Re: The Destroyer

In reply to Peter Firecrow (msg # 828):

Rubbing his red eyes, Crichton looked like he really needed a beer. Peter and Jane could see he was wearing a red "Maltese Cross" (the Templar's symbol) badge on a white arm band, as did the other defenders.

"Hey, I hear you been through a lot, too!

"We really slowed 'em down in the ruins, made 'em fight on foot, house to house and room to room. Still, with the Anti-Templars leading the Destroyers, their biker and road gang allies the bad guys numbered about 400. It was at least 4 to 1 odds and they were a lot better armed than we were, lots of vehicles, a few heavy weapons. They fought their way to the door of the Temple and looked like they were going to overrun us completely, but no one ran. At the last moment Goose and his boys and girls came through the storm wall, hit 'em from behind. It was all over but the shouting, the Destroyers and their biker and road gang allies broke and tried to flee, they got cut down. There were six Anti-Templars and five went down (I zapped two myself), only one got away."

Modeen's posse of Anti-Templars had numbered twelve. They'd killed three, five more fell here, leaving four unaccounted for,

"Why don't you go in and talk to Goose and Simon (he's doing better now). They're waiting. Then we can catch up, if we have time, but other things are happening."

Peter gave a smile and a nod to Crichton's story. "After this meeting and some sleep, we can perhaps have a drink together."

He followed into the "Temple" wondering what would be said this time around.

Jane followed the others in.  This meeting stuff wasn't her thing but she understood the need of it.  When Peter mentioned rest she had to agree.  Some sleep would be good and there should be enough people around this time to get a few extra hours.  She looked over at Peter though and wondered if he would finally get those extra hours.  Hopefully he would.

Re: The Destroyer

They filed into Boise's Great Temple main hall. Waiting for them was, of course, Goose and Biletnikoff, the Librarian. Simon was there, looking wan and drawn, and accompanying him was a young female Templar. She had red hair pulled back into a ponytail and wore a tactical vest under her Templar's Tabard.

Goose nodded at the posse as they came in, and replied to Roadkill as he slapped him on the back. "Hell, Roadkill! You're late, lazy SOB. Good to see you made it, even helped take down Modeen. A lot of us made the Final Trip 'cause of him and his goons. You done good."

Waiting a second for the pleasantries to conclude, Simon interjected, "welcome to the Temple. I'm Simon. My apologies for my earlier state. I feel... better, now.

"First things first. Did any of you die? Kyla here can do something about it. She's Katy Blaze's daughter."

All the older members of the posse had heard of Katy Blaze, a famous film/TV/3-D star from before the war, famous for her martial arts skill and doing her own stunts.

Roadkill laughs a bit.

"Ha, I did nothing. I was out for most of it. Trucks in grenades... i mean grenades in trucks do strange things to ya hearing. Sounds like Jas did all the killing. I didn't see it but it sounded like he grew 10 feet tall and stomped the freak into the dirt."

Obviously tones it down a wee bit

Kyla, the Templar, was tired and drawn, still covered in the soot and dirt of battle. Even someone's blood, but probably not her own. Blaze put down her AK. "Bring in your friend. If he's worthy, we'll see if the Saints think he gets another shot."

She looked a lot like her mother, Katy. Katy had won a great amount of fame for her action roles, all the more amazing because she did her own fighting and stunts, something unheard of in the 99% CGIFX world of pre-war Hollywood.

Re: The Destroyer

Outside, they met with Cpl. Beaujolais, the fellow Mountie that Sullivan had met in Boise. Sullivan had given Beaujolais an important package, Beaujolais had lent him her M4 carbine for his mission to hunt down Modeen. The middle-aged black woman with the Caribbean looked as tired and worn as anyone in the ruins of Boise, as she'd stayed to help defend. "I guess he helped get his man. He'd want to be buried in his Mountie red serge uniform. Said he wouldn't wear it again until the RCMP was reformed, and now it 'as."

"Well, don't go all dressing him up just yet. Simon needs to see him," growled Trejo.

They took Sullivan's body, still wrapped in his shelter half, back into the temple. Once there, they laid it on a wood table, as directed. A look of intense concentration came over Kayla as she unwrapped the body and placed her hands over Sullivan's wounds. Soon, an intense blue glow suffused the body, something none of them, even Jason, had ever seen before. It grew brighter, so intense that no one could bear to look directly at it. Minutes passed, not long, maybe five, ten?

The glow abruptly receded. The effect seemed to be Sullivan's wounds were healed. And then, he slowly started to breathe...

Maura watches fasinated.
As far as she knows what is being sugested is impossible, how can you bring some one back from beyond the viel and heal wounds on a body already dead?

Here eyes go wide at the sight of what happens, and she bows long and deaply to Kayla, "Lady how did you manage such", she stutters, "to reach beyond and bring back a man dead?"
"Not even the power of a full circle of adepts can amanage such"

Jane watched and took a step back.  She heard rumors of such things happening but one never knew with rumors.  It was...unsettling...to see it done.  "<smaller>Damn that's spooky.</smaller>"  She finally muttered and then looked around to see if anybody heard her for she didn't mean her softly spoken outbreak to be taken as blasphemy.

Kayla opened her eyes and smiled at Roadkill. He could tell that under other circumstances, she would be a gorgeous women. The older Posse members could definitely see the resemblance to her mother, Katy.

"It doesn't usually work! And it takes a lot out of me. Not something I do every day. That wasn't really my work, anyways. Like many of the greatest miracles a Templar performs a saint was working through me, Clara Clark. She was a nurse in New York in the 1980s, she hunted vampires, the Nosferatu, and they killed her. My mother's a saint as well."

She turned to Rowan. "You're a witch, right? Modern witchcraft is largely due to the work of Annabelle Lee Devlin, a descendent of Mina Devlin. From what I know of Witchcraft, the most powerful magic is black magic, which is what Mina practiced. Annabelle Lee researched more subtle and less corrupting spells and powers to pass along to her sisters.

"Maybe we Templars can work greater or flashier miracles with the help of the saints, but then, we do have bigger targets on our backs."

Rowan nods impressed by the womens skill, her modesty and honesty.
