Exercising my petty vestige of power!

As for what's going on overall, it seemed a little coincidental to me that all the PCs just happen to be going to Boise, even if it's convenient for game purposes. Boise is what passes for a centre of power in the Wasted West, so it makes sense that some movement towards there is according to the HoE "meta-plot" which, of course, your PCs are not privy to. Some really is just coincidence (anything Templar-related could logically involve Boise at some point).

Lights are somewhat rare in the Wasted West because they are hard to produce and are vulnerable to collision and gunfire. Balancing that is there are or at least were many available for salvage (not affected by EMP) after the war.

I would say all bikes have at least one, the rig and technical have two.

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

Posse,

Peter raises an interesting tactical situation (to Crichton, a trained Marine). As they say, there's no right answer here, but it's up to Crichton to decide how he's best used!

The rig has an open position (the front fighting position) although the front and rear are covered (Sullivan in the cab covers forward, Smoker the rear. The technical doesn't really have an open position (Jane is manning the gun, can cover 360-degrees and is reasonably well-protected in the armoured bed and behind the gunshield). However, the technical is the group's main "mobile unit" (QRF) so an extra gun riding along would be handy. (The technical probably won't be overrun, what with 2-3 motorcycles and a hoverbike keeping it company.)

Also, new players should have a look at the House Rules/Errata (for game-specific information) and Cheat Sheets (if new to HoE itself) threads. Older players would do well to have a gander, too.

Adam,

1) Ah, shitty! Best of luck, don't worry about posting. I take it you can't mess around with drop-down menus and such too much.

2) As a reminder, the following have radios: Roadkill (CB), Smoker (Walkie-talkie), Crichten (IBS helmet), Peter (CB, IBS helmet), Schaeffer, (IBS helmet).

3) "Gilles" is programmed after driver "Gilles Villeneuve", a Formula One racer from Canada who bought the farm in 1982 during the Belgian Grand Prix, still revered (in the sport) for his aggressive driving. Maybe a few bugs need to be worked out, there...

Tony,                                          Drop downs and spacing are the only issues with phone posting. But I know the coding for color so really private is the issue. I will do my level best to keep up.                                  Adam

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

In reply to Roadkill (msg #190):

After we paid, they were more than happy to let us play!

Added: The stories about them giving you a binder laid out like a menu? That's basically true. Firing off a pistol mag (Tokarev, Colt M1911) is $10 each, Assault rifles $40, B40/RPG-2s were $300 but 40mm grenades are a bargain at $50 each.

Blowing up cows... not true, at least not likely or on purpose. They said that rockets and grenades were at an outdoor live fire range. Cows or water buffalo could easily wander or be led onto the range. Livestock would mean herders and they would end any live fire exercises while they cleared the range.

Adam, don't worry about colours and formatting, I'll add those to your posts for now where needed. The rest of you mugs, you're not off the hook!

In reply to Rowan Dawson (msg #192):

1) Averaging bout 40 Mph/60 Kmh for a 10-hour day. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower. You had time to either look or stop, not both. You looked.
2) You have headlights which illuminate the road in front. The guy's dressed in black off the side of the road the semi is blocking your view to the front to a degree.
3) You're in a convoy westbound and running hammer down. I'm guessing they don't have the same concept in the UK? You're not sight-seeing here!

Here, rock it with the bandit and the black Trans-Am that every kid had in his Hot Wheels collection:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnRwQjTYfGI

"Eastbound and down, loaded up and a-truckin', we're gonna do what they say can't be done..."

Convoy Order:

I was thinking this out, and the best order would be the semi travelling "front door" or in front (Trejo can range ahead if he wants to risk passig it), technical as "back door" (Jane training the .50 to the rear) with the bikes in between.

Ian,

I did point out you were using headlights. The rig is running dark (AI using low-light) but the tail and rear running lights are on. In theory if you follow those exactly you won't hit anything.

Okay to continue our early conversation about bulbs
Are they considered a high value trade item and are they still made in places like boise, scrap yard?

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

In reply to Rowan Dawson (msg #196):

I'll have to check if there's a price. I'd say $10/bulb for small lights/flashlights, $25 each for headlight, $50 for spotlight. Does not include lamp assembly!

Bulbs would be fairly high-value, I'd imagine. Still produced in Junkyard. Probably not Boise. Salvage all over would be common, especially near cities. The types in use before the war were very durable.

In fact, that's part of the alternative history of the setting: manufactured goods are more advanced than today (2012) but not as advanced as you'd think for 2080. Due to environmental factors goods are longer lasting, require less maintenance and more easily recyclable.
