In reply to COL Kurt L. Schaeffer (msg #225):

Done. The hours of riding have done wonders for Schaeffer's skill on a bike. Or, technically, trike.

Note: Crichton and Jane are manning weapons (an HI SAW and M2HB respectively) that are on 360 degree pintle mounts with gunshields, so they're relatively well-protected.

Regarding Combine chipped weapons: they will explode if someone who's non-chipped tries to use them. I think the "nuclear" option, where they explode if they get too far away from their assigned user, would be activated by commanders as a fail-safe (troops about to break, be overrun or captured) or punishment for carelessness or laziness. Jane and Crichton's Combine weapons have had the chips deactivated, at least, so they're not forced to be tethered to them!

Ian,

Combine small arms ammunition (which is a unique caseless calibre) isn't chipped. It's actually pretty easy to come across in the Wasted West. Black Hats aren't that hard to kill so it's captured on a regular basis but non-Combine weapons can't use it. It's usually not worth the effort and risk of deactivating Combine weapon chips.

Ahh from what I had read I thought they used an odd caliber. Hence my statement

Combine weapons use oddball Combine calibres. A couple people in the group use Combine weapons, so they can use any captured weapons.

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

Posse,

Sorry if it seems things are moving in slow motion. I have a rough idea what the forward bikes are doing, plus the rig. I was hoping for some feedback from Peter's player, but he hasn't been able to post for a couple days. I assume Rowan and Schaeffer are keeping back with the rig.

The advantage of the current situation is the rig is not immediately noticeable, and unless the technical speeds up neither will it. The disadvantage is that the firepower of the larger vehicles isn't brought into play as quickly.

Ah! I need a Quickness roll, then. Well, not so important for RK and the rest of the people in the truck. But Peter and Jane, at least. I'll roll for Trejo and Michaela (and Smoker).

Drivers/Riders for vehicles in motion (Trejo, Michaela, Peter, Roadkill, Rowan, Schaeffer) are all -1 Action for driving.

Posse,

I seem to recall Marc/Schaeffer was going to have trouble posting so I posted on his behalf. My apologies if that's not the case, he can re-roll for Actions if he likes!

Ian, the Quickness roll is 3d6, not 3d6+1. The +1 skews the results, I'll need a re-roll!

In reply to Rowan Dawson (msg #237):

Posse,

Something to remember for combat is to include the following at the bottom of your posts:
  1. Name
  2. Weapon in hand (Ammo/Mag)
  3. General Location
  4. Action(s)

Eg:

Michaela Fukushima
No weapon in hand
East of roadblock
Quickdraw Sword.
Attack #4, continue riding past the roadblock

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

Posse,

Your vehicles have become strung out.

At 60 Mph will take at least half a minute (6 turns) to cover the distance to the SUV. The rig will still be far behind.

If you want the technical and rig to attack together then you need to coordinate your approach better. Otherwise, just describe what your characters are doing over the next 30 seconds as the technical approaches. Unless they speed up, no one on the rig or behind it will be able to participate when the technical engages the Black Hats.

I'll assume the technical is hanging back to let the rig catch up.

They will hit the roadblock doing 60 MPH (about 90 to those using "metrickery"). The SUV is big enough that it will not allow either larger vehicle to pass. If you don't want to stop, the techical (or rig) will need to ram!

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

In reply to Rowan Dawson (msg #245):

I will repost that to the IC thread, where it probably more belongs!

Also, I'm toying with the ide, as a of expanding "Continuous Actions", like Driving, to other areas, like shooting, as in giving covering fire.

For example, take covering/suppressive fire. Like Driving you forfeit 1 Action at the start of your turn to automatically act in all 5 "Continual Action" phases (Queen, Jack, Eight, Five, Deuce). Additional Action can be taken but at -2 for any such Actions. You must fire 1 3-round burst or 1 shot per phase. If forced to abort, you lose all additional phases.
