived a little but when they pierced through the Ghost storm wall he passed out again from the shock.

The counter chattered when it came to himself, and Smoker did feel a little queasy. The strange radiation given off from the fallout of Ghost Rock weapons was different than "normal" nuclear weapons. He knew from his experience salvaging  in the ruins a good wash and shower would decontaminate him. The passengers and the inside of the trailer seemed clean, except for Selene's broken-down economy car.

Re: Near Wichita

Despite actually not being all that good a rider, Rowan kept up with the semi as they raced away from the wall of the Ghost storm, towards Near Wichita. They avoided the debris that rained down (it lessened a lot the further they traveled). Some of the posse were affected by passing through the barrier, most weren't.

After about 5 minutes they made it safely to the roadblock that warned travellers away from the ruins of Wichita and the Ghost Storm surrounding it. It was as good a place as any to stop and check everyone out. The Templar in the cab of the truck started to wake up.

Smoker checked everyone using the Geiger counter, and found he, Rowan and Roadkill had picked up somewhat higher doses. Indeed, all three felt a little ill (-1 Wind) and would need to be decontaminated. Before the war, this would require disposing clothes but now, clothes were too valuable to destroy and were often just cleaned. A good shower with soap was still the best way to decontaminate a person's body.

Smoker stands at the back of the trailer eyeing up the mangled rear doors. He takes a long draw on his pipe and considers the damage.  "Fixin' these doors is gonna take some time" he calls to Roadkill "You want to get these fixed now, or wait until we get to town?"
