Smoker began carefully examining the headless automaton.

Examining the inside, he realised that the unit was booby trapped! It could go off at any moment.

"Drat! This thing is booby-trapped!!!" says Smoker, backing away.

"Back away slowly. Anything could set this thing off at this point." Jason says walking backwards slowly. Waiting just waiting to hear the sound of an explosion then nothing.

There are times to back away. Then there are times to run like the devil is at your heels.

Smoker started to back up, a very slow procedure. There was a white flash, then nothing.

Everyone else saw an explosion flash in the darkness, Smoker flying through the air.

Jane winced when she heard/saw the explosion.  _{That's why I'm why I didn't stay there.}"  Jane looked around and noticed that Rowan was watching also and know thew that she would be ready to give assistance.

The air stank of explosives and vapourised lubricant and solvents, sharp as gunpowder and brimstone.

Explosion ringing in her ears, Rowan reached Smoker, saw he was in very poor shape. There were serious wounds to his head, upper chest, lower body and left leg. She couldn't find any vital signs (no pulse, respiration, pupil dilation).

Rowan professional experience told her that the patient was flatlined, with head trauma in addition to multiple chest wounds. Whether she understood or not, emotionally, was another question.

Nothing works, the patient is completely unresponsive. He has no pulse, shocking his heart will not start it again.

Jane does as Rowan asked and after handing it to her stands by to help if she can.  Personally she didn't think anything could be done but then weirder things had happened.  The best she could do was to follow directions and help protect Rowan if anything came for her.

With great sorrow Jason walks over and puts a hand on Rowan's shoulder. "Rowan I'm only a Squire I can't heal him. I will try but do not put a great amount of hope in it." Jason bends down and starts to go into himself to bring forth the power of the Saints like he was taught. His hands grow a little bright, but .....

Ian hears the explosion and her rushes back to see what happened.  Hearing of Smokers death his expression hardens up.

"Why is always it always the young ones." he mutters under his breath.

Peter flinched when the explosion went off and he crouched down instinctively. He then turned towards it, in time to see Smoker's body hit the ground. He winced visibly, then he slowly straightened back up with a heavy sigh. "Damn. Why did he have to go near it?"

Smoker wasn't responding, and Rowan knew in her heart that Smoker was a goner. She flashed to Michaela, Arthur. Then further back to before the war, mostly traffic accidents, some shootings along the Maryland Turnpike and in the clubs and bars and convenience stores. Jason took over and Rowan and Jane stepped aside to let him work.

Now, Jason was not a Templar. He had not been blessed by Simon, not been welcomed into the knighthood. Yet, the Saints worked in mysterious ways, they already subverted the laws of time and space. They bestowed their blessings however they chose, and it seemed they chose Jason.

His hands began to glow, something they'd never done before. They got so bright it was like he had two spotlights in his hands shining down on Smoker's wounds. After a moment they could smell burned hair and ozone, see feathers of static electrical bolts strobed down onto the body beneath him.

Life returned into Smoker's lifeless body. The wounds on his head and torso were healed. His left leg was still hurt (Heavy Wound) and Rowan was now out of healing poultices, but he was alive!

Roadkill sits in the truck, trying to get the remains of the thing out and then the explosion went off. He sat there, somewhat in shock as Rowan and Jason managed to save Smoker.

*sigh* "lets just get out of here, we are expected elsewhere"
His tone was dejected as he started the engine. it was early morning and sleeping for another hour or two would do little.

and as she and the Templar finish work she turns, and does something the party have never seen her do before,
She kneels and bows her head touching the ground.
" I give thee thanks Lord, I do not know what Power worked through you, but clearly your superiors should be made aware of it.
