Re: The Destroyer

The Marshall:
Everyone flinched when Roadkill fired a burst into the air. The spent brass pattered down but there was no other sound save for the dying echo. There were no cries or other sign they heard the shots.

Over the radio Schaeffer called, "they are now running towards out position! Am opening fire!"

Sure enough, they could see the dark figures running towards them, flitting among and around the charred tree trunks. Smoke and steam still obscured them and while there was some light from smouldering trees and branches it was only enough to cast macabre shadows that sometimes hid and sometimes revealed the silently onrushing horde.

Re: The Destroyer

Peter grumbled into the radio. "NEVER waste ammunition like that, Roadkill. And I hope you are not wrong about this. Perhaps we should disable and not kill until we know what or who they are?"

He quickly got into a position beside the truck but not wanting to fire and potentially waste ammo until he could see the target more clearly...and what or who they were.

In reply to COL Kurt L. Schaeffer (msg # 736):

Jane climbed into the Destroyer and quickly prepped Baby to fire.  Jane wanted to see if she could find out more information though and didn't want to just open up fire so she looked through the scope first to see her best targets.  She planned on conserving her ammo as much as possible for she might need them if they kept advancing.  She had her imaginary line drawn on the ground and if they crossed it she'd open up and fire to take them down.

He aimed and fired at targets, being true to his word starting with disabling shots until they could see what they were dealing with.

"yeah yeah. Big hoard that comes at you when you fire a warning shot. Would you run at it?"

Roadkill waits for a second to see if the hoard react to get away or take cover, if not then he aims and fires his SMG at head height. Only some sort of beast would continue forward after being shot at.

Re: The Destroyer

The burned orchard again filled with gunfire. Schaeffer and Rowan took single shots, while Roadkill ripped off a couple bursts with his SMG.

Maybe a couple of them stumbled as they ran forward, but none fell. Schaeffer called, "I know I hit two in the chest, they did not go down! Mein Gott! What is happening here?"

Added: The lasers on Rowan's and Roadkill's weapons left visible green lines that lanced through the smoky darkness!

Marshall's Note: Roadkill -9 rounds, Schaeffer -2 rounds, Rowan -2 rounds. Jane's weapon (the Ma-Deuce) has no scope, just "open sights". The truck picture in Peter's character description is a little inaccurate. The post-mounted weapon is an M240 GMPG (aka SA SAW) with a starlight scope.

Jane is waiting for them to get a little closer before using up precious ammo.  As she keeps an eye on the progress she makes a mental note to ask the group if any of them can bless ammo or the guns and if it would act better against the undead and other abominations they have to face.

Jane shook her head and got on the radio.  "If they are undead we can't take them all. Peter and I will be knee deep in them if they get up closer and with this darkness we'd be wasting ammo on trying to take them out at a distance.  I'm not fond of running but unless you can think of a better solution, that might be our best."

Trejo mounted up on Modeen's bike, kicking it to life. Barb followed him on the back.

Looking into the gloom he frowned and said, "we don't need to go far or fast. Just keep ahead of them. With any luck we can get them to chase the vehicles, lead 'em away from the house? Pick 'em off when the sun comes up. Away from this smoke."

"We got around 10 seconds to ride!"

Peter had a only a moment to decide. He gave a nod of decision and climbed into the truck and locked it up tight. He started up the engine and threw the truck into gear. He drove in a circle to come up to the side of the "possible undead" so he and Jane could see what they were but hopefully not get swarmed.

Over the radio he said, "Jane and I will see if we can lead some or all away but it would not hurt to have company in doing so."

Slinging his rifle, Schaeffer stood up and ran towards the front of the trailer.

"The rig may not run, I don't know if you'll even have company!"

Quickly, he climbed down the front of the rig, noting with horror THERE WAS NO DRIVER SIDE DOOR!

Not having a welding torch, Smoker had been unable to put it back on after it was blown off.

"SHIT! THERE'S NO FUCKING DOOR! Peter, help us!"

Over the radio
"You guys do what you can out there to get them to come at us from one direction. We will take one side of the house and fall back as, and how we can"

Roadkill grabs the least fightend looking person out of the hostages and suggests, with a tug that he comes over to a firing position with him. He gives him his mossberg and that axe, so he has the SMG in hand, "truckers friend" and Machete in their holsters as backup.

To the person
"Don't fire unless i say and keep the gun handy as i will take it when i'm empty. We'll get through this as a team"

In reply to Roadkill (msg # 747):

The people in the house were immediately reassured by Roadkill taking charge of the situation. They felt with him and Jason there they were in good hands. Jason said, "listen to Roadkill everyone, he's right."

Rowan had already collected the various firearms dropped by the dead bikers, so they were fairly well armed with NA M22s, NA Commandos, shotguns and pistols.

One of the teenagers came forward, she had a revolver stuck in her belt. "I'm Emily. I can reload for you."

Daphne was probably the least frightened, but she was already well-armed with an NA M22 (Steyr AUG) and 9mm M9. "Where can we fall back to? If we are in the open, they'll probably swarm us."

Marshall's Note: There are 12 convoy members inside, plus Daphne, Roadkill and Jason. None are wounded enough to significantly affect their performance (Modeen put to death those too injured to move. I figured 4 for the front, left and right sides of the house. Roadkill/Jason/Daphne are also in front.

Jason's temporarily NPCd for a little while but the player should be posting again soon enough.
